No. You weren't even BORN yet.
Nope. If this is what you think raises questions about Tim's maturity you're rage farming. Tim's lack of maturity is a central theme of the show, and there are much worse moments that don't need to be misconstrued.
The Cheers clip exposed how women who are portrayed as smarter and more successful don't get taken seriously, and did a decent job of showing how ridiculous the people doing it were. It's as important today as it was then to highlight that this happens.
No. I’m offended by how human animals still treat natural animals.
No its comedy its good, Why is it a problem that some people offended. I am offended by gay couples and trans in TV.
To be fair, married with children was supposed to be offensive. I know a lot of lowbrow people understood it on a personal level, but I think the joke was on them because the family was portrayed as dimwitted, slutty, horny and low class. If the same sentiments were shown on a show like ER then we might be surprised and outraged. It was all supposed to be outrageous.
that was the whole point. You were never meant to side with al cuz he's always a horrible person. The no ma'am stuff was literally mocking mens rights groups that were starting to get big in the 90's
@@sandrasnow-balvert7766
Wrong.
@@dennistaylor5065 yanno your argument would be much more persuasive if you actually had any actual points or thoughts on that rather than just wrong. But of course you can't argue with me cuz you know I'm right you just don't want to admit it.
@@sandrasnow-balvert7766 you are partially wrong. He was the hero of the show showing the daily struggle of the common person. People could relate to him and could learn what is bad and good behaviors. So, in previous generations people understood people were complex, married with children showed how life was for the common person and negative aspects about them as well. Besides Al’s brash nature his most dominant character trait was he was a misogynistic man. He didn’t disprove of his friend being trans, he disproved of his friend becoming a woman. He doesn’t like gay men because he finds them more feminine, but at the same time hen enjoys when they do typically wife things like cooking. He doesn’t mind more masculine lesbians either.
@@sandrasnow-balvert7766Al just wants to be succesful in life
You're not supposed to follow what more than half of these characters do. They're portrayed as wrong, stupid, or both
THIS EXACTLY. I’m as liberal as the day is long , but not everything is all offensive. They aren’t supposed to be epitomes of greatness.
I can't imagine being so sensitive that I get retroactively offended lmao
I think you guys miss the targets of a lot of the jokes mentioned. The characters were often being portrayed as clueless idiots, doing/saying something stupid. They would often end up as getting comeuppance for there behaviour. If the shows were making these look like reasonable points, then there placement would be valid
Attention anyone that doesn’t understand: just because it’s animated doesn’t mean it’s for children. Parents were up in arms about South Park, but it aired after 10 PM on the comedy central net work. Anyone with a brain should understand that. Beavis & Butthead was for older teens. Ren & Stimpy was not necessarily a kid show. If parents actually care about what their children watch, then they don’t need to be upset. It was easier to monitor what children’s saw it on television when we just had cable, but it’s still possible to keep things you find objectionable from being viewable on young children’s iPads, or phones
I feel like it’s the opposite: it was harder to monitor what they watched on cable (especially if they had a tv in their bedroom) vs now you can put parental limits on an iPad and iPhone.
So, it's extremely obvious that Ms.Mojo missed the point with a lot of these comedies and their characters. Tim, AL, Frasier, etc...
Them being clueless and in some cases, sexest was the point. People laughed at the stupidity of it. But, that's because back then, people understood comedy along with a little thing called, "Irony." But, let's face it. Everything today is considered offensive. This whole list was a huge reach. You were looking for something to be mad about.
Never sure if the inability to understand humor at MsMojo is real or just a means of trolling people into making comments to help drive the algorithm.
Never sure if the inability to understand humor at MsMojo is real or just a means of trolling people into making comments to help drive the algorithm.
WatchMojo has done stuff like this for years. It’s not that deep.
Wasn't that episode of Dawson's Creek just highlighting a real problem in society? Was it bad to promote awareness and discussion of an important topic on TV?
Exactly. Even just seeing the clip, the grandma seems like she’s in the wrong. She cares more about modesty than her own granddaughter getting assaulted.
I love NO MA'AM!!
It was one of my favorite aspects of Married With Children.
It was hilarious. It was awesome. I was supreme social satire.
👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
literally no one who watched this in the '90s had any issues with any of it
Speak for yourself
That’s like saying no one had issues with minstrels shows. The people affected by them had no or little voice. Today it’s different in both good and bad ways. The internet, social media have given a well deserved voice to the those hurt, marginalized, stereotyped, by such instances. As mostly caring human beings we evolve with the times. We strive always for a better inclusive society. Someone once said, comedy at another’s expense is the lowest form and makes a poor comedian. I don’t think we need to feel guilty about laughing at the time, but with understanding now, we can sympathize for those hurt by it.
@@musickbed You're such a typical SJW, you know that? 🤡
@musickbed are you seriously comparing these entries to MINSTREL SHOWS?!?!??!
I will admit to not having watched any minstrel shows but I’m going to wager none of them pushed the point that the black people they were mocking deserved equal respect.
In these shows the misogyny, homophobia, victim blaming were part of the story teaching AGAINST those things, or parodying then (NOMA’AM)
Literally NOTHING like Minstrels
@@toddroycexxl All caps, gotta love it. Do you know the excuses they gave FOR minstrels shows IN those times to those upset…parody. Parody, yes, funny TO us, yes, funny to all in the groups parodied, maybe not.
The thing you have to keep in mind about Joey telling that student to play the character, "super gay" is that unlike so many other things on this list, this was something that was portrayed as wrong at the time, in that episode, when it happened.
This whole list was full of points that went over Ms.Mojo's head.
Yea Friends was derided as being too liberal until about 10 years ago when it flipped.
It should be noted that Al Bundy and Fraiser were presented as jerkasses (in and out of universe), even during their shows' initial runs.
Exactly. They were playing the roll of ass hats and it was comedy. People forget a different time.
Truth
Frasier is a jerk
In Dawson’s Creek, that was just how Grams was and she evolved from there.
I really miss Married with Children. What a classic
Honestly, im very dissappinted in watchmojo for this video.
Me too.
Married with children greatest of all time 🎉❤
Ms Mojo should change its name to Miss-the-Point Mojo.
The only problem with Apu was the male Karen who had problem in the first place.😤😤😤😤
#BringBackApu
Yeah! This is all his fault! I hate him so much! Apu was on of the best characters on The Simpsons. If he kept his mouth shut, Apu would still be on the show.
@@cartooncentral263Apu has nothing to do with it
The thing about the NO MA'AM saga on Married With Children is that they are parodying both toxic masculinity *and* overly aggressive feminism. I think is fair to say that anti-feminists and feminists sometimes go a little overboard in presenting their ideals, and that is what they were ultimately mocking. Al Bundy is a comedic character in the mold of Archie Bunker - unsympathetic, crude and sure of his own view of the world.
13:26 This is all his fault Apu has been written out of The Simpsons!
Apu was one of the best characters on the show. Hardworking, humble, a good father and faithful husband; but, without the self righteousness of Ned Flanders. Apu was often the voice of reason on the show, he treated everyone with respect even though he was aware of the faults of patrons. I wish people there were more like Apu in real life.
It's not fair to judge past events by present standards.
Of course it is. It’s not like morality has actually changed. If it’s wrong now it was wrong then.
Though you can be understanding as to why someone or something was morally flawed.
@@Skutealso these entries were definitely judged by the standards of their time
So past racism, slavery was ok, and shouldn’t be judged by present standards? We can learn from these mistakes and become better. Those doomed to ignore history, repeat it.
It’s not just unfair, it’s brainless to do so.
@@Skutewell when I was a teenager I thought that way too. But then I grew up. You’ll understand when you get older.
Unfortunately, victim blaming is all too common in today’s society, and I haven’t seen even one episode of _Dawson’s Creek._
Sometimes,it is the victim's fault.
Sorry about that man.
@@crimsonmoonrise9785 no, the only person whose fault it is is the perpetrator. It is NEVER the victims fault they are a victim. What a terrible perspective you have. God help the women in your life.
This wasn't victim blaming, it was this girl being held accountable for not disclosing her age and leading the dude on.
