That was such a tone death commercial from apple. There are many ways to have the same message without crushing angry bird.
Heck essentially running that ad in reverse having those tools coming out of the ipad does the same thing.
compressing MIGHT have worked, but crushing ? absolutely not, what a weird mistake
*tone deaf
"Run the ad in reverse" = absolutely brilliant suggestion. If Steve Jobs were still around, he'd act on this comment
I seriously don't get the obsession with making phones and tablets thinner. They're already carryable by toddlers. How about upping battery life and durability...
How about returning to Steve Jobs' original vision: Bring Back the fucking FONTS! That was the original vision. I'm an artist, I want the fucking fonts!
@@user-hl4jj3hb4h Correctomundo! Aaayyy!
At least partially it’s about material costs. If one can make the same thing but use half the necessary material to do it, the profit margin goes up. Depending on context it can also be referred to as light-weighting, reducing how much it contributes to weight-sensitive loads. If they can generate hype about reducing the amount of “stuff” involved making it “new,” then that distracts from the “Why don’t you make it correspondingly cheaper?” question.
Partially it’s going to be cashing in on something developed for another purpose. “We figured out how to do this for item W, can we apply that to Y and Z as well?”
Partially bragging rights, thinnest strongest fastest whateverest. I’m sure there are other factors as well.
@@jlighter1 "We're going to cut back on materials and pass the savings onto us! Now be excited, minions of Apple..."
Yep. Seems on brand.
The faster it breaks the sooner you’ll buy a new one. It’s the ‘Merican way.
Somewhere out there, Zod just narrowed his eyes.
With the screaming face, I IMMEDIATELY thought of the '79 Phantom Zone, too... ;-P
The Apple Phantom iZone
call Tim Apple and have him testify for me - ...
Nice one 😅
Don't give Apple any ideas!
🤣🤣🤣😬😬😬💯
People would probably have given it a pass, if it wasn't for:
1. The fact that Apple has already used this approach before, so it feels like old news;
2. Particularly AI. Because it feels much less like stuffing all those things inside a tablet, and more like we're replacing all of those things with crappy AI generated content.
I get the idea of condensing everything, but to show everything get agonisingly crushed makes it feel sadistic.
I personally find it diminishes the feeling of accomplishment in multiple ways, when AI goes hand in hand mass production and commercialism.
Two of the ways is as follows.
When someones creative output is mass produced in one form or another its tough fr some to see how their creative output was unique and this can lead to a potential silencing of future efforts which would improve as the person goes doing the creative journey.
Then when Ai is designed to take all existing creative works and use it as a means of mass producing similar works but with way less effort, the people who just spent hours creating something that could be done in seconds by a machine then have the challenge of staying motivated to create new content as well as the challenge of finding places that would promote their content. This will likely become much harder as AI gains access to more raw input data to further increase the amount of mass produced content it can churn out at any given moment and will result of a severe diminishing of value towards current content creators.
I know people drive much of the content market and it would be easy for people to choose content created by people, but this may also be misleading as even now it's starting to become harder for people to tell the difference between content created by hand and content created with AI tools.
You act like some of us never had a problem with Apple's ads before.
And it feels like a joke an Ai system in the future would create after they saw what happened to the Terminator in the first movie.
That hydraulic press was brutal...😅
What do you expect? it's a company being run by a complete nincompoop: Cook.
Reminds me of that ad from the ‘90s where the bus driver squeezes Pokémon on the bus into a Game Boy
They should call it the “iPhantom Zone”🤣🤣
It's like that old weird add for Pokemon Red and Blue for the Gameboy. You know, the one with the bus driver who smushed a bunch of Pokemon in a compactor to fit them into a Gameboy? But that at least had a "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"-like goofy tone to it. Apple and all other A.I. tech-bro pushers have lost all capacity to be subtle or charming in any way.
Steve Jobs found a broken chip and a metallic hand in an industrial press and started Apple. (Or maybe it was James Dyson with his vacuum cleaner.)
