I love how clumsy and down to earth he is by the way he tells his stories and just being honest that he's unsure with some chords. Somehow can relate to him because i learn many songs without knowing the chords first😂
So happy to see this. The one and only time my mom crowd surfed was to this band. It was a moment that she and I really got to bond over, so I will always have a soft spot for Dinosaur Pile Up.
@@LoudwireMusic Rocklahoma 2017. I legit thought I lost her (she's pretty short), and the next thing you know, there she was above the crowd. I never thought she would crowd surf, considering she doesn't normally listen to that kind of music. It was great and the smile on her face when she came back.... priceless. We keep asking if she'll do it again, and she says that she's checked it off her list and is done. Lol But she'll talk about the experience with pride, even name dropping the band. I wish I still had my footage. (We think) She made it into the promo vid for '18 ROK, but the logo was in the way, which is a bummer. At least we have the memory.
I discover this band 10 years ago and I don´t even know Matt, but I´m super happy for him and the band for getting the recognition they deserve. Rock and roll isn't dead.
This may sound a little odd but i like listening to music but i really get into it when i can watch the guitarist play can see how much intensity they are imbuing in their music
Just discovered this band by picking up their celebrity mansions album on vinyl. Mad impressed by their sound and relatability. Definitely a new favorite.
Writes guitar in the shower (In one writing referring the thought/idea of a song/ remembering it) Me: pictures him standing in the shower with his electric guitar shorting out
Aguante Matt toda la vida! Toca tan mal como yo pero hace canciones como ninguno!! Me da esperanzas que algún día pueda formar una banda y hacer lo mismo jajaja
The first time I heard the Backfoot riff I immediately thought of Muse. Because of the chromatic movements and all.. Obviously Muse are heavily inspired bij Rage Against The Machine and Deftones as well so I guess me linking it to Muse isn't all that weird, right? I love Dinosaur Pile Up. They take inspiration from the 'big name bands' but DEFINITELY have their own characteristics. I think they deserve way more recognition. I'm from the Netherlands and would definitely go to see their show if they went and did a 'small venue' tour in Europe.
I FUCKING LOVE DINOSAUR PILE-UP I SAW THEM AND BROKEN HANDS OPENING FOR ONE OF THE SHOWS I WENT TO SEE.... AND BOY, THEY WERE AMAZING. THRASHMETAL CASSETTE AND BACKFOOT ARE MY FAVORITE SONGS FROM DINOSAUR PILE-UP. IF THERE ARE ANY BLUR AND NIRVANA FANS HERE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GUYS LISTEN TO DINOSAUR PILE-UP.
First riff is my favorite Pumpkins song Second riff is my favorite riff of all time, from one of my favorite songs of all time, from my favorite band of all time. No wonder I fucking love Dinosaur Pile Up
'All those notes are really strange'. That this could be said by most reasonably famous musicians pretty much sums up why so much popular music is bland. Thank fuck a handful of bands like Killing Joke managed to break through with genuinely 'strange' notes.
Did you play back foot wrong? Haha. You kind of ruined that one for me. When I play it I feel like I'm playing a lot more notes and it's a lot more complicated.
Finally! This band is slowly getting recognition. I love Dinosaur Pile Up!
They suck
Agreed!
its criminal how underrated they are
I couldn't agree more

I’ve never been so happy to get a UA-cam notification
Matt bigland is so relatable
When I hear his influences, I understand the Back Foot riff completely.
"I'm always on the backfoot"❤🔥
I was waiting for this band to get some attention because I really like them
Fantastic band. Blew me away when I saw them in London in December last year. Hard workers, hard rockers, fun music. What’s not to love?
Loved these guys for so long
I remember when the Mona Lisa video dropped. Matt & DPU deserve everything!!
I discover this band 10 years ago and I don´t even know Matt, but I´m super happy for him and the band for getting the recognition they deserve. Rock and roll isn't dead.
Have come to love this bands music.
SO much love for this band and Matt in particular. Great interview! This band deserves to be so big.
Yes im so glad these guys are getting somewhere.
His picking style is unique !!
Love Dinosaur Pile up and great to hear someone who's as crappy at guitar as I am after years of playing, pulling it off and writing great tunes!
This band is so underrated
Omg i love him and his playing style like no technique just ear and feeling! That’s rock n roll
YES MATT!!! Beach bug is still my favourite tune. Banging.