I very deeply feel that your comment is wrong on multiple levels for very clearly it was not the girl's fault and she was not in any way leading the old guy on at all. And, when a woman or young lady says "NO", it means "NO". For she has the right to stop being physical with another person at any time for no apparent reason. This incident from Dawson's Creek is very clearly VICTIM BLAMING. @@angelaavila5508
This list seems to be aimed at people born after the 90s or who were young kids. I was a Native of NYC in my 30s and only the media got bent of shape about these but actual human beings had much thicker skins. The Apu thing was out of context. The Simpson’s, from it’s start as a short piece on The Tracey Ullman show, offended everyone from the start. Ren and Stimpy also started by offending everyone
I agree, it seems more like an attempted (and incredibly biased) history lesson for Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
@@mastersnet18 thank you for agreeing 🙏🏼☮️🌈
@@batgurrl yea it’s weird how things that were considered liberal merely a few decades ago (or even more recently) are now considered conservative. Strange how fast those labels got switched.
Somehow I think you’re out of step with the times and ironic humour.
Clearly someone at MsMojo has no sense of humor.
it's Phoebe, all of the videos she narrates have the same basic premise about ripping apart things that were funny 20 years or more ago and are not funny now, mainly because of how woke society has become.
@@jeffb.6642Ah, I see I’m not the only one who notices such a pattern. Whether it’s this channel or the main channel, she always seems to narrate these kinds of lists. It’s crazy.
NO MA’AM! Love that show!!!!!!

Al Buddy, and the whole MC universe, is a god damn PARODY. You Gen Y and Z kids need to calm the fuck down.
With love, Gen X
Sarcasm is also a lost art
As a member of Gen Y, this list does not speak for me
@@TheTimplattesame, we grew up in the 90’s and 2000’s, which are now considered “offensive”. Why would WE be offended?
I think you mean Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
“Unforgivable.” Shut up lol
It really sad that people don’t get that people today don’t get the jokes they were meant to ne and meant no offense due to most f the writers on these shows were split of men and woman.
The Simpsons made fun of everyone equally & unapologetically & should've stayed that way. We loved Apu, he was a good character. They should've found an East Indian voice actor & all would be forgiven.
Going from representation by the character of Apu to no representation at all is hardly the social justice victory it would at first seem.
Yeah, the fact that they reassigned characters like Dr. Hibbert and Bumblebee Man to respective black and Puerto Rican voice actors but that they haven’t assigned an East Indian actor to voice Apu suggests to me that they don’t know how to portray Apu _except_ as a stereotype.
The Simpsons was a show made for white people by white people with stereotypes that parodied people how white peoples at the time saw them. Same with Married with Children, except the creators of Married actually asked the minorities they represented how they felt others perceived them.
@@COMPFUNK2 Apu is not to blame, they should get the right actor to play him.
Isn't it insensitive to think that only an East Indian actor can do an East Indian accent or that a person has to black or hispanic can voice those characters? Was it wrong for James Earl Jones to do the voice of Darth Vader - a white man? Or for a brittish actor to play an american doctor in House?
What ISN'T offensive these days?
I'm sorry, did you just assume *everything* is offensive?!
I feel very attacked. Congratulations. I now have PTSD from being involved in this.
Ren and Stimpy was one of my favorite childhood shows!
Same. It was worth it staying up late to watch Ren & Stimpy as a 10 - 14 yr old
This edition of MsMojo exemplifies how ignorant many people have become as it pertains to storytelling. An out of touch actor wannabe/teacher tells his student to play a character “super gay” as a plot line in a story, all of his Friends are upset at him, he learns his lesson, and that’s considered “offensive”.
We’ll never tell stories like this now because, PROGRESS.
Many valid examples but I did see a stereotype creeping in on the part of MsMojo. It was the assumption that just because a program is animated that it is automatically made for children. The ones who were the target audience for "Ren and Stimpy" were of college age and those in their early twenties.
One observation: Sometimes in the attempt to police some of these problems the cure is worse than the disease. A recent example is the live action "Snow White" remake that Disney has in production where dwarf actors have been cheated out of jobs because Peter Dinklage objects to the portrayal of little people in the original "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" and other movies. It IS possible to address the problems without pissing everyone off in misguided attempts to protect groups that you don't yourself belong to.
Agreed
REN and Stimpy ran on Nickelodeon. What college kids and 20 somethings were watching Nickelodeon in 1991?
"misguided attempts to protect groups that you don't yourself belong to."
this right here is the crux of it all.
