- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- In this video join Joe Pike and chef Barcley in some insanely good spearfishing conditions off the south coast... in winter! We made a fried fish recipe which was delicious!!
I can’t wait to get into this sport/ sustainable fishing method 🤘🏴
Is Chef Barcley stoned or just in a deep Zen-like state?!
Excellent vid as usual, keep on keeping everyone's spirits up during lockdown. And the way you've preped the mullet looks absolutely amazing!
Chef Barcley is high on life!
😂😂😂😂
Had a bad morning just feeling down about the darn lockdown seeing this has changed my mood, I so hope and pray we can be out again in early spring
Keep up the great work and take care
I hope the video raised spirits mate. Freedom on the warming waters this spring will be sweeter than ever 👌
Your 'B' roll is clearly an 'A'. Tremendous piece of film making. Gorgeous drone content. Thanks Joe !
Wow, thanks! 😃
Thank you gents, would not have thought of trying that technique for cooking mullet. A must try when allowed out
Thanks Adam 👍👍
Joe, concerning your next vid....it doesn’t really matter what you guys do. It doesn’t matter to us, as an audience, if you’re repeating shore dives or the pinnacle. It’s just good entertainment, training, and the vicarious fun we have watching you do your friendship together. As for me, don’t stress over something new. This isn’t television. It’s not a competition. I think your channel is taking off because people enjoy you, Barcley, your family..etc. My advice is plan on doing what’s available and what you enjoy, even if it gets repetitive in your mind. It isn’t to us. We are going to watch no matter what you pick for us. Just do “Joe and Company”.
Thanks so much Brent. I had your words on my mind as we filmed an adventure on the weekend. I’m so fortunate to have viewers like yourself who other such valuable and motivating feedback 😊 Take care 👌
Science with Joe is always enlightening 🔪🧜🏻♂️🤿
Thank you Mr Wyness!
Fantastic video love the video
Thanks so much!
Another great video. Lovely clear water. I enjoyed watching the shallower water hunting. It's a great example to people starting off that they don't need to dive deep to get their hands on some fish! 🐟.
Thanks Wes!
I think this is one of your best films. A lot of good info. From catch to cook
Thanks 😊
"Life's a rapp!" You've really made this lunchtime one to savour with another stonking collection of camerawork, action, chat and cuisine. This is a perfect tonic for frustrated winter spearos who still have to work, but cannot go diving when they finish! Another 100% feel-good video... Bon appetite both😋. Many thanks.
Thanks for this epic comment! At least by spring and as the waters warm we should be good to go!
@@JoePkSpearfishingJoe, it is your combinations of topside, aerial, and submarine footage that really inspire visually. I think the more recent chatty bits after some great cook-ups, help others to feel more personally involved with the whole spearfishing scene. It has to be good for the sport, especially if others follow your lead on sustainability and ethical issues of this fabulous technique. Maybe even encourage folks to remove plastics each dive?, every bit helps and you as role models can set a great precedent. Await a Bream video!! (Ps, How much does the smoothskin jacket help? 5or7mm?) Cheers. S
@@sparker9309 Thanks so much again for these words. The smoothskin is more of a priority for boat diving as getting on and off the boat can result in wind chill and the smooth skins negate this. I would recomment the usual open cell for the most part 👌
Topman Joe Pike... 'A Class footage, Camera work, and put together professionally...you shine a awesome light on British coastline and its fisheries and wildlife...love your vids...keep them pumping 👆👍💯🤙 From New Zealand
Wow, thank you John!
That sauce looks delicious great video

Great video again!!! Very nice air & water shots. 👍👍
💯Enjoying your videos, awesome job! Glad i came across you're chanel!
Thanks and welcome
The coast was insanely beautiful !
I agree totally! 😃
Great footage chaps and sublime conditions. Along with mullet flounder are great eating fish which I would never of thought until a couple of years ago. Thanks again for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you again Pete 🙂
Great recipe, We have Kahawai in NZ,,,very similar hunting - great fun. They are the favorite food of King fish, so can be a nice bonus
Mr Pike who is sophistication personified, doesn’t know how to use chopsticks? I’m shocked I tell ya. Another awesome, inspirational vid. Cheers.
Haha not so sophisticated 😂 Cheers Clarky 👌
Top job guys i can't wait for summer ...bring on the shore dives !
This summer will be epic!!
Always amazed by your videos with stunning scenery.. keep up the good work...
Thank you very much!
Fantastic video once again joe....🐠👍

