"Although things ended the way they did, I'd still like to thank Jacob for the opportunity (fuck knows why), because I really feel that his intentions were good" - It's hilarious xD
I love how fitting imapet's name is in this dispute. After Thorin's impression I just imagine him sitting on a fucking dog bed just watching them argue lmao
Love watching you hone your craft. The videos just get better and better. When you broke off and made the short comments on the title of the video and joking about Stanis being a snake it made me smile
The ending of this video big man Thorin says 'as an in-game leader you might be fire at that, maybe with the right team, right players, the right environment and the right period of time it all goes great' and that basically tells the story of the beginning of NRG/EG from 2019-20
Slightly off topic, but is anyone else seeing similarities between the new Optic lineup and Fnatic? Perhaps it won't be reflected in the style of the teams, as it remains to be seen how Optic will play, but player for player there's a comparison to be drawn. You've got stars in Konfig and Krimz who are hitting insane levels this year and playing a tier above most of their teammates. Golden and Snappi are relatively unproven IGLs breaking into the top level for the first time. Gade and Lekro are young talents with good aim getting their first chances in a big team. Cajunb and Flusha are veterans providing a reliable backbone. Finally, JW and Jugi are AWPers that aren't the major focal points of their respective teams, but can be the difference makers when they have strong performances. Fnatic is clearly further along in their evolution, but I can see a world in which Optic sees similar success to their Swedish counterparts.
Jonathan Harris there’s some similarities but there’s a few major differences... golden like snappi unproven but he came from their academy team so it helps a bit. The one major difference is the veteran players have played together for 4-5 years which does help a lot. Also i f you do remember Flusha, lekro and JW were once teammates at Godsent so there’s a bit of background between them. lastly Lekr0 performed well when Godsent went into the semis of Dreamhack Malmö sure unproven but somehow a known quantity already.. however you do make a great point tho
I feel it's almost always the case, when things like this happen, that everyone messes up to some degree. Unfortunately it seems to be our nature to insist it was always someone else's fault. If everyone would recognize they had something to do with the problem that would be step one to recovery.
CatnamedMittens apparently he was not happy the way Optic as an org treated him, which came about because they either offered him a contract that was too late or didn't pay well enough.
Are you an idiot, hey didn't leave the first OpTic team, did you even listen to Thorin ...? People love to dick ride Stan right now but it was his fault for snaking the first team. He left without even telling his teammates so they had no time to replace him properly, Liquid kicked him out. The team had no IGL after and couldn't survive.
Just watched whole thing, does Shazam was just spectator or what? Stan barely mentions him, and from what i saw on twitter danes arent mentioning him aswell.
True, he's the IGL and Chet is the coach. They should be the leaders and manage how the team is run. Shows that they had no control and didn't take their responsibilities seriously.
55:30 I think that when a team can get along fine (clearly not the case) swaping IGL just to test is not an issue but when the team is almost falling apart thats just the last blow
Am I the only one wondering why Thorin has a headset on? He looks uncomfortable with it as well since he keeps adjusting it. I apologize ahead of time if that is where his mic is, I just always assumed he had a mic stand.
It's so he can listen to voice playback in real time as he can actually see of there are audio problems. It's the same thing you see on radio or television.
Interesting point on the differences on how in different cultures you have to say things differently. Sometimes it even changes the meaning of the words you say.
I wish you brought up more of the Danes responses on Twitter. I feel like it makes Stan's side a little stronger with how childish they acted over all of this.
Regarding Maelk's assurance that Konfig and Cajun were easy to work with, remember that Maelk is Danish himself and what you said regarding culture and expectations.
This is gonna sound so biased since im Danish but I really dont think the issue is nationality, cultural differences might be though. Maelk is more of a international figure and I dont really associate him with Denmark, dont think he'd risk reputation just because of sharing the same country of origin with some players
Said to myself to not pick any sides before i get the full story from everyone included delivered, but based by every immature tweet coming in from Gade/Konfig, it's really hard to not stand by stanislaw.
It's funny because every team Stan is on he was criticized and overrated. The first team, he snaked OpTic and left without even telling his teammates... Then liquid made him be a rifler because his IGL'ing was trash and then he got dropped where he criticized liquid in another twitlog. Now Optic again seems like he has issues every team he's on and is a problem. Dude has a thin-skin.