90% of the time the People getting offended at something are just virtue signaling on behalf of a group they don't even belong to, trying to be their social justice hero.
Mind your own damned business and the world would be a lot better off for it. Maybe a lot of these "mental health" issues might even go away too, if people took time to worry about and address what they have going on in their own lives, instead of worrying about things like a black woman on a bottle of syrup
@@jeffb.6642true, and being offended on behalf of someone often makes you offend them in turn, because they don’t feel offended and now just see you as presumptuous!
@@sharilowrey6135 Again, the assumption that all animated shows are for kids. Not only from this UA-cam channel but by Nickelodeon way back then. And, yes, SURPRISE, there were college kids and 20 somethings who discovered this show was on that channel and turned to it to see it. They might have not been interested in the rest of the programming but they were interested in this.
today's comedies make people just stare into space and not even smile. I miss shows with comedy
The crazy part is despite the "Safari Zone" episode of Pokemon being banned, they still used some clips of the episode in the Pokerap, specifically the clips of Dratini and Dragonair and the clip where Misty reels in a Gyarados.
I think there could be a whole list of unforgivable moments of Seinfeld alone
Or just don't watch. It was a difficult time
Maybe don't watch it. A lot of people still love that show. But, mostly because comedy today sucks and fails to take any risks.
@@Winchester85 I love Seinfeld but I will admit there’s some moments that would only pass in the 90s
I am so sick of hearing about Apu.
Kal Penn is a hypocrite he claimed Apu was not unfunny but Kal is someone who said yes to epic movie
If I had a nickel for every time an old tv show treated male rape as a joke or something for dudebros to celebrate, I'd have like 13 at this point.
Heck, they don't even have to be old. Just look at how Glee handled it.
You kidding, you'd be a millionaire!
loved these shows. you need a sence of humor to understand and enjoy
Those were the days when watching television was actually good 💯
No Ma’am is a very based organisation who have done nothing wrong 😂
PRESENTISM: The introduction of present-day ideas and perspectives into depictions or interpretations of the past.
of course these things should've been shown when they were. That's how it was back then, and now we've moved on, and we can see growth. I'd be more offended if this type of entertainment was still stuck in those attitudes now.
But i understand why
I grew up watching Pokémon since it came out in the US and I was really proud to be a Pokémon fan for a long time. I’m so sad that ash and Pikachu adventures in the series are going away they will forever be missed. It’s so sad to know that they’re adventures are ending, if I didn’t grow up watching Pokémon, I would not be where I am today. Thankfully, Pokémon taught me about battles, friendships and caring for Pokémon. It’s still a good show even if ash and Pikachu‘s adventures are leaving the series. It’s great that they will always be remembered.
NO MA'AM was very infamous but a little funny
As much as I love Friends, the gay jokes have only served to age it. In fact, there was a UA-cam video compilation of all the homophobic jokes, and it came up to about an hour long.
The compliation will get longer over time as more and more things are being labelled as "homophobic".
Speaking of that, if people are wondering why the One with Chandler’s Dad isn’t on the list instead, that episode didn’t air until 2001.
It was a different time
How terrible ironic when up until 10 years ago the only complaints I heard about Friends was conservatives complaining about it being TOO LIBERAL. Then it did a 180 and now people complain it’s too “conservative”. I don’t know if it’s a generational switch or just the media changing it up.
@@jeffb.6642 ah yes of course. Like how gay people in the 70s loved being assaulted and called “disgusting faggots” but then a couple years ago we had a meeting and decided that was now going to be considered homophobic as of 2020. And not because people feel more willing and able to speak up against the hate and discrimination instead of just accepting it as normal.
Lists like this one always make me think about the stuff on television and movies that people will find offensive 20 years from now.
There's was no problem with Apu
It was a different time
Let's not forget
No Ma'am (crowd: YEAAAAAAAAH! WOOOOOOOOO!)
Could you imagine being this sensitive in the 90s 😂
Y'all completely missed the mark with your so callled #2 example of Joey on Friends. Let's see, you never mentioned that all his friends blasted him for what he did and you never mentioned that the guy he supposedly "ill advised" got the role while Joey didn't. I've never seen a content creator that cannot make up their mind whether Friends is a great show or the most horrible, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and any other ist/ic word you wanna throw at the show as you all do. Y'all are about to get on my last nerve and stop watching cause you can't make up your mind. And this is a stupid list, like just about 99% of your bash lists are.
