EX-QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, KYUSS, NICK OLIVERI WANTS TO GO HOMME

- Bassist Nick Oliveri, who is currently in Kyuss Lives, has been estranged from Kyuss and Queens Of The Stone Age bandmate Josh Homme, and he hopes to one day reunite.
Nick added the hardcore and the garage precisely what is missed now in the band
Nick looks like the guy who breaks into your house while you're at work and then pawns all your shit
He's probably the one who stole James Hetfield's favorite amp.
Oh I laughed so hard at this 🤣 😂
LOL
@@gloriouscontent3538 underrated.
Yeah... "looks like".
I don't think he'll ever be back in QOTSA especially after this.
He'll probably still make more guest appearances.
That was a polite way of saying he was in a standoff with a SWAT team for hours and only released his girlfriend 2 hours after SWAT showed up.
Josh also kicked a female photographer in the face?
@@tomashcroft7024 Plus, Josh's wife is suing him for domestic violence against his own kids, so there's that too.
@@tomashcroft7024 headbutted his wife too
Yeah, 20 years ago and people change, QOTSA were notorious drug abusers at the time too. He did great vocals on "If I Had A Tail" so they've obviously patched things up since
@tomashcroft7024 so? Why does it matter they were female? If it were a male photogrpaher, would we even know about it?
Oliveri left Queens Of The Stone Age in 2004, with Homme accusing the bassist of disrespecting the group's fans with his on tour antics. There were also rumours, which have never been confirmed, that Homme removed Oliveri from the band when he discovered he'd been violent towards his then girlfriend.
Oliveri said in 2010: "It took me six years to figure it out, but you know what, I would have axed me too. We did this show in Spain and I was freaking out when he didn't show up for soundcheck. When he didn't turn up, I drank a bottle of vodka and then the show wasn't good at all. Then when we supposed to go back out after the set but Josh was like 'I'm not going out there with you' and I freaked out. I wished now he had just knocked me out, I'd have been sorry when I woke up then."
Homme's the better man, but did kick a female photographer in the face.
What about the woman Homme kicked?
@@ianjacka636 Homme is a jerk, don't like and do no trust him at all. Nick is a more honest guy as I perceive him, but totally out of control, has and had severe behavioral problems and addiction problems, violence issues and legal issues etc. Both awesome musicians though and I miss Nick's bass lines.
@@Danny-wv8ec "por la boca muere el pez" , dice el refrán.
He was definitely perfect for queens but he tried to live the rock star life too fast....no hes washed up. Can't say I feel for him but he is one hell of a bassist.
Nick had some contribution to the band, but I still think QOTSA is doing just fine without him. Josh is def now and was always the Captain of that ship. I also don't think Nick is accurate on how Josh gets rid of people after he takes what he needs from them...I think Nick's getting the boot was 100% his own doing. Actually they were buddies for years and I think Josh gave him more than his fair share of chances. Several serious drug infractions, rumors of spousal abuse and ending with a drug fueled arm stand off with the cops. come on, you can't only ignore so much.
Of course you know more than Nick Oliveri through your intimate relationship with only what you can fathom through media sources.
Of course you would know exactly what I know and what Nick knows right? Fuck off....
Rocco K Moron.
Rocco K That insult makes absolutely no sense. Well done.
Damn Deal Done
It makes perfect sense you suck and so does Green Day. Or maybe you are a God Smack fan...does that one make sense? You have no taste in music.
He's kind of right about josh learning how to be a frontman, but he's wrong about the writing. Queens is top notch now.
Their best albums were with Nick
@J Sickels the anger has been absent, yes.
Here is my 2 pennies for what it's worth. Point (1) JH is an incredible artist, there is no disputing that - "front-man" or not - but dudes, he executes his songs like no other can...come on. Nick is also an incredible artist and a Bassist extraordinaire. The current qotsta line up is pristine - if that's not too over the top - just my opinion. I would Love to see these guys play music together without the bullshit politics of the music business...just being 2 friends having fun and doing what they like to do, without the pressure of the business fuckheads. Again...just my humble opinion.
qotsa = Homme
I'm sure all the people he collaborates with to create QOTSA albums would love to hear that.
wrong.
