sorry buddy but you did a mistake here, you sad that when bonus share are given to share holders in 1:1 then the prize of the per share decreased by almost half and the overall value of portfolio remains same but that is not the case buddy,this is true that when we get bonus share in 1:1 the number of share we have became double the original number as we get same amount of share as bonus but the value of share is slightly decrease due to dilution of new shares in the pool of publicly traded shares but it never deep to half,so in case of bonas share we actually gain some amount also the numbers of share became double and its value became half only happened in share split when face value of share became half.

But.. When you sell you have to pay huge tax on bonus shares. Suppose you have 100 shares and you get another 100 bonus. Now if even you sell for zero profit you will have to pay tax for bonus shares 100*price..which is treated as your profit thought you did not make any profit.. So it is not invester friendly..

I m still confused a lot becoz recently I bought 4000 shares of BRIGHTCOM GROUP @100 and sold @102 with profit of 8000 . Company announced bonus of 2:3 and got 2666 shares free of cost as I having initial shares on record date... finally I sold 2666 shares at profit of 188000.
Why I got this ...that why I m confused