Terminator
I stopped using Apple products a _looooong_ time ago.
Nowadays I wouldn't even know where to stick the paperclip to be able to eject my memory card.
Move over, 'Saw' -- 'Squash' is here.
Thin is somewhat important for a phone, because you carry it in your pocket.
"Thinnest iPad ever" is not that important.
Thinner means lighter too. It’s nicer when holding it one hand.
Uhmmm you carry a tablet in a _bag,_ don’t you?!
@OscarLangleySoryu double check your reading skills, bud
@@LindaC616 thanks for the notification Linda.
I carry my tablet in a bag and it matters to me how much else I can fit in there with it. No clue what you think I missed here but you’re wrong.
Bye Linda.
@@OscarLangleySoryu dude wasn't talking about carrying it in his pocket, gomer
Vinyl has made a huge comeback, and hence record players. I wouldn't trade my vinyl and stereo for a thinner iPad. Whatevs
Good to know that I'm not the only one who found this ad highly disturbing!
I second another genius comment- "Run the ad in reverse." Show all the tools coming out!!
Apple has the wrong marketing staff 🤣
One guy on a different chat posted that it would've been a great ad if they'd just used a mixing bowl to pour all those items into then watch them flow together to create the iPad signifying they were all accessable in that one thing iPad--- instead of smashing everything to bits. He was right. His idea would've been a great ad.
Apple ads have always said to me "We're Apple, we're your god, you will obey". This one is rather on the nose, ain't it?
How can that be so repulsive and so hilarious at the same time?
The Apple marketing team was watching Superman when they were supposed to be working... 🤣🤣
At this time, any iPad iPhone upgrades only matter to professional productivity users, but still not enough to replace a laptop
OMG MADNESS & INSANITY IS THE TREND FOR WESTERN MENTALITY INDEED
They really made a commercial that said “what if we obliterated everything you love”??? ☺️😅
Oh my… 😱
From 1984 to 2024, Apple finally became the villain it once fought against.
What an arc.
Wow, I just watched this on my iPad pro…
Uncomfortable.
I just realised: Apple should have run their advertisement backwards, showing the gear emerging from the tablet. D'Oh!
Should have put a Swiss Army knife logo on the frint
I'll take two! Hahaha
Thank you. That is very close to what I felt as I watched the instruments and tools I love being destroyednin the ad being satirised, and I gather that that response was not universally understood.
This may actually increase understanding...
It's like Ai in the future watched the ending of the original Terminator movie and sent this back as their response.
Someone needs to do a spoof ad where the current Apple product line is similarly crushed and something sensible emerges from the mess.
who else thought of the pokemon in a bus commercial from the 90s?
0:18 I want that crossover
Using Hydraulic Press to squish Angy Bird is little bit wrong...
Final Destination 6 be like:
My friends from the 90's and early 2000's still dress like that, so this was on point
Brilliant! 😂
This just made me think of pressing rosin from a nug.
Bro I think this is a good ad.
Too gory like WTF? 💀
I can't believe they were like "The strikes in the US this summer in art fields were about them worrying about AI taking over the arts! Lets show them an iPad will instead!"
Usually, it’s either Doctor Who or The Simpsons did it first! (This looks like Doctor Who.)
Unless I'm mistaken, an add for Pokemon Red and Blue for the Gameboy did it first. Though that was at least a lot more cartoonishly goofy and self-aware.
Download the whole universe and launch it into the universe with instructions to reverse engineer the universe.
Someone lost his job today
They apologize but not delete the ad on youtube,
I really like this ad because it fits exactly with the goal of big tech: Eliminate everything we have until we totally take over ourselves.
the urge to buy this iPad pro, and smash it.... it's big I'll tell ya.
They are trying to sell Apples sauce
Lol I just came here to see how people reacted to thus
The original is already a rip-off of Nintendo's Pokémon for Game Boy ad.
