Truly said, but just a correction. Healthcare is commercialized all over the world. I live in Germany, even here nothing is free. Atleast in India there are government hospitals. Here everything has to be paid for by the Insurance companies and people pay the health insurance which is mandatory for everyone registered in Germany. Premium is based on their income. Germany has one of the best healthcare in the world by the way.

I agree. If I were a patient I would hate a camera crew entering the ICU which should be super sanitary. But this is a great ad for this unknown hospital. Second discussing mortality rates in ICUs would scare me but here the ICU is full of people who don't know English clearly.

I lost my parents in this hospital after fighting for 15(father) and 20(mother) long days but still I would like to say that this hospital treated my parents very well.. we were allowed to talk to our parents and look after them.. I can only say that my parents were having only so much of life which was already written by almighty... Now I can only say u all to plz remember my parents in ur prayers.
What point does an interview in the icu bring? Except insensitivity to people who are ill. We will believe Barkha and the doctor if they make this conversation outside icu. Will be sensitive and sober. Please consider

This interview could have easily happened outside the ICU and separate visuals of the ICU shown. Quite insensitive on both Barkha and the doctor's part. Atleast he should have exercised more discretion.

It's a humble request for all the gov and political authorities to provide the hospitals with appropriate resources and requirements and save the citizens of India. They should also realize that these people who are sick and in ICU once help them win elections. A humble request to our politicians to extend their support to these hospitals.

When you go inside the ICU ward and say repeatedly that the mortality rate in ICU is over 20% in front of the ailing patients, not sure what they must have gone through that very second.
Totally agree. Unnecessary sensationalizing by repeating over and over again what the doctors just stated clearly and audibly. Rudely interrupting a respected doctor before he can finish his sentence. Remember media person, he is doing a phenomenal job and you can edit the tape later but at least let him finish speaking his thoughts. And finally, focusing and harping on 20% mortality as if it was the sole gold nugget you found in the ICU rather than emphasizing the phenomenal job the entire medical staff is doing with likely severe lack of sleep to combat a very dangerous and severe illness that spares no one is really shameful. You need to get some lessons in “listening” and letting others speak rather than letting the adrenaline rush take over your entire conduct inside the ICU.

I can feel the pain of losing someone close..I lost my father 2 days ago..he died just 5 mins before i reached the hospital😭I cant even imagine what pain he was going through😭😭He was all good when he went to the hospital at 3:00pm by 4:30 he was dead..😭😭😭

This is an outstanding testament to HBS hospital and it’s staff who are taking excellent care of their patients. The hospital presents a benchmark for other hospitals to meet or beat. The overriding fact is that the virus is dangerous, it is affecting a younger population and the mortality rate of ICU admitted patients is high ~20%. It is also a fact that the mortality rate of an intimated patient (on a ventilator) is as high as 60-80%. That people who neglected themselves or got the wrong treatment land up in the ICU, sometimes too late. That this is a highly contagious mutant, more so than the first wave virus. So far so good. What was not mentioned is that most people recover without hospitalisation, and if admitted don’t need to be admitted into an ICU. This is the kind of hyped up “selective reporting” Barka indulges in to fit the narrative she propagates. She tried to score points by making statements and asking questions looking to sensationalise the responses. She started off saying the death rate in Bengaluru is three times higher than the death rate in Chennai for the same period. It was either her ignorance or a bait which the good doctor did not take. The answer is simple the second wave reached Bengaluru first before it reached Chennai. She tried again regarding the oxygen crisis, but the doctor was truthful and indicated it was not an issue. The take away for the viewer which should have and was not emphasised was practice Covid Appropriate Behaviour and don’t unnecessarily put yourself in a situation and catch the virus. The way she moved with jerky movements when talking to the good doctors, like she was part of an attack team was rather funny. There was a final dig at the non-availability of vaccines, which we are all aware of. That too will pass and Barkha will move on to sensationalise the issue du jour, if which there will be many.
