@@Mk2Mitch Mitch well done mate. You've got the skills and it's far more environmentally friendly to keep an old car going than buy a new one. Just don't drive it anywhere near the ULEZ 😂
Bloody ell mate, lower arm bushes worn....?😂 I would 💯 % fail those. We all make mistakes. Fix it enjoy the improved ride and move on. What a cracking van pal 👏..
Just curious mate are you MOTer? I personally would’ve advised, as the bush is not excessively worn to the point it is likely to become detached. MOT requirements are actually very low, and I learnt this in my course! (Just having a heathy debate) 👍🏻
Fun little video, thank you. I love these Mk4 vans! I've got an MOT for my Mk4 car tomorrow... first once since it was taken off the road in 2019. Hopefully we can keep another Mk4 alive!
@@Mk2Mitch Thank you Mitch - passed with (almost) flying colours! Front brake flexis have some tiny cracks and nearside wishbone bush is starting to crack, but both were advisories... It's beautiful! Just got to convince the wife to let me keep it now 😂
Nice one. I was wondering why you didn't do the mot yourself but you explained that. I really think the van need som royal mail stickers on the side though 😂😂😂
Royal Mail didn’t use fiesta vans , just escort and ldv 200’s and 400’s lcv’s so it’d look wrong This vans not a fleet van I can think of used which is usually why they last because someone used it lightly and over kept it
Old fiestas never die is that the 1600 idi diesel engine in that one. i used to work on the assembly line they were built on at Dagenham essex. keep us up to date with this please well done crack on
it won't be, even the Mk3 Fiesta Diesel is an 1800. this is probably still that NA 1800 because I don't think the 1800 turbo-Diesel was offered until 1999.
It's great you got it through the MOT, it was not like the garage was looking for repair work because you would have done it yourself, I always find it nerve-wracking taking a car for the MOT.
Trouble starting in the morning may be compression. I had this with an Isuzu powered 1.7T cavalier & got it shimmed & it was perfect after that. Cheap job too.
bit borderline those bushes, it must squirm bad under heavy breaking... the dust cover was a fail i reckon [yes, got mine in 1987 you young wippersnapper...] spend some money on decent bottom arms, the cheap ones only last a year, + don't forget 2 new pinch bolts. nice set of old/worn looking genuine ford alloys would be nice
I sold my ST as I found it unreliable and was nearly on 90k. The intention was never to put that money into my escort, instead I’m saving up for a ‘newer’ daily 👍🏻
Hopefully you won't get hammered like I just did........ My Merc C Class, 10 yr old, 2.2 diesel, 83000 miles, FSH (Merc main dealer), took it down to local garage cos I thought, hang on, front end looks a bit low - - - - - springs, shocks, suspension arms, ABS sensor (mechanic thinks pot holes!!!!), PARTS, and just the parts - - - - £900!!!!!!! Had to be expected, that's the 1st time in 5 years it's needed anything done. Some monumental pot holes up here in Scotland - - - - no way to avoid some of them, like upside down speed bumps........ fekkin HUGE !!!!!
I drove one of these when I was a telephone engineer on BT. I used to love buzzing round the City in it. I practically lived in it!
Haha that’s brilliant, I wonder if there are any ex BT ones left on the road?
Have you ever been to the festival of the unexceptional? Its the last weekend of July: Your van would be perfect for it.
I’ve heard of it but never been! I’m busy this year but I will add it to the list for next year and try to attend in the van 😁
I love that that van makes you so happy and youve rescuedd it just before it becomes unsaveable😊
It’s very satisfying! I will keep the van in great condition and try to make it even cleaner by restoring certain parts 😁

Very nice wee van, I’d love something like that , great videos😊
Thank you! 👍🏻
Good news with the new MOT and i'm looking forward to the jobs that you've got to do on the van 👍
Cheers, will be ticking the jobs off the list soon 👍🏻
Love it! Reminds me of my 306 d turbo i daily, just little bits to restore! Rolling resto you could say!!!
That sounds like fun, yes rolling resto are the best 😎
Perfect vlog Mitch ..you the van and Lauren..awesome watch

Yes!

I’ll have to check the compression. Although I’m 99% sure it’s the leaky fuel pump 👍🏻
More videos on the van please 👍👌
Plenty more to come! 👍🏻
Lovely old job
