Rock sling, variations of glintstone pebble, Rykard’s rancor, Loretta’s greatbow, the new glintstone nail, sorceries/incantations are infinitely better than bows, even more so when you consider you can also buff yourself with the same stats you need to attack.
@@fsylar1188it was never about DPS. The basic bow gameplay by itself (without Lightbow moveset & AoW) is very underwhelming. Medium bow is unusable without a light bow moveset. And most “builds” consist of spamming Barrage 90%, or using Royal Knight’s Resolve glitch to apply Bows. That’s not gameplay. That’s compromising. People had to adapt to the limited options given because of the underwhelming base damage. It is as if FS doesn't want it to be viable. Just tools to shoot those Fire Pillars in Catacombs. They did good with Simon’s Bowblade in Bloodborne. Dunno why didn't do it again. You should see Dragons Dogma 2’s Bow gameplay. Now that's Archery.
@@fukunaga-kane Simon's Bowblade was a bit of a mess. I have done that build and while it's fun the constant lack of arrows sucks. This Ansbach build seems overpowered though. The safety of range combined with low fp usage and high damage.
my main problem, and really the biggest reason I'll probably never bother with a bow build in this game is the fact that I have to go and buy arrows, or make them. Say what you will about Lords of the Fallen (the new one), but it did 2 things objectively better than any fromsoft game: co-op and archery/ranged combat.
second this. I also had to step away from SOTE for a bit because i was so turned off by getting to Bale, and realizing u can only target his face. I had my bow build with rain of arrows. it didnt make sense mechanically or lorewise. Why can we not target his big ass body so i can use my ash affectively. If i put it on his face he dodges it easy by just swaying a bit. it pmo bad
Bow builds are really fun. And surprisingly easy to handle, once get used to it. My bow playthrough was (for the most part) among the easiest I have done.
@@elmase2163 Because the moment you run into a boss that cant be bled, like radagon and elden beast, all your damage goes out the window. Bows across the board have the lowest scaling in the game and are hard limited by the amount of arrows you can carry.
Thank you! You’re trading off damage for a lot of safety. And now with all the extra bow talismans you can have some good ass damage too. People want bows to do as much as melee and at this point they do! I think the damage here is amazing, I NEED to try this out
Surprised you didn’t leverage blood arrows with fan shot more, that skill can proc bleed very easily and usually bleed arrows take forever to work otherwise. Still, fun build :)
There are three things I would add to this build, just to invest some points into 12 faith for flame cleanse me on the Dragon Communion Seal (it weighs nothing) & the +8 inherent arcane your getting from the lamenters mask. The Poisoned hand in the offhand & the Poison perfumer bottle with whatever bow you have equipped. The poisoned hand when equipped off hand boosts damage by 10%, the perfumer bottle allows you to self inflict yourself with poison, which can then be cured with that single faith spell or bollusk. And replacing the Ritual Talisman with Rots Exultation for another 10% damage whenever Poison or Rot is afflicted in the area. For a whole additional 20% damage on top of what you're currently doing for just a couple additional points in faith & mind.

I probably won't ever use this build, but I just found out you can use Mighty Shot aimed. Just goes to show even after all this time, always something to learn, even something small like that, how neat.
It's really good with the talisman that raises damage when precision aiming. Mighty shot, pulley bow, and that talisman with the others really make it a great sniper
I would recommend Rain of Arrows on the Albinauric Bow and use the Pulley Bow for Mighty Shot. The Pulley Bow gets better damage but can't be change it's ash of war, and Rain of Arrows is very good at dealing with large enemies efficiently.
Great build there Fextra! the headshot sounds on elden ring are so damn satisfying... i wish ansbach bow did more damage with bleed arrows, it would help the build and fit perfectly.
What they really needed to do for this dlc was add a smithscript bow. All the smithscript weapons are ranged or throwable with unlimited ammo, same with the perfume bottles. If theres one thing that genuinely needed an option for unlimited ammo its the bow. That was it could atleast become a legitimate weapon and not just a side option that people only use as a build when they get bored
for the normal game i played mostly strength weapon and a seal. i think for the dlc i will play a dex weapon and a bow. looks fun. this video gave me a little inspiration.
Don’t forget about the spear talisman! Forget blue dancer and grab the spear talisman with rakshasa set amd divine beast helm, no light roll but I don’t find it necessary in my play style as I do have a great katana equipped for cqc

