- I've bought the Apple Magic Keyboard & the Logitech Combo Touch for iPad Pro, and I wanted to share my thoughts on them! In this video I'll give my review of each, compare their Pros and Cons, and tell you know which one I prefer overall. Enjoy! ✌🏻

I bought the magic keyboard initially. The build quality was top notch, but I just couldn't get over the one angle you were stuck with. I got the combo touch, and I liked it soo much better. I actually like the fabric on the combo touch, and still having protection with the keyboard made me feel much better when not connected to the keyboard.

I hate the durability of the logic combo touch. Gone through two cases because each time the case for the iPad starts peeling when I don’t drop it or place it in conditions where the case could peel

@@brianma8 do you have solution for that ? I'm planning to buy logi combo touch, but seeing used market photo, so many of them have bending and peeling at side section of the case like you explain. This thing make me doubt and try to search another alternative keyboard

Well, the Logi has better viewing angles, better protection, function key row, better backlit keys, and it's around $100 cheaper. I say it's a better deal to get more for less than less for more.
With poor lapability and no extra usb-c. Nah, Apple Magic Keyboard is a better product overall

Superbly done video! I’ve been using the Logitech Combo Touch on my 12.9” iPad Pro and I totally love it.
Quick Pro Tip for Combo Touch: pressing the volume up + Lock button on the keyboard quickly does screenshot similar to pressing to power and volume up keys. This is something reviewers fail to mention.

I own the Apple Magic Keyboard and love it. I particularly like the strength and sturdiness. It works extremely well for my needs.

I literally got the magic keyboard just for the charger on the side, it’s really useful as I connect my accessories to the iPad port and charge using the port on the keyboard.
Dude, this is like a university assignement the way youve compared the two. Exactly the right video i was looking for - but i will stick to Logitech as it offers more functionality and protection around the ipad.

Love this video I honestly think you should have more subscribers based on the quality of this video. Getting my I pad pro soon and I think I might just get the combo touch as I like having an extra bulk for protection as I tend to travel a lot with a backpack and from prior experience having a sturdy case will definitely help!

If you drop your iPad Pro it will most likely land on a corner or edge and it WILL crack the screen. Ask me how I know. I had the Apple smart folio cover and it offers zero protection. The Magic keyboard offers the same zero protection. Apple used to offer covers that at least covered the corners and edge. Ive had numerous iPads since the first one and never had any damage and go everywhere with it and have dropped one more than once. Never cracked one. One reason is the edges are protected. Same for my iPhones. A screen repair cost $700! Without a doubt I’m going with the Logitech. They look good , have more functionality, offer protection AND less expensive.

Have had 12.9 with Magic Keyboard but switched to 11 with Logitech Combo. Fits my use cases a lot better.
It’s all about finding what works best for you!

I am using the magic keyboard and am very happy with it. A key has come loose and I went online to find how to fix it. For now it’s ok @2 is the key . I prefer Logitech as I often use the iPad to read as well as a replacement for my laptop. I do not like to handle my iPad without protection as is the case if I would want to use the iPad (in portrait mode) with/without Magic keyboard.

I have the iPad Air 4 and was debating which keyboard to get - the combo, folio or that from Apple. I like the very sleek and almost elegant look that apple’s magic keyboard offers however the somewhat minimal protection and fact that you have to take it off completely for drawing bothers me. I really don’t know!

Nice review. I bought 10.5 Pro in 2017 with Logic Slim Combo and it’s still working perfectly. I’m about to buy the 11 pro, and thought should buy the Magic Keyboard or not. After watching your video, I think I will go with the Logic again this time

The main issue with the Combo Touch is durability, it starts to peeling around the corners and bending in the speakers cutouts, also, is very heavy. Already owned two of them.

This video did help me to decide the magic keyboard for my 12.9. I am 6’1” too and that setup on the lap is so important. The added charging on the keyboard itself is amazing

Great video ... As someone who has the first magic keyboard for my 2018 iPad Pro, I think when I go for the M1 iPad, I"ll grab the Logitech. I've found that the material on the magic keyboard does not age well - it's nearly impossible to keep clean and discolors quickly (smudges everywhere) - I literally hate everything about the material choice that apple uses on these keyboards. I will definitely miss the USB port on the keyboard though, as I often have it plugged in while also using the USB port on the iPad for peripherals.

I love the way you pronounce Logitech. I’ve never heard it pronounced “low - gee” before. It’s an αbbreviation of logic so “lodge - ee “.

Something to note about the combo touch.
Logitech makes a combo touch for the 9th gen ipad 10.2, where as you cannot get a magic keyboard for the 10.2 model.

Just got my iPad Pro and thought I’d go the cheap route and get a stand and use my regular magic keyboard and mouse. I didn’t enjoy using the mouse with the ipad so hopefully I like the track pad. So I’m going to try to the iPad magic keyboard. But your video helped solidify which keyboard case option to go with. Thanks.

