  • Although I have been using cameras for many years I have only really started using DSLR's properly in the last 18 months. I own several Canon DSLR's but last December decided to try Full Frame. The obvious choice was Canon 5D Classic. I struggled to find a good example plus they are plagued by mirror problems. I therefore turned to Nikon and decided I had to try the Nikon D700 Legend.
I absolutely love it, the pictures are so natural and need very little post processing to get the look I like.

In 2006 I began shooting weddings and other events with my D300 and was quite successful. In 2007 I purchased a D3 and a D700 and was getting images that were much better with colors and smoother backgrounds when using wider opened apertures. The sensor on each of the new cameras was the same. The D700 viewfinder was only 95 pct. But it was easy to adjust my use of it. The D3 has a 100% viewfinder. The D700 also only had one card slot. Later upgrades such as the D800 were not quite as good. I went back to the D3 & D700 when I began shooting for model portfolios and Manhattan street photos. I later ordered a Z7 but it had no 3D focus Tracking so I rarely use that body except for sports.
I forgot who provided the sensors back then.

Beautiful photos, congratulations. What lens/lenses did you use?

I have been suffering from GAS, gear acquisition syndrome, and have purchased lots of vintage Nikkor lenses. My favourites are 50mm 1.8 afd, 24mm afd, 105mm 2.5 ai and 200mm f4 Q-C converted to ai.

Thanks for the reply. Btw, have you ever tried Nikkor 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6G? I'm thinking should I or should I not buy it (for a d700/ Full Frame)

With a name like that, you're obviously north of the border! Lovely shots and obviously on a tripod - yes?

Thanks for your comment, yes North of the Border. But no not on a tripod, I have a tripod but hardly ever use it. It is possible one or two were taken on a tripod I can't honestly remember which ones.
