- In the 1970's and 80's Gloucester MA was a city in turmoil. The historic fishing port became a hub for Narcotics and the city changed dramatically. During this period many legendary names were created on the Gloucester streets. Out of the bank robbers, dealers, and tough guys one name stood out from the rest and that was George "Skippy" Cream. #history #gangster #mafia #crime #mystery #projects #hood #gloucester #ocean #gloucestergangster #massachusetts #fishing
It kills me what happened to Skippy. My mother is Cheryl and Skippy was my older sister and brothers father. Thanks for the video Jay. I’m so happy for you my FRIEND
Thanks Chris appreciate you sending me the articles. The only reason the video was able to happen 💯💯
The Christmas toy story is great💪🏼
Thank you for telling that story it was captivating
Hey Christopher, I miss Skippy too, And Pudge, And Cheryl. This is Pratty from Gloucester. Just saw this Post and thought I'd say Hello. ☮️
@ which Pratty… Mike
You're doing a great service presenting and preserving history, much appreciated.
Thank you so much for saying that 🔥🙏💯

In terms of UA-cam as a whole - I honestly think that this Channel is a UA-cam masterpiece. No joke. I have been enjoying all of your videos in order and I am so hooked and entirely flabbergasted by your considerable talents, masterful research and editing and truly authentic voice. KEEP. GRINDING. I cannot wait for more!
Bro thank you truly.. I work so hard at this I truly appreciate this💯🙏
It is 10,000% kid puts in WORK.
As a kid from Roxbury, I know a lot of street stories from the city. But I love hearing these stories about infamous ppl from just outside of the city. Great content!
Thanks my man I really appreciate that . Thanks for watching and commenting
Yo, I'm an overnight gig driver in and around the Bean. I'm always looking for new shit to listen to keep my mind busy while I work. Looking forward to your future output, my dude ✌️
Awesome brother I’m glad to hear that 💯🔥
Interesting video as always Jason. I started driving for the old West End Taxi in 1975 and we did a huge business in Riverdale and Maplewood park and i never remember feeling unsafe picking up fares day or night. There were a lot of good people who just couldn't afford a car and taxis were pretty inexpensive way of going to and from work or to Cape Ann Market (Ghetto Shaws now) and always the ones who could afford it least tipped the best. Skippy himself took cabs many times and he was always cool and what happened that fatal day by Sadler street i wasn't there but word on the street he was unarmed and shot in the back as you mentioned and many lives changed forever. Different day and age for sure. Great video J.T. Stay healthy and keep this great content coming1
Hey Tim!!! It’s actually kinda funny I texted you last week to see if you could add anything to the story .. I figured working for the cab you saw and heard a lot of things back in day. Not sure if you changed your number or maybe I texted your land line 🤷🏻 either way I appreciate the comment I figured you would key in on this one I’m glad you enjoyed it.. have a great week my brother 💯🙏🙏🙏
@@jasontrimmins8264 you should have my cell but no worries! Go Celtics !!
It seems like most people are intrigued by true crime history in places like NYC, Chicago, and LA but Massachusetts is rich with crime history, even more interesting than the aforementioned places. You podcasts are right up there with TJ English's "Where The Bodies are Buried" and films like "The Town", "Gone Baby Gone", and The Departed to name a few which delve into not just the crimiles but the culture of that part of New England. Great job. Keep up the good work.
Thanks brother I really appreciate the compliment 🙏I agree about Mass comparatively to Ny Chicago etc💯
What a great video, you do such a great job researching, and putting together such a professional quality history of how it was Back in the day. You do REAL people history right! Thank you. It’s a pleasure to view your channel. Love your positive message and the ends of them all❤
Jeeze thanks man that’s a really nice comment !!💯💯 much appreciated thank you kindly makes me happy to read this 🙏🙏
Thanks Jason-
These stories are important - it seems that some people bury them on purpose. This is great work you are doing ❤
Thank you so much greatly appreciated my friend 💯🙏 I agree completely
I’m from Rhode Island but have always lived in the south coast. As many have already stated, I love the old lore of Massachusetts. Currently live in NB, would love to hear some things unknown to most about the fishing port back in the day.
Keep it up!
Secret city💯💯
Great video as always my guy, sorry I was late on this one.
Better late than never bro💯💯 appreciate it like always 🙏🙏
Another good video thanks for all you do. I love the history videos you do. I’m 51 from Cambridge and have been learning a lot about Massachusetts outside of my Cambridge/Boston bubble from you.

Thank you so much 🙏🙏
Keep up the good work I appreciate the stories you tell about Massachusetts legends but you need to make a segment on Cape Verdean gangsters. I definitely got stories to tell.
I’ve done some stuff about CV gangs a long time ago but it wasn’t that great. I’d love to talk to you !! Look me up on social media if you’re interested in talking to me
I'm 50yrs old and i know what you mean about kids back then fighting just to see who was tougher! Born and raised in New Bedford, Ma there was a few legends here as well. Love these kinds of stories about Massachusetts! Times were a lot different back in the 70's and 80's and i wouldn't want to be a kid in any other era! Things were just awesome back then!
@@scottb252 I fished out of New Beige for years, back in the 80s and 90s When the shit was Deep.
Things were awesome !! I feel bad for my kids they didn’t grow up in the 80’s it was so much better to be a kid. Most importantly no social media or internet
You are right on track keep it up much much truth in all you report !! Great work man !!👍👍👍
Thanks so much I appreciate it 💯💯
Thanks for this video about a fascinating story Jason as I've never heard of Skippy until now. Please keep up the good work. Have you considered doing a video about the Gardner art heist in Boston?
Thanks David !!! Early on I wanted to do that topic but I kind of forgot about it.. it would be a good video 💯