Steve Jobs really died today
Oh for Christ sake get over it!!!!
I just want my iPad the way it is- same lightning charge and 1/8 “ headphone jack. I don’t need smaller, my iPas mini is plenty small
All I can do is 😂😢
Really willy! Well it seems people is dumber as ever, 'cause they can't appart fiction from reality.
Did Ai come up with the idea for that new iPad ad? The destruction of human instruments of creativity to produce a piece of tech that can replace it all, and the sense most human beings get when watching it, is the uncomfortable truth that we are headed in the direction where the creator (humans) will eventually be on that proverbial press one day soon being just as easily replaced. And perhaps one day, Ai will be creating an ad for the first iPad designed exclusively for sentient androids using a similar type of ad showing humanity being crushed down to create tech for the machines that replaced us.
Yuck!
😳
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Maybe Elon will volunteer
It's not funny
Jobs is spinning in his grave. I’m an Apple person, but they have lost their way.
Jobs absolutely would have signed off on this ad
Makes no sense
Positively breakable. All the eggs, in the thinnest basket. For two grand, what could go wrong?
Thin doesn't mean breakable.
@@CrissaKentavr Probably won't need to spend another 200 for a protective case, either. I'm sure it's made of incredible stuff, but they opened themselves up to it when they had an eyebrow raising ad crushing pianos etc. for their thinnest Oreo, yet. Just because it can probably stop a silver bullet doesn't make us all a bunch of werewolves. It's just funny to me, the Apple Piece of iPaper, all the sturdiness of cardstock without that pesky bulk. Both the razor blade, and the mirror! This just in from the Tree of Knowledge. I dunno, bad riffing, elegant devices to be sure.
Someone cares?
Not an Apple fan, but the "outrage" over this is just plain stupid, sorry. It's not a great ad, but if _that_ gets you outraged, you need professional help.
That was a great ad… it clearly shows many of the things you can do with the new iPad. So sad how some people have to find something negative in everything new………. Kind of reminds me of today’s Christian’s…Jesus must be horrified at all the hate and other things people who use his name are preaching now. So sad……
Strange, when I saw that ad, I thought, "Heh. That's clever." And then didn't think about it again. Apparently I should've been outraged?
Ehh, the ad squicked me. But my spouse shrugged.
Some people are just more attached to physical things. Throw in the impending AI AGI media apocalypse and...
I was outraged. It reminded me of the fact that Steve Jobs is dead,. and his company is being run into the ground by a moron: Tim Cook.
Yes, you didn't wait for your instructions.
Gross
5th
The thinest graveyard yet - its good that you acknowledge the home of your writers!
It’s just a freaking ad. Who cares
i don't get the whole noise over this add, tbh
People would just want to complain about everything else when they run out of things to complain about, such is a first world problem
...Yes, the ability to crush a bunch of usable materials into trash is a first world problem.
You're wrong. Watching how Cook is destroying Apple is like watching a bunch of idiots at the Louvre throw paint at the Mona Lisa. Everything Steve Jobs did was a work of art. Tim Cook is an evil dead man.
people who 'get upset' and whine about commercials need to get over themselves. Stop being a Karen, no one likes Karen. Just stop.
Obviously you don't understand anything about Steve Jobs, or where the original concept for Apple came from.
@@user-hl4jj3hb4h what? Like wtf does any of that have to do with being a Karen, or the fact that NO ONE likes Karen? you're a Karen aint ya?
Imagine someone makes literal garbage out of useful items and then throws into some garbage dump for a shitty ad and when people call it out, the brain dead people call it being a Karen. The brain rot of some people is amazing. I wouldn't wonder if you are one of those weirdos who camp at Apple store days or weeks before a product release, just to be the first to buy a new iPad, because you are mentally weak and can't control your FOMO, being a good consoomer buying overpriced rehashed garbage.
Apple can't even bother doing it with CG and give more work for artists.