Sounds like somebody who has never listened to QOTSA...
dont really know if that what nick was saying are just excuses or kinda true but in my opinion his musical contribution to the band was great... anyway, still love qotsa
This dude shreds harder than anyone I’ve ever seen I remember my brother was in a band FEEL that opened for these guys, good times.
Fucking spot on ... I mean, he put my thoughts about Josh Homme as succinct as I think one could without saying the right word
Nick forgot to tell that the reason Josh kicked him out was because of Nick's over-the-top drug addiction.
I understand fully that Nick had to go, and the band is doing great without him.
Yeah, it's true though. Homme stated that he never really wanted to be the front man. That he was always more comfortable in the shadows, and Oliveri was more comfortable anywhere except the shadows. But I love change. I love Era Vulgaris so much. It's my favorite record of theirs. It's all Homme. He is so so awesome.
The band is not the same without Nick and it really shows.
QOTSA is a well-oiled machine now, the sound has changed because the band wanted, nobody wants to make SfTD v1, 2, 3, 4.....
And i'd not like to have this type of guy in my band.
exactly
that comment about "having yes men around" holds water i think
all of of their albums are fantastic but I wish nick would join the band again he was rhe wild card and every good rock band needs that
Josh doesn't want him back cuz Nick was beating his girl up and Josh found out
He toured the album, but he didn't join until after it was finished. The guy talking at the end of hand model is a phone message from nick though.
And by the way, Era Vugaris and Lullabies are both wonderful albums.
QOTSA don't sound as good without him, but he was a woman beating monster, if you can't handle your drugs don't do them. Not that Josh Homme is an angel, kicking female photographers in the face, if you can't handle your drink don't drink. There is a saying in my country "the moment you raise your hand to a woman, you cease to be a man".
True, there's no excuse for either of them to do the things they did. But that's life, we all make mistakes.
To all the commenters, fans, etc: Dont put people on a piedestal. Please. Its bad for them, its bad for you. So just stop it. People are people, and it will never change. Look to your own life, I believe there are things to be fixed there... right now actually.
Nick’s wearing one of my favorite sword shirts. Hell yeah. Good taste. Ha.
Bullshit Nick. Josh has ALWAYS been the front man of Queens.
josh is bad
im somewhat divided on this subject. i mean rated r and songs for the deaf made qotsa what they are, but i dig the sound with Michael Shuman as bass player as well. i can see how Josh Homme is perceived as the front man because he's the vocalist, but Joey Castillo and Troy Van Leeuwen give the band just as much of a unique sound as Josh Homme does as well.
nick is 1000% right about everything he said in this interview.
I think they've always been amazing, but SFTD is their peak.
Clever title.. "back Homme"
That was a really shitty thing for Josh to do to Nick. That egoistical prick has robbed us all of years of great music because of him kicking Nick and Mark Lanegan out, taking over the whole musical direction of the band, and all just because he was getting jealous of Nick's popularity. Nick brought so much to the band while he was in it, and the band seems to lack a lot of edge since he got betrayed and was kicked. That is why "Songs for the Deaf" will always be their best album.
i see this guy every now and then
I love the more fun take the piss sound of Turnin on the screw and I'm designer. I love the "get pumped"ness of Run Pig Run. I don't even know why I love into the hollow but I do. Era Vulgaris is one of my favourite albums of all time and certainly the QOTSA I enjoy most. Make it wit chu is nice chill and 3's and 7's is damn fun!
The man actually told the truth. It's not like quotsa cant be quotsa without him, but you notice that there are certain elements missing, and a bich of stuff that would sound a lot different (imo better) if he had a say.