Those Gloucester - Lynn Classical football games were LEGENDARY when I was at Classical back then
Did you play with my cousin Johnny Meklis?? He always told Gloucester was the worst place to play especially basketball he said Gloucester was so racist
@@jasontrimmins8264 I was just a Classical alum, I played soccer. You guys would ALWAYS break our hearts and pull out the win. Unis was on those teams he went to BC after .
I played against the Gloucester high football team, just saying.
i remember leaving,an the bus windows being shattered ,an no cheerleaders were allowed to go to the games..this happened decades ago..
I'm from Fall River Mass. I use to run in the 80' s. Yes. Fall River, New Bedford, Brockton, were supposed to be the most highly rated for H.I.V. I, Thank god for watching over me, And avoiding the virus myself.👈🏽🙏🏾.
You definitely must have had an angle watching over you 🙏💯
Me to and I'm in Bristol. Got everything but HIV
Other than enjoying the North Shore Beaches eons ago, I was unaware of this angle of Gloucester.

Most people are unaware thank you for watching 💯💯
I live in southern Maine but my father worked for the railroad in bellricker in the late 70s 80s early 90s, he always had these stories from down there brings back memories....thanks JT
That’s what I’m here for brother 💯💯
This needs to be a podcast 👏
Let’s do it I’m down sign me up
I work at Reverie 73 in Gloucester now and was at AGH for years after high school. Also dated a girl from Gloucester in high school. So seeing stories like this about a town I’m in daily on top of it being kinda my second hometown is really cool. I wish Beverly had interesting history like this.
Beverly does too!! I’ll dig up something good from the old days of Beverly had a seedy underbelly in the 70’s too. Even in the 90’s Beckford and Bennington st were mad sketchy
Keep documenting local history!
Always !!! 🔥🔥💯
I think you're awesome and so is your channel
Thank you very much so kind 💯🙏
Ah The Crows Nest. Visited there because of the Perfect Storm movie. Ordered a Coke and a lobster roll. Some kid tried lifting my change of the bar right infront of me. I let him know, and he pulled out an envelope and told me he had lots of money and didn't need my change. He went to playing pool with his friends. Bartender it gets like that when they come back from fishing trips.😂 Got a t- shirt and left.
Sounds about right !!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You never mentioned all the pot smugglers.
Great video,keep it coming

@ thanks brother I appreciate it. For what it’s worth you are definitely one of the most solid dudes from Gloucester not that many but you’re definitely one of them.
Cool story telling! And this is how it was I'm fron Mass.
Thanks brother I appreciate that 🔥💯
Something attracts me to these local historical stories. I grew up locally as well and been fishing out of the port of New Bedford for over 20 years. I've been wanting to visit the port of Gloucester, especially after seeing that movie the Perfect Storm. lol Much of what you say happened to Gloucester has also happened to New Bedford with the substance abuse and all the old fisherman bars and hang outs, replaced with Ritchie restaurants. It's cool to hear these stories of local crime bosses from the good ole days. The only ones you seem to hear about are the ones that they make movies about like "Black Mass" or "The Town". Great videos. Keep em coming J!
Thanks my man really appreciate the comment !!! Glad you’re enjoying the channel 🙏💯

As a 46 year old from Billerica, the whole of eastern mass is much nicer than when I grew up but, it’s also impossible to afford now. Clean safe city is great but it also runs the people who held that city together out.
Double edged sword
Great Story another GEM
Hey Stan thanks brother 🙏
A Massachusetts general history video would be dope
Yeah that would be a 10 hour video 🤣🤣
Cheryl is my mother and skip is the farther to my older siblings. Thankyou for sharing this story..

He must have been a great boxer with unrealized potential for Marvin Hagler to have been honored to be the Pall bearer at his funeral. Thanks for the very interesting story.
Thats whats missing in this country and why its the way it is because we dont emphasize toughness anymore. Instead we give everyone participation trophies and make sure we hurt no ones feelings. Anyway thats a whole other story. Once again love the history along with the content. Hope u keep on keeping on brother
I agree!!! Me and my friends didn’t cry when our coach screamed at us or grabbed us by the shirt we got pissed off 😤 and went out and played harder the next half!!💯💯 #toughenup
@jasontrimmins8264 that's right, it gave u motivation
Yea the sgt knew enough to have a throw down on him. Just one of many times a gun just pops up outta nowhere. “Oh, look what I found”…..Yea right!
🧐🧐🤣
(Allegedly)first word i say when telling a story.👍.good story keep the legends alive
My man 💯🔥
I am from Beverly, Swampscott and now Marblehead. Gloucester was rough, the Lynn of Cape Ann! Until the mid 200s it was rough! Totally gentrified!
Projects in Swampscott and Marblehead too and Marblehead as rich as it is it’s disgusting so bad I have made videos and tried to expose it all! Gloucester is run by the same degenerate from DHCD as Beverly, Salem, Swampscott it’s so sad bc they couldn’t care less meanwhile they take all the tax dollars!
You’re absolutely right!! Thanks you for the comment my man 🔥🔥💯
Or woman 🤷🏻
Still makin em good J, it's your boi from Arkansas 👊💯

Gloucester is like the Fall River/New Bedford of the North Shore, since you made this they can have a movie like ‘Paid in Full’ now 😂
Perfect description!!💯 when I was a kid that exactly what Gloucester was like a smaller version of Fall River
I wouldn't go that far new Bedford is really bad
