- Some folk travel to the Isle Of Man for the TT Races by plane, some by Ferry, some by Helicopter…
But in this video you get to see just how myself and my wife make the yearly trip on our little 5.8 Meter RIB, this little boat is around 40 years old and the 100HP 2 Stroke V4 Suzuki engine is around 35 years old! This trip, while not the scariest trip we have ever had, was definitely the most brutal we’ve had! We can usually nip across in around 1.5 hours, but this year with the North Easterly breeze of around 5mph it made for a rather bouncy ride that took us 3 hours to reach Peel Harbour (missing the tidal gate rising) and 2 days to recover from….
More people than ever this year recognised us as the 2 eejits in the little blue RIB and we always get asked what it was like… so this year we decided to video some of our crossing, we hope this might give some of you a laugh 😂 and maybe give others that are planning to make the crossing an insight to what its like in such a small boat.
The waves and weather is always changing and we always need to be on the lookout for “rogue” waves… we definitely caught some extreme air during this crossing… sit back with a brew and don’t take your eyes of the screen, our TT adventures start the second “Big Balloo” enters the water!
How do you get to the Island? Let us know in the comments below 👇