True. He added some simple and straightforward, no-bullshit balls to Homme's melancholic and experimental stuff. They were better together than they are apart.
hes the best bassist of qotsa imo technically
queens of the stone age : josh homme , nick oliveri
rated r : josh homme, nick oliveri
songs for the deaf : josh homme , nick oliveri , dave grohl
remember those albums dear "fans"?
Nick didnt play on the first album.
How can I hear this whole track
Still waiting for the return
stop asking nick and john about josh all freakin time
now that josh has kicked a female photographer in the face he should let nick back in the band
Lol! That's like saying "We're even buddy".
Not to mention the fact he was beating the shit out of his GF. That's why he was let go from the band.
Qotsa is nothing without Nick, he totally brought a vibe into it.
The band lost it´s mysteriousity!
did you even listen to like clock work my guy? its literally their most "mysterious" work to date
@@deanyy3373 to be fare he made that comment before clockwork was released. Pc n Love
i wonder what songs he would have changed up off the newerr stuff
Nick didn't play on the debut album. Just proves they don't need him.
And it wasn't as good as Rated R and Songs For The Deaf, lol.
Damn straight, very few bands can put out stuff like that consistently. I don't think people really know how much talent and effort it takes to do that seeing as every fucking person is a critic these days! Rock on dude!
Dream on Nick.
Nick didn't play on that one either. And all 5 albums are great, anyone saying anything other than that is lying to themselves and everyone else.
Kicking Nick out was a business decision.
A business decision? Lol he would still be in the band if that were the case. It was a personal decision due to Oliveri allegedly hitting his girlfriend at the time.
nick would be beastly for the next tour
❤
I miss that dude
Regardless he still contributed, his presence will be there.
Who would've guessed that there would be ARGUING in the comments over QOTSA!!! What a shocker.
I'll be one of many to say that Nick is an awesome bassist, and even if he's not with Queens anymore he's still kicking ass. And Queens is still kicking ass. So what's there to argue about?
Nick was a great part of Queens, I hope he play again with them, though I don't think it's gonna happen
you were right, but after all mickey is just better
Songs For the Deaf was almost 20 years ago?!?!? Wtf man...
QOTSA better off without him, really?!!
Man, we really must have different tastes!!!
Rated R and Songs for the Deaf, that was really something! A perfect balance!
But then, Josh has felt the urge to rule his thing!
No more balance, and here's your dull band!!!
Huh I listen to QOTSA for over 14 years and from the first day I always pronounced Homme like Home until I saw this video lol
Some of the QOTSA-songs Nick sings on are pretty awesome like Tension Head.
What I miss most is his bass playing though.
actually if he´s not gonna have Nick back(which he probably isnt) I´d still like to see him get rid of that Shoeman-dude. he doesnt really bring anything to the table as far as I´m concerned and his headbanging is just gay.
I hope Nick manages to stay out of trouble in the future and I really don´t care if he hit his girlfriend or whatever.
METH HEAD
PUSSY
he sounds like he's about to cry
I love NICK
Seeing him talk already proves the reason he got kicked out of the band. Still I really liked his kind of style, too bad drugs were taking over rather then music. I can see the reason why he got kicked out, but still his talents are missed. I bet alcohol and drugs are to blame for beating his wife, since Its the biggest issue in domestic violence. Drugs, they make you feel cool for a short period of time, but on the longer run they fuck you up.
agree dude! since Nick left QOTSA has lost a bit of balls..
I love how all the new blood that wasn't around or even seen them play live back in the day hate on Nick , did he make some bad personal choices yes I'm sure you have too as a human but he brought balls and some good things to the band I miss the guy they seem alittle water down without ... I guess we will see what happens in the future but take your hate somewhere else newbies
Just another of Homme's coattail riders, like Jesse Hughes.
QOTSA were never the same without Nick. He added the extra edge, the danger, the punk attitude. Now the band sounds gloomy and indie, with no balls at all.