Looked like a great bit of fun in shallow water. Also you have come up trumps with the cooking of the mullet. Thanks Joe and Barclay for some sunshine 🌞in lockdown.👍
Many thanks Nigel we had such an amazing day very happy to be able to share it 😃
That looks cracking fun, and more in line with my skill level...
It certainly was! Good luck with your shallow water adventures Tom 💪
Looking forward to watching it later. No doubt another good video!
Hope you enjoy it!
Amazing video! Aren't we so lucky to have this visibility during the winter. It looks like something from the Med👍
Yes it was! Have to make hay while the sun shines at this time of year!! Cheers mate keep up the great videos your channel is growing so well!!
Stunning place. Incredibel drone filming..Thanks for sharing❤
Thanks Fred 😊
@@JoePkSpearfishing Do you often Dive in Cornwall?
Loving Barcleys Zen master look basking in the sun! Great to find the Mullet and an interesting cook up.
Thank you Matthew... Barcleys face really sums up the day! Beatuiful!! ahah 😅
Another great video, wish we up north in norway had 9 degrees wather this time a year. Its about 4-5 here now,but the visibility is great this time a year 😊
Oh wow! that's chilly ⛄
Amazing clarity. Looks well tasty 🤤👏👏👏
Thank you 😋
Superb content, start to finish. Beautiful stuff guys, amazing 🙌🔥🤤💪
Thank you 🙌 The South Hams are calling you this summer mate 🍻
Cracking video Joe, condition are perfect and great for diving! You have to make the most of days like that when you can!
You got that right!
Hey Joe, thanks for dropping vids like that. i appreciate it alot.
Paused the video to type this comment down: I absolutely love your scenery drone shots. You defenetly got an eye for beauty. Wonderful, how you take others to see what you see. Thanks for capturing and sharing via youtube.
Now i'll watch on.
Greets from Bern, Switzerland
Thanks so much 🙂
After watching this beautiful video I made up my mind,I'm not complaining about the 19 degrees Celsius in mid January!and I'm going to try this recipe for sure.Thanx guys.
Haha! Our waters rarely get that warm in summer!!
Absolutely beautiful scenery!
Really enjoying the uploads Joe
;-)
Many thanks Karl! More to come 👌
@@JoePkSpearfishing The drone footage was brilliant!
Great video as always! 👌🏻
Thanks again!
Awesome drone shots - nice one Joe!
More to come! Cheers Jonny 👍💪
Keep up those pleasent videos, once again, spearfishing in the UK is a diferent reality, good content Joe!!
Thanks, will do Mário!
You are such a cool guy!!
Cheers mate from Switzerland.
Thanks, you too!!
0:27 Dream combo!
True, well maybe the 37 year old landy isn't everyone's cup of tea!! 😅
Great trip guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!
i missed fresh fish😋😋😋
Don't dive alone you have a family
Awesome drone shots and great to see such healthy fish populations. An equivalent to your mullet in south florida, about seeing it as often and being fun, i'd say would be the yellow jacks! Glad to see you're still having fun shooting the fish after so long, it's the little thing. That recipe looks awesome! I'll have to try that one day.
Thanks so much mate! Hope to spear a yellow jack one day 😃
Not hungry again Joe.... Really not.. Life seems good with all that fresh, caught fish... I can only dream.
Thanks.
Simon
Thanks Simon! Seems like a distant memory with the weather outside now...
Great vid. 👍
Ketchup...? 🤔 😁
Are you wearing 5mm?
Grey mullet roe is also a delicacy in the Mediterranean, most Mediterranean peoples have a recipe for drying it. The Italians call it Bottarga after it has been salted and dried, they they use it like you would do parmesan or a truffle.
8mm! I have to give bottarga a go! Thanks
Oh my god, Joe where are you!? Sardinia? Sicily!? As always thumbs up ️🔥 Can't wait for this lockdown to be over!
Haha indeed when we get the weather the South Coast here is so beautiful!!
Nice vid Joe.
Thanks John!
Water so clear why didn't you guys try going deeper? Great video as always captain!
I guess time really, the days are so short we only had time really to get a couple of spots in 👌 Next time...
Nice one ! Can we have the mullet roe recipe ?
It's funny cause in south of France most fisherman and spearos don't shoot mullet as they're not considering it as a noble fish. Quite different in the uk :)
Yes I'll get it from Barcley! That's interesting. They still have a fairly bad rep in the UK as well... 😌
is this your take on Whitehouse and Mortimer? Nice Vid and great locations !
Haha - never heard of it! Maybe I'll have a look. Thanks!
Good vid joe
Thanks George!
Thanks Joe for the video, huge fan from France! By the way, what's the thickness of your suit? Do you think 7mm is enough or are you using something thicker? Cheers!
👍👍
Awesome video dude! Not so sure about the sweet and sour sauce though, ketchup and vinegar 😅
I had great success hunting the shallows in Cornwall in September, saw a wide variety of fish and shot many of them 😁
Fantastic work with the catches! Yes we weren't sure either, but trust me it's a good thing 😃
@@JoePkSpearfishing thanks a lot! I'll take your word for it on the sauce 😅😁
Japan or France also for the eggs .... in France it's called "Poutargue"
Interesting!
Question: Which precautions do you take to not have a blackout? What is your backup plan if it happens? I am very interested in spearfishing but I have huge respect for the sea.
Good question. The best advice I can think of is to use a dive watch to ensure you rest on the surface for more than twice your dive time in between dives. Also, don’t push your breathold beyond your comfort zone. Anything over 2 mins is just too risky. Finally. Never drink alcohol night before a dive and never dive If you’re really tired.
@@JoePkSpearfishing Excellent answer thanks. Maybe you could adress this sometime in a video.
@@dpie4859 Good idea thanks
For how long should the fish be in the oil, and how hot is it? Great vid btw. I really enjoy these
It was about 5 minutes at about 130C. Thanks Johannes 😃
@@JoePkSpearfishing Nice, thanx :)
Love the whole video, but really enjoyed the drone footage and being able to see the areas where cliffs have eroded in to the sea. The fantastic visibility makes it possible to see the whole geographical process. I often find if you approach these areas from deeper water you can sandwich mainly Mullet, but sometimes Bass up against the shore line.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you Thomas 🙂
What thickness suit were y'all wearing?
8mm
When will you go spearfishing in Norway?
I would love to this summer!!
🥶🥶👍👍💪💪
What speargun are you using?
Hi Ollie. It’s the cressi Cherokee fast.

Naaah man you just ruined that fish cookin it that way
