Thank you so much. This is my first ever comment since I have used youtube for about 7-8years. It is really informative for me who are preparing to go to Canadian highschool to go to U of W. It helped me a lot think about plan for U of W! Thank you so much!!
Thanks so much for your support! Love the comment and best of luck with U of W
잘 되고있나요?
This is absolutely amazing...As an international student, I was looking for a genuine video about possible expenses in the Uwaterloo w.r.t CS program and wasn't able to find one...But youtube suddenly recommended one after one month!!
btw, you are seriously underrated!!
:)
Great video man!
Btw people who are interested in other areas of Math than CS, the tuition is actually almost half .The international tuition is 32k per year. For specific majors like stats, the job prospects are fairly similar. It is a great privilege indeed
Great point! I would warn - many try to take math for the first 2 years and then transfer into cs but that's very difficult and you probably won't be able to (unless you have really good grades)
@@JasonGoodison I agree
Students should not study math thinking they can transfer. However, for students who are interested in math, the coop jobs are also great
The website of any college seems to make it intentionally hard to gather accurate info but your video genuinely helped break it down for me. Thank you so much Jason :)
This video is priceless, thanks for making this for us. Especially international students
Thanks sir
I have been waiting for this for so long .
Wow that was really really helpful!! Thank you so much
Great one Jason, this really helped me a lot.
Thank you!
From that pause in the intro I thought for sure you were gonna hit us with a Raid Shadow Legends sponsorship
Thank you 👍🏻 Good information ☺️
This is a very late comment but this was exactly the question I was wondering: thanks for the insight!
Hey. A bit late but at 3:35 you said not to pay co-op fees during co-op terms. Please explain cause I thought that is when you pay them and not during school terms.
THANKS
Thanks brother ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey man! Really good knowledge. Can you please make a video on all of the scholarships programs for cs students at waterloo. And also if their are some special scholarships for international students
I'll look into it!
Thanks, very informative 👍 Could you please also do the same for CS MMath?
If its highly requested I'll do it for sure! But all these numbers are publicly available
Hi Jason, just found out abt ur videos, it's been a blessing. Just wanted to ask, as an international student looking to get into a Waterloo Mechatronics engineering program how can I go abt it. What are the requirements. I am looking to apply for next year's program.
This was so helpful!! I'm an incoming cs freshman. Hope to connect with you soon.
Bro are you Nepali?
Can we connect
Cool video, the insight is great! Just wondering, wouldn't you multiply by 5 (cause I'm pretty sure eng and cs coop are 5 year degrees right)?
Nope! It's a 5-year degree but only 4 years of school (8 school terms), and 2 years of co-op. You don't pay tuition while on co-op.
One of the things I listed as a 'limitation' is that I didn't account for living expenses while on co-op because it was so variable - so you could multiply that part by 6 (4+2) if you wanted a more accurate number. But that's partly why I included the 15k safety
@@JasonGoodison Ahh i forgot that coop term = no tuition. Thanks for clarifying and keep it up :)
How did you calculate living fees during co-ops as 25k? Do companies help provide housing and other expenses? Also in a year where you only do one semester at school and two co-op semesters, do you pay half of a full-years tuition? Last question: Can you transfer IB and AP credits to Waterloo?
Nice Bro, I also wanna come to Waterloo for Masters in Computer Science or Data Science but it depends on which field I get better scholarship option. I'm International Student so, The question is for you What kind of scholarship a Master student can avail to support his Tuition Fee because spending 30k per year is quite a lot. I'm also Travel Vlogger.
This is also assuming you get no grants or scholarships. OSAP is pretty generous about that
if you dont mind me asking, do you know if the life sciences coop is as established and fleshed out as the comp sci ones ? I heard that there are a few lackings when it comes to sciences in coop
Life science co-ops are not as high paying or abundant as software ones but Im no expert on those ones
Hello, Is a Mechatronics Engineering degree worth pursuing if Computer Engineering option is not available? Provided that the student has interest in Robotics and the Software Side?