Wish they would come a little further south in Texas !! This band is freaking great!!
I love these guys, met them all, seen em live twice, got friends who are mates with them all and they are the nicest people and make the sickest music
He's such a cool guy. He's very very nice in reality too. Really funny, kind man.
First heard of this band from playing “Back Foot” on Rock Band 4 and was blown away by that riff, freaking insane
This may sound a little odd but i like listening to music but i really get into it when i can watch the guitarist play can see how much intensity they are imbuing in their music
This dude is too real! Love this band! Keep rocking! Can’t wait to see y’all rock in NJ!
Nobody
Evil villains when they do anything 8:11
I really want to see them live
Love DPU, nature nurture is one of my all time favourites. I'm glad to see Matt is a bit of shambles haha.
Just discovered this band by picking up their celebrity mansions album on vinyl. Mad impressed by their sound and relatability. Definitely a new favorite.
I was so shocked to figure out he was british

Incredible incredible band, glad they're finally getting some recognition
To see this man playing ‘shove it’ makes me extremely happy
Definitely cool thanks buddy for sharing with us
Aw I love Dinosaur Pile-Up so much! This was a gem lol
I like this guy. He is so rock n roll.
Matt is the man!!!
I have the same model V. Great guitar! I took the robo-tuner bullshit off and installed vintage tuners though. I'm old-school \m/
Saw them live with shinedown last year. Thought they were great \m/
Writes guitar in the shower

Should of played some of his mother vulpine riffs like the hammer that cracks the bell, awesome sond 🤟
one of my fave riffs is in the song Love is a Boat and Were Sinking by this dude
"I'm a f'n pro, ok!?" 😂🤣
I thought he would've been from Georgia or something?
Ditto
Nope dude, born in Kendal near Lancashire, he’s a super down to earth dude
Goooood band ,

Perseverance!👍
Great band.
My Rock n Roll is an awesome song bro! Good tune
that hoplessly good looking guy that hoovers up all the tang by playing power chords
I literally just fucking got into this band....this is crazy
Aguante Matt toda la vida! Toca tan mal como yo pero hace canciones como ninguno!!
Me da esperanzas que algún día pueda formar una banda y hacer lo mismo jajaja
We love the man 😉
I love them even more now that he's a Deftones fan
Oh man, I love DPU so much, super excited about this video
Awesome Band
This man literally just had the same guitar journey as mine lol
Bro I live this guy
'There is just something about it', it's a good riff mate.
those albums he's listing is the exact same as my cousin introduced to me except instead of smashing pumpkins it was fear factory
Fantastic interview without ever hearing the interviewer!

When it says "sorry we are experiencing technical difficulties" what is the music playing?
First riff is my favorite Pumpkins song
Second riff is my favorite riff of all time, from one of my favorite songs of all time, from my favorite band of all time.
No wonder I fucking love Dinosaur Pile Up
❤️❤️❤️
Thinks of songs in shower. Check.
Shower everyday... 365 days in a year. That means a plethora of songs forever!
whoa, a guitar that isn't an explorer? That's new.
That was inspirational.
“I’m a fucking pro”
Dude I never would’ve guessed he was British
Robo Tuners strike back!! Hahahah
What effect is he using?
Probably overdrive or distortion
“The chunig”
8:36 sounds like negative creep
Dino one of my favorite bands I love thier music alternative waves all over🤘
11:11
:D Dinosaur Pile-Up! I really want to seem them but they’re not coming close to me
Be cool if you could get the boys from Supersuckers on here
'All those notes are really strange'.

🦖🍕⚡️
I'm having anxiety seeing how he holds the pick
Those robo tuners suck, Gibson....whoops.
Seems like a nice guy but what the hell is that picking technique?
Did you play back foot wrong? Haha. You kind of ruined that one for me. When I play it I feel like I'm playing a lot more notes and it's a lot more complicated.
Pop really sucks still
I play better than him and here I am, watching his success..
You would think that they would at least practice some of these riffs beforehand but nah fuck it.
Like omg this is like totally weak bruhs. A big pile of what?
Never heard of this band but I'll remember the name because....... it's weak.
Dino pile up, love these guys