I'm a Dane myself and like other Nordic (And large parts of Europe in general honestly) countries we're generally brought up in a very collectivist culture where as Americans are generally brought up in a very individualist culture. I could see that be a potential issue honestly. That's one of the main differences between most Danes and most Americans (obviously there are always exceptions on both "sides"..) in my opinion. Here we're taught that we're a part of a "team" (a society) and we need to work together to achieve things, to make things work etc. which is also one of the reasons why I think Scandinavians generally do well in team based esports, they don't need to learn to work together once they're on the team, they've been taught that throughout their lives already. Unless the person in question just has a shitty personality, teamwork shouldn't ever be the problem in Scandinavian teams to be honest. To me it seems like Americans are about as far from that mentality as it's possible to get. It's all about the individual and "Fuck you, I got mine!" over there (Generalizing obviously) where big egos constantly seem to clash, where everyone wants to be the star, where playing a support role in a game is almost looked down on etc. It's no wonder to me that they have problems getting good IGLs over there to be honest. The potentially good IGLs mostly likely try to be the stars as well, and even if someone tries to become a good IGL, chances are the others don't want to listen to him because he's not as good as fragging as they are, so what would he know, right? I obviously don't know Stanislaw's personality at all so I can't talk specifically about him, but I could see those mentality differences causing some "friction" in a team with Americans and Danes. Then there's the fact that Danes can be very direct and blunt as well obviously, which is more in line with what Thorin used as an example. Don't ask a Dane a question if you don't want to hear the answer. We don't do small talk so when people ask each other something, we assume they actually want the answer. For the same reason the American "How are you?" greeting is very weird and confusing to us since people don't actually want to hear how you're doing, they're simply saying "Hi". :P Compared to the USA we're also a pretty taboo-less society I think and I wouldn't be surprised if we can come across as offensive at times. We're sarcastic, we're very direct, we enjoy banter like the Brits and so on, so if you're not used to that I suppose you might think we're just insulting you for no apparent reason. We're not though, banter isn't meant to insult anyone, it's lighthearted joking around. :) About living away from your own country, people also has to remember that people in esports teams, sports team etc. aren't actively trying to become American (or whatever country their org/club is based in), they're just there to do a job they've been hired to do, nothing else. Chances are they'll leave again if the team doesn't work out, so there's not really much point in talking about it integration and shit considering how short time players tend to be in an org anyway. They have to follow the rules, norms and laws while they're there of course but to even talk about integration efforts, becoming American etc. is a waste of time when chances are they'll be gone in a couple of years anyway.
Interesting insight into Danish culture although I disagree with the last bit about integration or at least the way you phrased it. I doubt any player will perform to their full capacity if they're feeling homesick or just view their current team/situation as a stopgap and on a fundamental level if you feel isolated then you're not going to be particularly happy
In my experience when someone above you like management says not to worry, you should be even more worried and start planning an escape route. It should definitely raise a red flag.
Also we do have to note the tweets that came out after this. It seams as if gade and konfig are a bit passive aggressive and hold animosity against stan.
i'm a bit confused. He's the in-game leader right? that does not mean he is the teams leader/captain? So if they make decisions as a team outside of the game and that doesn't work that just means they had to have a team leader/captain.
The thing is why didn't Stan say anything previously, why does he now come out publicly. That to me shows he has no backbone and is two-faced, he's supposed to be IGL and should've been controlling the team along with Chet. It's funny because he seem to always be sensitive when he leaves/dropped by a team.
I agree with most of this. My only contrary opinion is that stan needed to earn the respect of Konfig and cajunb. The fact is that they are PROFESSIONALS that are paid to play and produce results. Approach your JOB like an adult and treat the player your EMPLOYER chose to lead your team. The idea that stan needs to earn the respect of a player who is clearly on the back side of his career and currently in his career worst form is silly. He should be shown some sort of professional courtesy. If he didn’t want to be there he shouldn’t have signed or perhaps not been playing badly enough to be kicked.
This is an example of why thorin is the best and my favorite person to go to when stuff like this listens. He's smart as fuck. At least smarter then me. Also he makes me laugh.
Nikita Marynich its still cold as fuck where i am. extremely drawn out winter. snow was on the ground up to this week and its still below zero at night
Stanislaw needs to find some fucking assertiveness. Maybe rolling would help him be less of a pushover. It takes a certain type though. Probably the type that also first thought "New job, 5 men, 3 from Denmark, enormous salaries. Well, time to learn Danish; even if out of sheer frustration." Then again people in their 20's act in strange ways, so that might backfire. At 25 years old I would've ended up maliciously breaking someone's elbow or shoulder. Good luck getting on another team after that. Now that I think about it, I was so unsure of myself and didn't have any sort of discipline until well after my brain was already through developing so I am a poor example. Also, aren't they living in LA somewhere? Having the Gracie Academy where Ryron and Rener Gracie teach as a resource close by seems like a pretty legit way to start to me. Although there are great places all around the world to study jiu-jitsu, or be a Judoka, or learn to box. Seems like a shit idea to not do any. Notice I said do not try. I don't know these are things for people who "try" things. However, it has become apparent through life choices I am a dumb man so, grain of salt and so forth.
Danes are proud but claiming that we are 'very nationalistic' is really not applicable to anyone under the age of ~35-40. Aside from that, good video as always.
It blows my fucking mind that these pros complain about being away from home, very few people get the opportunity you've been given, and it does not last that long. Adults, in real life, eventually have to grow the fuck up.
Seems like Thorin has to spit fire because its the only thing keeping him warm at home...
