Now that is what i called a close encounter. No speech, no threats. Only two species living the greatest existencial moment from their own perspective.
He also shows up in a backstage scene. when Augie's walked off the stage to go talk to Schubert Green. He's sitting at a table, and he does have a line.
I see this film as proof that Wes Anderson actually likes modern franchise blockbusters on a conceptual level and is paying tribute to them. The greatest minds behind franchise films like Lucas, Spielberg and Cameron, and the basis of the material of modern franchise films (Marvel) are products of the age of nuclear anxiety (think of all the radiation based origin stories) and the vibrant sci-fi and theatre scene of that era.
Am i the only one that finds this vaguely scary reminds me of that nightmare pingu episode with the gaint wallrus a wes Anderson horror movie would be kinda sick

It's amazing how people have different reactions to the alien appearing, it's as equally as whimsical, dreamy, profound and tense which tbh is Wes Anderson's style summed up pretty well.
The lower reviews of this film were from casuals who never saw a Wes Anderson film. They saw Scarlette Johansson's name and saw the suggestive nude scene from the trailer, but were too dense to understand is style or the film. I laughed so many times and thoroughly enjoyed the film.
@@OkItsJustSean nope. You found one of the few people that actually doesn’t have a corrupt mind and think lower of others. I just use common sense and use the facts around me that are evident. Sorry to burst your bubble 🤷♂️

I love how weird it must have seemed to the alien. Like, what did he tell his friends? "Yeah, so, the last item i had on the scavenger hunt was that astroid but when i got there these weird aliens were sitting around it with boxes on their heads like they were worshipping the damn thing. Oh, and get this. They built a cage around it. Like they're afraid its gonna escape or something. Earth is weird yo."
The scene was odd. The alien appears animated like he is in a cartoon. The space between the audience and the stage changed from small to large and back to small. The cage holding the meteorite has no bottom. Also, the photo is taken in natural light, and later in the movie the photo is shown to have have been taken with a strong flash.
lmao bro. Tell me you haven't ever watched a Wes Anderson film without saying you've never watched a Wes Anderson film. It's literally a movie about a play. Everything you're seeing is a performance. It's supposed to be cartoonish with plenty of falls. Which is why Augie burning his hand was the only real thing about the play.
@@bradleyrex2968 He almost never uses CGI. I can't think of any. That scene closely resembles Isle of the Dogs. That's as close as you're getting. His films are typically very simple and uses basic set designs with simple backdrops. If you watch his other films you'll notice.
The alien and his removal of the meteor represent death. The use of CGI and a set that changes from different angles may have been an attempt to show how abnormal and disorienting death is.
The alien is the unknown. There is no explanation for why he comes, or why he returns. It's all about how people deal with things that can't be explained.
@@jordanloux3883 there are so many depictions of “unknown being from outer space comes to Earth”, typically black, demonic, or somehow evil looking, in SO much media. IT, E.T., Dragon Ball Z, Stranger Things….. It is programming us to accept “the unknown, and things we can’t understand”…..
This was a disappointing movie for me. I guess this was my fault, because I was expecting something a little broader than Budapest, while Wes Anderson is clearly not interested in doing anything but repeating himself.
How can you not look at that scene and see he has become a total cliché. Rehashing the same old dialogue tropes and styles. It's so boring to see a director limit himself to his own self imposed banality. It was quirky and artsy the first few times he did it, now he's just spewing out any old overly produced, synthetic euro cinema, crap. The score in this scene is phenomenal, it’s that perfect Wes Anderson blend of whimsical, rhythmic, a bit epic, and a bit melancholy
I love how cartoonish this scene looks. It looks like the alien is a fragment of our imagination, perfectly symmetrical and just out of our dreams 💫
Agree, or i just watched too much wes anderson under Tylenol influence.
Jeff Goldblum was credited for the alien role even with no lines