👏👏👏👏👏
Liberals are always just as judgmental as they accuse everyone else of being.
Some of these cases, we were supposed to hate the characters, that was the point. Imagine trying to tell a story where everybody is perfectly good and no one is the bad guy.
Only some of these cases are unforgivable, those cases in which we weren't supposed to hate the characters.
Love No Ma'am lol still have my membership certificate
if no ma'am pissed you off, mission complete 🚫♀
None of these were unforgivable, some of these people need to toughen up, it’s entertainment, victim blaming has been happening for decades, some of these examples are to send a message in the story & others are the butt of the joke, when did people become such snowflakes that anything that might offend anybody became “unforgivable”
So many of these were in line with the character, the style and tone of the shows, and the humor was based around how inappropriate the behavior and attitude portrayed were. Sure Fraser could have had a more in depth retort but the simplistic blowoff was funny and spending more time on the subject would throw off the pacing of the show.
@@conniethesconnie exactly, people look back at the biggest shows of the 90s and say that wouldn’t work today & in some ways they’re right cause in todays world people are precious little snowflakes that can’t take a joke & look for ways to get offended over nothing, you’re absolutely right, spending more time on the subject would would ruin the pacing completely.
Friends Monica in a fat suit played for laughs
The ren and stimpy episode where ren beats his owner is unforgivable
So true!
They need to bring back these shows😂😂
It was a different time. People didn't get all up in arms about these kinds of jokes back then, including MOST of the people the jokes were directed towards.
Does that make it okay? Debatable.
But definitely not, "Unforgivable."
Thank you! That is perfectly said. The crude humor was from a different time and everyone was the butt in one way or another.
It's not the same these days and the jokes were often on the characters themselves
Things can be bad enough to be unforgivable, even if it was okay in the past. We know better now. Like considering how people feel about the US flag being burned I'm surprised that someone thought it was okay to burn the Puertorican flag on national TV as part of a joke.
@witchy90210 burning flags is wrong. The rest is not unforgivable and in ways the joke was on the character and it showed you what trash would look and sound like so you could laugh at it knowing you understand that is NOT how to behave and how to recognize those types of people. This video is an attention seeking attempt to victimize "again" with content people today never see anymore. It's trash, and it's to get people to argue. We are smarter than this. And no, don't burn flags! Do not fall for it. It's out of context! We are smarter than to fall for it
I should never have been allowed to watch Ren and Stimpy. It always disturbed me.
NO MA'AM 😂😅
I never found the show Friends funny.not because it’s offensive, but because in my opinion it’s not funny. Now Married with children, Seinfeld , and Ren and Stimpy are great
I don’t think the Puerto Rico day episode of Seinfeld was offensive. If you live in a place that has a lot of festivals then traffic is horrible. Trying to put out a fire on a flag is just the unintended catalyst for comedy. No one in the show try to make it sound like burning the flag is what we should do. And for all the people who are too dumb to understand: Puerto Ricans are American citizens. Quit telling them to go back to their own country, because they are technically part of the United States although not a state.
The last line you said, felt as a insult to other ethnicities
In the words of the great philosopher Bill Watterson: "we all know how funny good role models are."
This video solidifies it, I'm done with the channel. Best of luck MsMojo.

The sad truth is that because Katie Segal had a miscarriage they had to make the whole, no ma’am thing just a dream, because the baby was never born in the show or real life. The show was not supposed to be an accurate representation of what a good family is.
The "NO MA'AM" SAGA should be in the TOP 3!
I was having trouble getting through to some of my high school students about the subject of sexual harassment back in the early 1990s. I attributed it in part to what the students saw on TV at the time. Prior to going into teaching I had been conducting once monthly sexual harassment prevention workshops for the Naval Air Reserve.

TV shows should be allowed to express characters in any way that they choose. People are not supposed to learn morality through them. If that were the case, then all war movies, and shows with drugs, crime, and murder would have to be banned. Forms of entertainment should not be censored based on who feels offended by it, because in today's society, everything offends someone. This content was acceptable 20+ years ago because people at that time understood that it was simply a form of expression and were not offended by every word coming out of someone's mouth.