Oh for sure! But I tend to mainly use my iPad around the house and prefer not to have a case on it. But if you want that extra protection and don’t mind the extra thickness, the Combo Touch is the way the go instead of the Magic ✌🏻
Hands down, the BEST, most comprehensive, informative, no nonsense, unbiased review I've seen of these two products! Watching so many other big name YT'ers, you get the impression they're subtly taking a hidden side - plugging a "certain one" of these two products b/c they're getting a hidden kickback

I just got the magic keyboard on sale for 200 i like it so far but i was coming from smart folio keyboard so if you have that you are not missing much. This is a good case if you re mostly using iPad at a desk. If you move around a lot i would go with the smart folio keyboard if you can find a good deal or the low gee tech for extra protection.
Great video. When closing both products, do they use magnets to help keep them closed, or do they just swing open with no effort? So the concern is when you're walking carrying it....you know, just opening up too easy.

Does the Combo's cloth like covering pucker from use? I've seen reports of this, and users say this is "normal". Love the function keys of the Combo! I've turned the keyboard backlight off on my 2020 MK, it sucks down the battery too fast. Great comparison! Subscribed!
I didn’t have any problems like that with the fabric covering in my use (although I only kept it for a couple weeks). It doesn’t sound like that should be ‘normal’ to me though! Hopefully Logitech can sort it out if it’s happening a lot.
Agreed, the functions keys are so useful. Much easier access to screen brightness & media controls!
And yes, I found the same. They both really eat through the battery with the backlights on.

I bought a surface pro 8 since I like the built in kickstand and was disappointed by how bad windows is to use on a touch screen. I returned the device after a week and went back to my 2018 iPad Pro. I tried to find a cheaper alternative to the Logitech case and I could not find a case that had the surface kickstand. I ended up buying the Logitech combo touch just for the case itself and rarely ever use the keyboard. I bought it since it protects the iPad, the surface kickstand, awesome build quality and If I want to use my iPad as a laptop all I have to do it attach the keyboard. This is so much nicer than the apple folio. I don’t have to deal with the a flap that covers the screen since the kickstand folds nicely into the case. I highly recommend. Just wish they made a version of the case that covers up the opening on the top for the Apple Pencil. I don’t have the pencil and I don’t want one. Now I’m left with a exposed area and it looks weird. That’s my only complaint.

I have the magic keyboard for my iPad Pro. I gotta be honest, I love the quality. I have small fingers, so the keys aren’t a problem. The only thing is you only have one angle which isn’t a huge problem for me.

I love the Logitech keyboard design but with both the older model of the keyboard and the newer version I found that they stopped working after 2 or so months. Also with the older version I replaced it multiple times and the same thing. It’s ready sad because it worked really well and was perfect in every way apart from that one aspect.
Should also consider the use of Apple Pencil, which is the reason for many people buying iPad
I have tried to use the magic keyboard with Apple Pencil for note taking and it sucks...
because only one viewing angle is allowed for the Magic Keyboard and that angle is impossible to write.
Some reviewers said flipping the iPad upside down, but the keyboard will actually block your view if you are on lecture
I am looking forward to change to Logitech Combo Touch for better integration with Apple Pencil.

I agree, the Magic Keyboard is more suited to typing than using it with the Pencil. You’d need to detach the iPad from it to use it comfortably. For anyone making lots of handwritten notes or doing lots of drawing, the Combo Touch would be the better option 👍🏻
These devices really boil down to doing different things for different people. I have had both but prefer the combo if for the sole reason that I can flip it into draw mode, or just disconnect the ipad from the keyboard while still having the protective bumpers around the edges. But, this is also based on me 1) drawing, and 2) being rough with my ipad too often to be comfortable without the bumpers on the combo touch.

Thank you for adding this comment I’ve been waiting for somebody to tell me which one was the most protected because I have severe arthritis in my hands and I drop everything. While I try not to pick up my iPad too much and walk with it, occasionally it’s necessary and I need something on there that’s somewhat protective at least. Thanks for the tip!
I agree, if only the combo touch was as sturdy as the surface pro series it would be perfect!
As you said it's all about how you use your iPad, I really wanted to buy the MK because its really beautifully made but I use my iPad 40% in a worksop and 60% at home, at the workshop I need protection and for me that's the main problem with the MK, I also draw and edit photos with apple pencil and the MK doesn't provide comfortable positions for that. I think the MK is meant for people that wants to use the iPad basically as they would use a laptop but then, why not buy MacBook Air ? I understand the iPad Pro as a device for people that wants laptop functionality but that is going to do something different like drawing, editing photos and stuff that involves the Apple Pencil. Some people uses iPad Pro M1 12.9 and its gorgeous screen for media, for that you don't need a Keyboard but with Apple products protection is a must and MK doesn't give that. I would've bought MK if it had an option to detach the iPad but with some protection like the Logi, like a fusion of both designs

I've been using the Combo Touch on mi iPad Pro 10,5" for the last 2 years and I can say it keeps clean easier than it looks. I mean, unless you lay it on a dirty surface, it keeps clean. For me, the size of the trackpad is very important because my hands are not too small. The only negative aspect is the fact that we need a hub in order to charge the iPad while we use an external disk. Anyway, there are hubs that solve this issue. Obviously, the price difference is very significant.
Finally, I prefer to carry with 70 grams more weight and not to spend almost two times its price. Thus, the protection I get with the Logitech is not on the apple's keyboard. Good review, mate.
Thanks buddy! I too like the larger trackpad on the Combo Touch, I have massive hands 😄 For sure it’s the better option for protection and price point 👍🏻
