Isser, that particular Huey is an H model, not a D. All D's were upgraded to H model standard years ago. Also, the C model came before the D's and were primarily used as gunships to support the B model troop carriers early in the war. This was before the development of the AH-1 Cobra, which was developed as a pure gunship.
Got it....better safe then sorry..Hands up to the professionalism of these guys. They are not there by chance...Would never have thought of it. Thanks for replying
The funny thing was this. They asked us to remove our flips flops before walking to the choper. So of course we did. Who would argue with a retired sergeant? The problem was the field we had to walk through to get there was full of sand spurs. If you are not familiar with these little pains. They are small seeds covered in thorns that like to lodge themselves in your skin. Each step became more painful than the previous. Because we were surrounded by retired military personnel who have obviously endured far worse than walking barefoot through a field full of sand spurs, neither one of us said a single word. We just walked through and picked the sand spurs out later.
I know what they are like...like little ball full of spikes around it....Gosh.....every effort is Worth it not to miss that flight. Who knows when u will have a chance like that again.......All happiness from Brazil....
As a a former US Army UH1B pilot....these folks probably never flew open cabin...too bad the gal on the pilot side wasn't a lot younger with that blowing skirt...lol
Just curious, on the inside of the helicopter it says Experimental, does that mean that this Helicopter has mostly just been used for this, giving people rides??????
+Andrew Silva It's just a "type rating" category through the FAA. Usually just has to do with money and what it's worth to a company to have an aircraft "recognized" by the FAA. Experimental not in the literal sense of the word.
Usually I call anyone who adds music to a video like this an asshole, but in this case, thoroughly warranted.
That looks like alot of fun! I've always wanted a helicopter.
You dont want a helicopter...you want a HUEY!!!! 😄
Two great MD spots within walking distance of that airport. I found a small cannon ball at one of them back in the 1980s.
the old folks home had a field trip

The boy was so eager to take that ride that he even forgot his sneackers..lol
We were both wearing flip flops. They made use take them off because the power of the rotors would have ripped them from our feet.

The UH-1C came before the the D, it was a smaller airframe like the UH-1B. The UH-1D and H were the bigger birds
I so love this....especially the music...wow!!!!!
cool view of the inlet
I used to live near New Smyrna in Daytona I never saw this! Dam what did I miss?!

How many degrees can you bank a Huey in a turn?
This is the Huey -1D. The Huey- 1C came later which had a wider cabin.
