I avidly enjoy anime, and have watched quite a few. I had never heard of this Redline until reading a review of a different anime that caught a comparison to it. How I never discovered it makes me feel as if I had been living under a rock.
One of the few rare times I prefer the Dub over the Sub version. Something about JP's line "You're just a voice pal, you don't know a damn thing about racing." can't be replaced.
hands down the best intro to any racing movie ever. this is how you sell the sheer speed and insanity of these races. abso-fucking-lutly love this movie
That last frame around 9:52 with the car hood in the sun is such a powerful frame: its first thing about JP to stop moving the whole time he is on screen. Beatifully framed falling action
I watched this movie 3 times the first day I saw it. It's so colorful, fun, and shallow enough to dance in over and over. I think this is the only bluray I own.
At 7:34 it shows 'km/h' for the big numbers but also 'k/m' for the smaller red numbers. The outer numbers are actually MPH because if you read the bottom where it says he's doing 400 km/h he's doing 248 MPH which it does show his needle past 240. When I watched this movie I didn't notice this and I thought they were all going like in the range of like 400-600 MPH. Maybe during the turbo lol.
If you look more closely, you can see that every single number on that dial is "280" in a very scrubby fashion, as in if the eyes cannot really see it and it becomes blurry, meaning you cannot really see what speed they are going at. Definitely done on purpose, and they are probably going over 900km/h lol!
How have I never seen this or heard of this, WTF?! This is soooo good. It feels like what watching Speed Racer felt like to my scrambled kid brain all those decades ago. Damn

Have to be a different story. JP and Sonoshee died when the car ripped apart and their spirits crossed the finish line 🥲. Technically they won, which is all they wanted.

I'm surprised to see so many commenters say they've never heard of redline. I've seen many recommendation lists that included this movie over the years. I guess people tend to pick shows over movies when looking for something to watch. Personally I've known about redline for a while, but I only got to watching it recently.

