Blue Java's are the variety I so desperately seek most for my farm. They're seemingly impossible to find. I've been trying for 3 years. Another great banana video, Frugal! I'm sinfully somewhat jealous.😊
@TheFrugalHugelGardener I lost a dozen trees as Ernesto passed over last week. Dug most of the root balls out and mostly gave them away to friends, a few I actually sold for cheap. Making room for more fig and nimwa silks! Every fallen tree was an Orinoco, of which I have a couple hundred. The storm was a blessing in disguise.
Any tips for keeping ice cream banana plant alive over the winter in Northeast? Planning to bring inside, set up grow light and hope to get bananas next summer.
if it is only 4ft tall, it may be the ultra dwarf variety. that depends on your zone, climate, compost, water, etc. all mine bud in five to six months. as shown in my videos.
Please trust me when I say that it will be a life changing experience if you add a couple scoops of either Hagendaz or Ben n Jerry's Vanilla bean Ice cream to your cereal there with those Bananas you grew.
Once you try adding really good Icecream to your cereal and milk, you'll wonder why you never did it before. Especially if its 90 deg outside. it makes the Icecream really cold in a good way and makes the Cereal taste so much better. With your fresh Bananas would be and extra thing to take it to even another level.
lol I used to eat Ben n Jerry's all the time, very good tasting ice-cream. these days, trying to keep my weight down somewhat. BUT, now it's on my mind so I may need to go get some LOL
@@TheFrugalHugelGardenerCool, yeah I bet it would be amazing with Soy milk also. Definitely gotta be careful with eating too much Icecream, but I think life is too short not to splurge/endulge maybe one day a week. Eat healthy 6 days a week, and have one day you eat whatever you want!

Haven't heard from you in a while. Thanks :-)

@@stjbananas sorry to hear about the storm, I also lose a lot when a hurricane passes through. at least something good came from it.
@TheFrugalHugelGardener the bright side of life IS banana farming🙂

Hi, on my Banana Group (link is in the videos description) we have posted how members are doing this.
@@TheFrugalHugelGardener Awesome, thanks.
I have dwarf Cavendish that are 4ft tall and I started cutting off some leaves to 5. How long will it take to get fruit?
