That's the biggest Jade plant I've ever seen! Nice job!

I received a 37 year old Jade plant from a friend 2 years ago and I gave it a huge purning and it took off like crazy. Love your plant

That’s encouraging to hear, as my Jade got Mealybugs this winter so I’ve taken it outside for the summer. I plan on giving it a huge pruning too.

Jades are my favorite! Did you end up pruning it? How did you deal with the mealybugs? I have 6 Jades and do very little pruning, instead opting to let them grow mostly however they want. I think they take on a majestic look this way. One has a “trunk” like a telephone pole and including the planter it’s 46 inches tall now. The first “branch” doesn’t even start until 13 inches above the soil. Love them!

I sprayed it with Neem Oil and used some cue tips to remove the Mealybug, and then moved it outside for the summer to get it some fresh air. All was going well until some strong winds (with help from a large Philodendron next to it) knocked it off the table it was on. It took the fall better than I expected. I let it be most of the summer after the fall, but did decide to prune it back recently as the shape was more of a “squashed” look. Hoping to do an update video if the Jade responds well from the pruning.

I have an EXTREMELY large jade that I need to repot but I don't want to break off the branches as you stated. It's extremely top heavy and very wonky. I noticed you don't have a water catcher under that pot. What is the reason for that?

I added a saucer under it after the video shoot. I just did not have one available the day of.

@@gardenhike That's one of my biggest complaints about watching TV shows where they'll set somebody up with a bunch of herbs or whatever and there's no water saucers. It's like well, Where do they expect that water's going to go? Lol 😆

why didn't you remove the old compost from around the roots before repotting? It looks like it needs a hard prune.

Perhaps I should have. I’ve just never been one to disturb the roots much when upgrading house plants. I’ve recently moved it outside to get it some brighter summer light, and I plan on giving it a hard prune soon.

Is it there a specific reason why you did not prune it?
    It's so beautiful though♡

Funny, even though I prune shrubs outside all the time, it never even crossed my mind 😊. I guess it seemed to be looking less and less healthy over the last couple of years so I thought fresh soil would help perk it up. I needed a UA-cam topic too 😊.
