I've kept all the recordings of Jonathan Cecil's narrations I could find. They're all PG Wodehouse books & all combine beautifully executed English, read in a voice rich in timbre (he was a virtuoso; so many characters & accents) with elegant humour & intelligence. I pop in my earbuds & let him read me to sleep. These recordings are so amusing and evocative of a bygone era, yet soothing, too.

The narration of Jonathan Cecil was lovely. The story unfortunately I found rather aggravating. I felt that the main character, Sally, needed a good kick in the backside. I wish PG woodhouse would give his heroin's a little more backbone.
the actor reading this book is very good! and his American accents are pretty good. (Except for the Brooklyn office boy, which absolutely awful!! :} LOL ). but he really makes it a fun read - and brings out the emotional qualities for each character. but sometimes English readers make the most awful faux pas. the Mojave desert is pronounced Mo-ha-‘-vay (ha as in ha ha) - it’s an Indian/Spanish name.). we also never said “the Grand Central Station” - just Grand Central Station like Central Park. (that’s P.G’s mistake.) i mean i know it’s not pronounced Chalmondelly, but Chumly. (i have no idea how to spell it and i learned the pronunciation from a show on TV “The Danny Thomas Show” - he made it really hilarious and i never forgot that scene!)
Who wrote "3 men In A Boat, not to Mention The Dog?" ( Yes, that's IS the title) That is the same type of humor and seldom posted. Might you consider an unload of that gold piece? M
There is a time travel book by Connie Willis called To Say Nothing of the Dog that is set in the same period as Three Men in a Boat (well it starts in more modern times but then they go back in time to find something that has great importance later in World War II). There is a lot of boating on the Themes and it is very funny,

The reader is so good. The way he reads really makes the humor come through!
Brilliant reading if brilliant story
😅😅
" she had to stop talking to allow her her mind to clear itself of rude thoughts"
Sally's method is one I should try!

Who is Frederick Davidson? Is that a synonym for Jonathan Cecil?
Everyone has their own Wodehouse. Cecil is very definitely not mine.

You need to give credit to the times it was written.

100 years ago, they may have still said The Grand Central Station. Speech was more formal then.
