  • We break in the NOMAD Grill with a simple cook. Compare cleanup and try to extinguish charcoal. Some surprising results as the NOMAD burned all charcoal over the next few hours despite having vents closed.

    I Hope people with a Brain realize that The Webber is King. The Briefcase is Ridiculously Expensive for what you get and the Webber cooks and cleans easier by 75%.

      A nomad would be awesome to have but for that price I could have 2 (used to be 3) master touch webers or 6 jumbo joe grills

      Aluminum conducts heat better than steel and it won’t rust ever. Any aluminum grill will last way longer than one made of steel

    Thanks for the detailed review! Enjoyed the video and edit. Pro Tip: when you want to extinguish the coals, set the grill on its BASE side (rather than standing it up straight on its four feet). That way you're working with the weight of the hood side to seal the unit tighter to choke the coal and assist in a much quicker cooling down process. Thanks again, fellas!

      Nomad - had the same issue a few times. Lesson learned by trial and error. Great tip. Might be helpful for put together a “Nomad starter guide”.

    Great comparison. We have had our nomad for about 2 years and really like it. It takes up a lot less space in the trunk of a car than a Weber or an Old Smokie (when the coals are out of course). As far as keeping it clean on the outside we just hit it with a water hose every once and a while. Really great job guys.

      Thanks for the tip! I am planning one more smoke/sear session with this grill and then I will clean it up.

    Why dont you talk about the price difference right off the back? 10 times+ difference!

      Thanks. It is one of those 'IYKYK' kind of things. People that are looking at the Nomad already know the price and the purchase of the Nomad isn't driven by the price.

    Thanks. Really thorough unbiased test.
    FYI, flip the Nomad grate over to retain “rollers”.
    I have both and have similar experience with the exception of my Nomad cooled pretty quick and saved about the same amount of charcoal to reuse (Thaan and Nomad charcoal).
    Have not tried the B&B Competition Char Logs yet (have a bag though).

    • @Exit0Wound
      @Exit0Wound  Рік тому

      NAMAD folks let me know about setting it on its side to save the remaining charcoal. I did that the next go around and it worked. The B&B char logs take a longer time to get ready and heat is lower, but they burn longer. Great for smoking sessions. Thanks for the feedback!

    I’ve had a bunch of Weber’s and I love them, but they don’t last for many years, with heavy use, in my experience. Having said that, the Nomad, is extremely expensive, and you can replace a lot of Weber’s, for the price of one Nomad

    • @Exit0Wound
      @Exit0Wound  2 місяці тому

      Aside from replacing the ash sweep and grill grates every couple years, I have Webers that have been running for decades. I cart them around Texas to cook for family on holidays and competitions. Pretty heavy use. What is not lasting for you?

  • @gusbarnesiii8210

    Nomad has a lifetime warranty and is made out of aluminum. Aluminum bodies make all the difference. This makes the grill more fuel efficient and it won’t rust on you. The price on the Weber is nice, but in the long run the nomand is the winner

      Heavy. Leaks ash. Not enough air flow in first gen. It does pack easily and looks cool.

    Seems to be a solidly built BBQ but does the compact form factor justify the extra $$$. For some, yeah. I can see how its worth it.

    Man! I thought the PKGO was $$$ for $300 was too expensive but when I saw the price of this, around $700 I had a Heart-a-tak-tak-tak !! Still have my Weber Jumbo Joe but is a bad travel design and the Weber Q gas and it is awkward design to travel with. Now the PKGO seems like a steal! Nomad touted the best in the world. I don't know but it is certainly the most expensive!!

    • @Exit0Wound
      @Exit0Wound  8 місяців тому

      It is pricey! It looks cool. Using both sides to grill and the new griddle plate, to me, are the only advantages.

    The only advantage the Nomad has over the Weber is portability but it’s not worth the extra money. I’d rather get the Weber and use the money I saved on extra charcoal and premium steaks.

    i have these 2 exact grill, the nomad SUCKS, i cannot get heat out of the nomad, using the same fuels, i use real charcoal, i can reuse the charcoal several times, i tried several charcoal brands, and brickettes, the nomad seems to just not work, having tourble cooking hot dogs, i have watched several videos on how to use the nomad

    • @Exit0Wound
      @Exit0Wound  4 місяці тому

      It is a struggle. Immediately I made that thread all lid holder. That allowed me to get some heat going on semi closed cooks. I think they added more vents in the new version.

    The price point is ridiculous. I’ll stay with my Jo. I could understand the price if you do alottt of traveling. The Jo does not travel well. It does travel well to the park and back and relatives and back

      The heat on the outer shell and the lack of ability to seal in the charcoal when transporting were serious bummers for me.

    Super slow super boring but overall I'm pretty damn good comparison. I saw this girl come up in my feed and I'm a grow fanatic so I looked this up. I was all over it until you picked it up by the handle and said all the coals slide down as opposed to staying upright. Lost me with that looks cool but that's ridiculous.
