I'm sure that guinea thought that if it got off the ground and into the air it would be safe. But it was wrong. There is something that can follow you into the air and still catch you, like this incredible cat.Maybe if it did not wait until the cat was upon it and took off much earlier it would have lived. But like most ground birds they prefer to run on the ground and put off using their wings until the last minute and by then it is usually too late. That is a stupid trait.
1:26 my old domestic cat did that regularly to small birds , also killed rabits and racoons. Would come home sometimes with bodies around the lawn , he would never eat them just kill them.
It’s still considered a lynx by common name because it shares so many lynx features. Sometimes common names aren’t relevant to actual genetic makeup. Like how a bull frog obviously isn’t actually a type of bull. Sometimes a name is just a name. Or how “birdeater” tarantula can refer to like 20 different unrelated species of tarantula, most of which don’t make a habbit of eating birds

The Caracal is not a Lynx. It is a monophyletic genus closely related to the Serval and the African golden cat.
Yeah I was wondering about that I didn't think I was a Lynx
It is, however, only known since a very short time. In the past they were grouped with "Felis" or "Lynx".

Beautiful.
It's not a species of lynx though. It's called the desert lynx but it's related to the serval and african golden cat.