If we don't have coop in the first year, we still pay the coop fee? Architect coop begins in the second year.
Can't we pay the dept once at all or you must pay some of it every month
do i need to do my masters degree after graduating from university of waterloo or i’ll have a really good job as the student who has done masters as well
Got into Syde how does it compare to these numbers in terms of the coop?
Those numbers are also on the waterloo website! I'd guess they're pretty comparable
Your content helps out lot. I do have a question though... Can't an international student apply for citizenship after 3 years? Hence lowering costs?
No idea. For any visa/citizenship stuff I don't claim to be an expert
No you can’t. I mean you can apply but you probabaly won’t get in
"and remember, don't pay co-op fees on
co-op terms"
umm... what does this mean? if anyone could help
Do you think math co-op is worth it if you get rejected from CS? You can technically still apply to tech internships right? Would it just be better to go somewhere else for CS because would I be missing out on too many courses?
Yes but depends what you're comparing it to? Most engineers aren't in software but end up taking software jobs. You can do it too from math. Where else would you go?
@@JasonGoodison my other offers are CS/BBA (Laurier side), Queens CS and McMaster CS
@@granth6542 Math and CS are basically the same for the first 2 years. The only difference is the CS course (one is more advanced than the other). I'd say try Math and then if you need to transfer after 2 years you can still pick those other options
Man I got $20 CAD/Hr in a Canadian company, can you refer me in Microsoft for my second coop. I'm doing comp eng at UW
Does every (co-op)student in CS/Maths/Computer engineering undergrad courses able to get internship offer? What happens if student unable to get internship for work term?
If you dont get one and its getting late they assign you a person to help you get one and review your resume (I think this is still true).
If you dont get one you can either:
1. Do another school term and try again next time
2. Take a term off and build your own thing
hey brother is the 61,500 cad international fees for 1 term or 2 terms i am guessing 2 terms
silly question i guess but what are the chances of getting no coops at all? i mean how good should your marks be to get a coop in ireland and canada and US? please do answer..
My marks were average. You won't get 0 co-ops that would be tough. As long as you keep over a 70% average (I think that's the number but check it) if you go below that for too long you lose your co-op option
Hi I’m a French speaking passport holder speak and right I want to n’a a software engineer and I’m wondering do French people get like a discount on school or something like that?
Would be surprised if there was a discount for French people specifically. Maybe there are some bursaries im not aware of though.
Bonne chance!
@@JasonGoodison merci!
Can you do a similar video for arts faculty
How does this debt thing work? Does it mean I can defer yearly tuition fees until my year of graduation and pay it all at once(considering net debt)? Cuz I don't wanna loan a large amount and pay interests for 4 yrs
Debt depends on a lot of stuff (and there are government student debt options I wasnt able to qualify for) I'd recommend speaking with an expert as I am not one
@@JasonGoodison I'm also wondering how much will I end up paying in taxes as an international student on my coop earnings?
@@swagatbhowmik879 I assume normal Canadian tax
Thank you very much, actually I also can't find actual total amount Master In Mechanical Engineering for international student --Mc Master University, University of Alberta n University of British Columbia
I got most of these numbers from public websites so if they dont have those available then I wouldnt be able to calculate it :(
Last, this will be only dream for me to study at waterloo 😒
can you make vedeo on list of some cheap colleges for cs Students in canada?
What do you consider affordable? I'll see what I can do
@@JasonGoodison let's talk on insta
The tuition values you quoted were less than half that 10 years ago.
And still going up!
Sir how much do you make now? Nice video.
Its in the video!
Do students have to pay any taxes on this coop income?
Yes. You’re employed just like any other job when you do coop.
This is a *very* misleading video. Most students do not make that much during co-op.
Me after seeing International student fee 💔😂
I was in shock!