IMO, this movie is one of the greatest achievements in animation. I watched this movie and every scene is just beautiful, never seen something like this before.
I avidly enjoy anime, and have watched quite a few. I had never heard of this Redline until reading a review of a different anime that caught a comparison to it. How I never discovered it makes me feel as if I had been living under a rock.
never even heard of this before... watched 2mins here then went and bought it
One of the few rare times I prefer the Dub over the Sub version.
Something about JP's line "You're just a voice pal, you don't know a damn thing about racing." can't be replaced.
hands down the best intro to any racing movie ever. this is how you sell the sheer speed and insanity of these races. abso-fucking-lutly love this movie
No importa cuánto tiempo pase, pero no me cansaré nunca de ver está parte tantas veces como sea posible.
Normally I don't like anime that mostly focuses on being cool or badass but Redline is absolutely an exception.
That last frame around 9:52 with the car hood in the sun is such a powerful frame: its first thing about JP to stop moving the whole time he is on screen. Beatifully framed falling action
Born too late to explore the earth, born to soon to explore the galaxy, born just in time to watch this masterpiece.
This is insane wtf
this is some of the craziest animation and sound effects quality ever
I watched this movie 3 times the first day I saw it. It's so colorful, fun, and shallow enough to dance in over and over. I think this is the only bluray I own.
Redline is definitely a pure gem. And will remain forever in my heart.
最近この動画でレッドラインを知ってハマってブルーレイ買ったわ
Redline clips should have a superlike button.
1000km/h uhs the ungu ada 🔥
You wanna talk about under-appreciated, this movie is a prime example of it. Love this movie to death
No one is talking about the great music
How have I never seen this or heard of this, WTF?! This is soooo good. It feels like what watching Speed Racer felt like to my scrambled kid brain all those decades ago. Damn
God bless the algorithm for showing this masterpiece to more people, saw this movie couple years back and i wish i could experience it agian. Go watch the full film, It might still be on youtube, the dub is fantistic too.
Edti: spelling mistakes
looking for it right now!
The amount of energy in this anime is phenomenal, still one of my absolute favorites, not a single other anime feels the way this one does.
Holy shit the legend returns! There was one video with longer intro that brought me to yellow line
I don't even drive at all, but this scene pumps my blood up with masculine energy like I didn't know I had, and makes me want to race. What an amazing anime. I hope it explodes in popularity as it deserves after losing so much money.
A true masterpiece! One of the best anime they ever made!
I know it's cool like that, but I'd love to see them again in a sequel. Who knows if they ever will ???
Have to be a different story. JP and Sonoshee died when the car ripped apart and their spirits crossed the finish line 🥲. Technically they won, which is all they wanted.
@@bosunhawk They did not die. Redline cars have some sort of safety bubble in every car and they were in it, you could clearly see that. Though your interpretation is nice and they definitely hinted at it symbolically while still giving a good fallback for us people who do not like good characters dying.
@@bosunhawk but please! Who believes it ??? They are not dead. First everyone saw them leap and cross the line! This already clarifies everything!
@@uncannysnake Then everyone sees that they have crossed the finish line with a big leap. From what I understand it was JP's powers that protected them. That blue fire is yours to me. It was evident that he had some powers.
@@Paarzival9877 The beauty of anime is its all up to interpretation. Whatever helps you sleep at night, I guess. Its all fantasy anyway.
I never knew about this movie but all it took was recommendation of this video after watching speed racer eurobeat & people in the comments. After watching it, new favorite anime movie
Watching this movie in 4k with home theater system is a goddamn life changing experience
I keep rewatching this race every week
I had never heard of this anime until about a year or two ago, where a friend described it as "F-Zero meets Wacky Racers", which was more than enough to sell me. He didn't mention that the animation is some of the best damn work in anime, and it floored me knowing everything was hand-drawn. Shame that it isn't more well-known.
I refuse to believe this is 8yrs old. Beautiful
The movie is from 2009. So it's actually 13 years old at this point. You can watch the whole thing on UA-cam btw.
The music. The tension. The animation. The cars. It's all perfect.
This video popped into my feed randomly and it was the most hyped shit I've seen so I ended up watching the movie the next day. Man I've never seen a movie quite like it. But I gotta say it's like 90% production value and 10% story I've never seen such a barebones play it straight story but who cares the races are so full of energy that is why I watched it, it was just nuts.
Watching it on my cracked phone enhances the experience
Daily reminder: Scorpion from Mortal Kombat (MK vs DC to MKL: Scorpion's Revenge) is Sweet JP.
It's such a shame this movie flopped it looks like it could be such a classic along wih high sales
I'm surprised to see so many commenters say they've never heard of redline. I've seen many recommendation lists that included this movie over the years. I guess people tend to pick shows over movies when looking for something to watch. Personally I've known about redline for a while, but I only got to watching it recently.
This is the best animation I've ever seen next to akira
I have no idea why this was recommended to me, but it was the greatest thing to have ever happened. I just watched it after this little bit, and this movie fuckin' SLAPS!!
It's a madhouse made anime y'all. Literally no surprise this shit looks amazing. We all saw opm season 1.
@Piyush Sharma studio best is a proper name like studio wit? Never heard of studio best maybe gigguk could email them again like the wit one
This really is one of those few movies that i feel really need to be watched in the watchers native tongue there is just so much going on that you will miss if your chasing the subtitles, such an amazing movie
Movie may have flopped economically, but it became a timeless masterpiece. As Miyazaki admiration for Soviet animation, their unlimited skill to explore possibilities and creating masterpiece after masterpiece with little to no regard to financial restraints.
everytime i rewatched this part. i am still amazed by how freaking sick those frames be.
IMO, this movie is one of the greatest achievements in animation. Not from a storytelling perspective (although the story is good, if a bit of a fever dream), but purely on animation quality and aesthetic. I rank this right alongside Akira in terms of how much I like the animation, the 2 best of all time in my opinion. Studio Ghibli occupies a lot of the slots beneath these 2 lol.
Thank you youtube for recommending me this awesome movie.
WTF?! Why have I never seen this masterpiece before?! I had no idea this movie existed until now!
Literally just watch this after the vid. Thanks for posting this.
i still can't believe this amazing anime is almost drove madhouse into bankruptcy.
Never known of it but this was basically the ad telling me to watch all of it. Dam tha was thrilling and so beautifully drawn