Like Clockwork is a musical voyage, it's one of their best, most mature and most complete and rich albums to date. And Nick was on it. You'd do well in knowing these things before throwing cheap empty comments like that on just another of his many resented, presumptuous, unrealistic interviews from 2 years ago. 2 years ago. He's a better man now, instead of just trying to pose as one.
He's wearing a Sword shirt :)))
QOTSA with Nick again would be cool
i think josh never treated queens as a career...untill queens became a career. and he has to protect his career... nick would of ruined it at some point...so he had to get rid unfortunately.
I agree about Era, there are a couple of decent tracks but overall it is very average. I thought Lullabies is a good album, not as good as self-titled, rated r and songs for the deaf but it is far from crap!! It has a different and more mellow vibe which i appreciate anyway..
All of this is true because he fires people after an album so even if you don't believe it I myself have heard this many times over and over.
You posted this in 2019 when they've had the same lineup for the past 3 albums??
@@Thtgrlspsn Nah, he got rid of Joey Castillo and hired Jon Theodore. Lanegan didn't even appear on the latest album, which was a shame.
So many addicts smack their lips when they talk. Saw this dude at an eyehategod gig nearly a decade ago, I kept my distance lmao
Sour grapes...QOTSA is a good as ever🤘🤘
I already answered that. Reread my comments to find it.
Ok say what you want about Nick, he certainly did some fucked up things but that was ten years ago and I just don't think it's right to punish someone for their whole life over something. Josh Nick are really good friends and I reckon Josh would regret never playing with Nick again.
@getmedjr guess you didn't hear the news about nick standing off with a SWAT team...lol
Running joke is a sick song though.
I am a longtime musician and I have liked Nick's Bass playing since he first popped up on the scene in ('92-93')with Kyuss. But in my personal opinion? I think that Scott Reeder is the better bass player. His sound, style,& tone reminds me of Geezer Butler.Scott Reeder place-based left-handed but his base is strong up for a right-handed person. It's crazy to see somebody play a bass guitar with the six strings at the bottom in the thin strings at the top. He's a pioneer and innovator in the way he approaches his instrument Scott.
No, it's not their best. Songs for the Deaf is THE qotsa album
Well, He's defenitely not coming back after this.
I miss him.
I hope you grew up since then. Because this line of logic was bonkers.
Nick Oliveri made QOTSA. You can definitely tell it doesn't have the same punch. He should get his shit together and Josh should stop being a little drama queen :) Just make good music, we need it bad.
word.
@3nilkostasGR Sorry mate I have too disagree - First album is all Homme with a shit hot drummer - that is the true Queens sound, they just kept evolving from there.
@evilknivel84
you obviously missed my point of what i were trying to say...
and after some research i made, you are right... nick didnt perform on the self titled album..
Honestly i liek era vulgaris quite a bit because whoever was writing for it got a great style of using the music to express the vocals. But i agree songs for the deaf is quite good.
Love what Nick added to Queens. Even John Paul Jones isn't as good with Josh. As amazing as John Paul Jones is. Guess they had some good chemistry or something.
No one misses
nick...
Why does Nick has to criticize Josh?
you should've replied straight to his comment. that's also the 1st thing i thought when i read it
I miss you Nick!
He isn't back... All he has done is gave some vocals on the new album and that is all, that doesn't mean he is back in the band.
QOTSA have been garbage since he left. He was the special sauce they’ll always need.
He won't go "Homme" for at least 15+ years...
best part 01:50 - 02:17
Queens used to be so cool. I miss the real QOTSA.
i have a feeling that there's some truth in what nick is saying.. the frontman part and the yes man part..
i still love queens though..
Hmm...I was at a Kyuss Lives concert and a woman was upset about that he had beaten his wife. "He is such an asshole" but a girl I was there with just answered "Well, who knows what she did"
I'm absolute anti-macho but there always two sides... ;)
and in my opinion Queens of the Stone Age with or without Nick and especially Dave Grohl are at best a decent band
indeed mi nick