theres literally one bad incarnation and a bear claw. those are really good theres a vid with 3 status and endure try that. its best fitted for those kind of builds (and the only real one) unfortunatly yet again garbage design on fist and claw from fromsoft... (and the bear stuff)
I'd be interested in a build around the poison glove weapon you can get from the first legacy dungeon. I used it just a bit and it seemed surprisingly good, even un-upgraded.
I hope whatever From makes next, they finally make bows a real thing and not a challenge run build. It will require a total reworking of how archery works in these games, but they absolutely should be a mainline build along with the rest.
Give us special “skills” that can be assigned to memory slots like spells. Could make archery super fun. Could make melee super fun. Imagine throwing a lions claw out into a bloodhounds back step as a dex fighter 😮
I have question ... why did they not add a smithscript bow? I guess the mechanic of this will be that no matter which arrow you use, they will be returned to your inventory after landing. Probably this will be a normal weapon so you can add an ash of war like mighty shot, or rapid shot, gravity shot and so on. And the only way to balance this is to lower the damage scaling by a lot so you trade for more utility and make other bows more viable for damage output.
There’s also a bridge in the base game on the way to activate a great tube where you can farm storm hawk arrows but I can’t remember which one!!! But love this content been wanting to do a bow build I feel bows are underrated esp golden bow upgraded with golem arrows. Which also are a pain to farm btw

As it is not explained anywhere on the elden ring wiki I wanna ask players and possibly the creator, that on the website if you were to check for weapons on the wiki, under the Attack power section does the STA show stagger damage , if so then how to read it I mean lance (great spear) shows stagger damage of 122 which I guess is not correct as it seems a little bit too much ? How to read that value ?
I can't understand why they did not add a FEATHER SELLER BELL BEARING to this game. The feathers especially the stormhawk variant must be the most annoying and tedious things to farm.
Alternatively you can get to 15 faith for flame grant my strength and then buy unlimited fire arrows. I went this route because im too lazy to farm lol
I really want to try a build using Ansbach’s Bow and Scythe and maybe a third weapon with a Bloodflame Incantation, but like the storm arrows, I’d have to farm for Blood arrows unfortunately.

I just run around with the normal unfletched bone arrows both the normal ones and the blood ones and this. when i run out i just craft more cuz thin bones and bloodrose can be bought
Talisman wise how good is the one that boosts arrow attack when you precision aim? Surprised you don't use it as 95% of you taking out enemies in the field/dungeons is using precision aim.

On the wiki it doesn't have a section for attributes. I also have to click through the video to find it.
it seems like 1 arrow does half the overall damage and hitting 2 arrows does the full damage. hitting more than 2 does not increase damage (I have 130 hours on a bow character)
Just started using the alba bow with storm arrows, pairs well with the storm blade nagakiba which does so much dmg i feel like I'm cheating, but good for first play thru

They used to be pretty good in like DS1 and DS2 era, but kinda went downhill after DS3.
47? there are like 5 decent spells for damage and like 3 incantations that all cost tons of fp to use ,for bows you just need runes to buy arrows
DS2 had some of the best Bows and Crossbows of the series. Like freaking Lightning bolts out of a bow or a BFG Dark Crossbow.

i’ve been playing through the entire dlc with a bow at level 110-150… it’s totally doable!

Yeah but Harrower Dervlas crossbow with twisted bolts was actually way too good and made the game extremely easy

If/when you can afford the weight an offhand sacrificial axe with golden vow AoW could improve both your damage and the fp efficiency of might shot.
I love bow builds. I remember finishing DS2 with a bow build, ranged only. I really enjoyed.

You could also use the sharpshot talisman
Another major downside to this build is all of the NPC bosses (which there are a ton) that will just spam roll every shot ;.(

The best classes for this build are the vagabond and the samurai and if you go the faith route it’s the samurai

Super interesting build, but that I'd need to voluntarily go near the murder birds kills it for me.

I don't think FROM will ever make Bows be as viable as they were in DS2. Which really is unfortunate.

To make bows good make it so you can craft 1 arrow and keep it so u don't have to make anymore it's dumb that I have to farm arrows to use a weapon

why does spead shot uses 8 arrows but rain of arrows from Radan great bow only uses 1…. this has to be a bug right?
How about adding faith so you use blessings of the erdtree also to offset the health drain.. I already do a version of this build
