    Was looking for a great example for my new sewing student to follow. This is perfect for her. I can show examples but sometimes have to be in different places.

    Hello, I like your easy grid 1"" squared cutting mat 😁 I am a Totally New Beginner to Quilting 😋 & I purchased an A3 green cutting mat with a rotary cutter 😁 & thee are a lot of markings on the mat, which makes it harder/sizing your cuts up 😋 but it's what I have at the moment 💜 Erica x

      How is it going. I've found if you can handle folding the fabric and cutting 4 layers, then a smaller board is not a problem. Start small, dream big!

    Nice runner. I like the zigzag pattern but would need to figure out how to make it shorter and still look nice since I have a smaller table.

    The ruler that you used to cut the fabric. I’ve been looking for one that size. Where did you purchase it?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  Місяць тому

      Hi Roxanna. It is 8.5" by 24" rotary cutting ruler. You can find them on amazon.com, Joann Fabrics and Crafts, etsy.com, and many other sewing websites. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍

    I think I’d do feathers in the print. And if someone wants it longarmed then make the backing and batting much bigger, at least 4” bigger all around.

  • @donnarichey144
    @donnarichey144 5 років тому

    If you would not have done the scant 1/4 inch would it might not have to trim ends of all the blocks. I am just asking this? Also can you go backwards with the walking foot? Some one said theirs broke when going backwards.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  5 років тому

      Hi Donna. If you use a regular 1/4" seam, you block probably will not have a finished size block of 12 1/2" square. If you use a scant 1/4" seam, you have a better chance of having your block finish at 12 1/2" square. No mater what size seam you use you still need to square all your blocks to the same finished size. When squaring a block you might have to trim some of the edges to get to the correct finish size. I hope this helped. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

    Where did you find your wonderful cutting mat, what size is it.?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  4 роки тому

      Hi Nancy. You can purchase one from Joann Fabrics and Crafts - use their coupon app to get up to 50% off. Also check out amazon.com - they sell all kinds of rotary cutting mats. My mat size is 33" x 56". Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

      Yes, you can cut the squares any size you. Make sure they are all cut the same size, and add 1/2" for seam allowance. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
