It was interesting to hear from Steve that numbers at conventions are up, and train shops are claiming more business since "The Great Model Railway Challenge" aired. I always hope that something will spark a resurgence, I am just not sure it will last. In the end, model trains require money and some space, and young people tend not to have a lot. Smaller scales can help, but Steve is right about getting the word out to people. Model Train Hobby can be very cliquish and exclusionary, and folks have to see it living, breathing, and fun for anyone.
