- Classic Legends have finally brought the BSA Gold Star 650 to India making it the biggest single cylinder motorcycle to be manufactured in India to take on the successful Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. Despite being a single, it makes almost the same power and slightly more torque than the Interceptor and is priced almost the same at Rs. 3L. But does it have the refinement and provide as rich a riding experience like the RE twin? Sarge hops on to find out.

When RE was giving halogen headlight for every model, everyone was crying for LEDs. Now!!! I always loved halogen BTW. It gives the best visibility at night during wet roads and fog.
Got my bike delivered yesterday. It puts smile on my face even in Bengaluru traffic. Just basic bike no bullshit features . Designed for awesome ride and that’s what it does

my experience was worse, booked one online when launched, received an email without booking information. First visit to the dealer, got a cold response. Second one, they had no information about my booking. Called CL customer care and asked to cancel my booking. Got refund with 4-5 days.
I was excited to ride a big single after a decade but my 2 twins at home must have decided against it, I guess. I’ll just enjoy what I have. Cheers

Been an Ex INT 650 owner forced to sell the INT650 due reliability issues if BSA engine and overall product proves its reliabilty factor . Then it will give a tuff fight to RE. Engine configuration doesnt matter more. Important factor is reliabilty and quality of product . RE in that aspect is very poor....

amazing Video sarge! We need more of these bikes for the road commute, fast enough for occasional touring, but a relaxed roadster with a torquey motor that's simple bare bones with no gimmicks!

Surprisingly I took a test ride yesterday the black one and it was looking sooo fricking good ❤ and the character it has the calmness it's just better than the interceptor 🔥(only down side is this is a single and interceptor is a twin rest all as Sagar better)

BSA was the first European & also exotic bike introduced to me thanks to my uncle who had a poster of BSA exotic model from 80s. I always thought it was a gimmick since the name is same as bicycle company.

As for the bike, I never imagined the first bike from BSA to turn out this refined and actually pose a threat to RE, majority of the customers with this kind of budget are going to opt for INT 650, but I hope BSA is able to sell enough of these and continue to bring rest of their bikes in the country

There is never a dull moment in your reviews. Eyes are glued to the screen and the ears to the speaker. Always been a fan of yours since the Power Drift days and the very first video I saw on Duke 390. Keep up the amazing work! On the bike, simply awesome! I test rode it and I felt at home. Single or twin does not matter but to live with one matters. This does as a good companion for city and weekend trip to the hills. I was waiting for your review to book the same. Yup, I agree with you. This bike looks stunning. But, when it comes to the engine, I'm also biased towards the parallel twin. No doubt, BSA goldstar also has a superb engine & sound is also nice & bassy, but pales in comparison to RE 650 engine.
And also, I think it's good time for RE to update their interceptor & GT because this bike is a legit competitor to RE 650s

When I sat on it I realized it is built better than interceptor and it's also bigger than it. I would have disrupted the RE650 market if it had a smooth twin cylinder engine. That single cylinder doesn't sound good and vibrations are of those type which I don't like. In Harleys there's a specific kind of vibration and riding feel that feels good but in this one, I didn't like the engine vibrations. It seems like BSA missed an opportunity to disrupt the 650cc RE market.
Time will tell
You wanna buy a perfect bike then go and get A triumph scrambler 400x. No competition. Torque, power, suspension, Toughness, premium, reliability, road presence, beauty.... everything is top notch

I really hope we get a motorcycle (that at least looks) exactly like the old Brough Superiors but have refinement, neat & cleanliness and ride quality of a modern retro bike.. I know modern Broughs exist but they looks hideous to me compared to the old ones... Just imagine cruising on a new SS100 through Ladakh or the Western Ghats..😍😍

I love this bsa goldstar 650 over Re int 650
It looks so neet and clean
And the weight management is good over int 650
So it will be easy to manoeuvre through the city traffic

Hi Sagar, I bought this bike on 25th Aug'24. I am the first one to buy it in Maharashtra. I have rode 500km so far. While your review is very good, I have different experience on following points,
1. The clutch: I do not find it heavy, its light. Don't know if you got abused bike for the review. The bike, I had test ridden and the bike I bought both have light clutch action.
2. The vibrations: I didn't experience vibrations on test ride bike as well as my bike. My bike is not right reference as I ak keeping revs below 3.5 k for first 1000km as per owner's manual. But I have done two test rides on showroom bike and I could only feel some buzz after 6-6.5k RPM and definitely not at 4.5k RPM as you mentioned. Again, this makes me guess that you had abused bike for the review.
3. Suspension and ride: I found Suspension plush all the time except for the rumbling strips. The handling too I felt very predictable but I haven't push the bike to the limits and my riding skills aren't close to you. So your observation in this area might be correct.
I echo your views 100% on other aspects. I didn't had budget for new Triumph and wanted something special n exclusive than RE. This bike is the perfect solution.

Those are all some big statements coming from the most trusted awesome sarge. You have kindled my curiosity to take a TD with that "the most smoothest big single that i have driven so far" statement. Also the well put fit and finish. Somewhere i read that the side panels have uneven gaps. Was that something you observed sarge?
I am honestly not as picky when it comes to panel gaps. But the motorcycle overall definitely exudes better quality compared to the interceptor