Mr Welshy lol!
Vintage Thorin.
32:30 IS fucking gold
Oh by the way.
"Although things ended the way they did, I'd still like to thank Jacob for the opportunity (fuck knows why), because I really feel that his intentions were good" - It's hilarious xD
Lucky to wake up and get a 1.5 hour Thorin video to start my morning. You're now my oat meal partner!
It was a huge portion
“We are red we are white we are Danish dynamite (no Stanislawwww cluuub)”- Thorin 2018
Another classic. God damn Thorin always delivers on the 40 min+ vids. Love you man
The ending of this video big man Thorin says 'as an in-game leader you might be fire at that, maybe with the right team, right players, the right environment and the right period of time it all goes great' and that basically tells the story of the beginning of NRG/EG from 2019-20
One and a half hour long video about esports drama. First since that one Dota video two years ago or the donezo manifesto.
CatnamedMittens I want to hear his opinion but I dont have time for this lol. Half hour sure, but this.. jeez
You realize you can watch this while DM-ing, or doing shit around the house, or going to work and shit right ?
just skip to 1:23:00, he sums everything up in 9 min
Diavolo222 Exactly all of the videos of podcasts and thorin videos i go to the gym and workout. Multi-tasking at its best
Полиграфович I listen to the whole thing while playing eu4
Synopsis everyone looks terrible after this, and this team was a joke that never even played a lan.
Hell yeah Daddy Thorin always delivers
thooorin i just love your videos. you have such a great mixture of good content/information and the occasional joke
-Stanislaw +Thorin?
On the *fire* power it would be an upgrade.

Really killed it on this one, mate. A Classic for sure.
5:20 oh snap Thoorin with the editing skills lol
I feel it's almost always the case, when things like this happen, that everyone messes up to some degree. Unfortunately it seems to be our nature to insist it was always someone else's fault. If everyone would recognize they had something to do with the problem that would be step one to recovery.
Loving your Thoughts. Especially with all those NBA references. Keep it up, plz.
Thorin my man delivering fire facts
Giving the gingers a good name my man
The only thing I wanna know is why he left the first optic team that won eleague.
CatnamedMittens apparently he was not happy the way Optic as an org treated him, which came about because they either offered him a contract that was too late or didn't pay well enough.
Yeah the org had no money for them and was not good enough to handle a CS team...no coach, no manager , no budget and all that
Are you an idiot, hey didn't leave the first OpTic team, did you even listen to Thorin ...? People love to dick ride Stan right now but it was his fault for snaking the first team. He left without even telling his teammates so they had no time to replace him properly, Liquid kicked him out. The team had no IGL after and couldn't survive.
Butterbean The beginning of your sentence says "he didn't leave" then later you say "he did leave" Are you confused?
Just watched whole thing, does Shazam was just spectator or what? Stan barely mentions him, and from what i saw on twitter danes arent mentioning him aswell.
18:01 I want this on a thorin soundboard so bad, would play it every time I'm getting shit in matchmaking
Doesnt sound like Stan is law. Sounds like Stanhasnobackbone.
Andrew o0f
True, he's the IGL and Chet is the coach. They should be the leaders and manage how the team is run. Shows that they had no control and didn't take their responsibilities seriously.
Ouch

I don't care too much about Stanislaw, but the points Thorin is making about team dynamics and Stan's rhetorics kept me watching :)
How did you make a 1hr 30 min vid about this lol?
Zlatan Wizard bcuz he is awesome
Zlatan Wizard because he cant express himself the oyher way
Because he goes off on so many tangents. 10 minutes in, and we've barely dissected the first 6 words.
49:20 konfig & cajun to sk was also an option?
givemeajackson you got a semi shout-out on Twitter so I guess he agrees that would be an option
say wut?
twitter.com/Thooorin/status/990232309227032576
ahahahaha yay, i'm some random yt. cheers thooorin

Am I the only one wondering why Thorin has a headset on? He looks uncomfortable with it as well since he keeps adjusting it. I apologize ahead of time if that is where his mic is, I just always assumed he had a mic stand.
he is hiding his ears :>
It's so he can listen to voice playback in real time as he can actually see of there are audio problems. It's the same thing you see on radio or television.
Listening to playblack. Or just keeping his ears warm
Also is not helping he is a little high on this video
mogyesz9 Yeh cool unsubstantiated claim buddy
By the Numbers but replace the " richard lewis " with ESP
Interesting point on the differences on how in different cultures you have to say things differently. Sometimes it even changes the meaning of the words you say.
“Gade a fuckin clue” - I lost it at that point lol

fearmemortals uhm. He talked about that.
Andrew its a 1,5 hour video, cant expect everyone to watch it through
Quality material as always.
This is the reason i love Thoorin
Can we start a fundraiser to get Thorin a good central heating system already?
Said to myself to not pick any sides before i get the full story from everyone included delivered, but based by every immature tweet coming in from Gade/Konfig, it's really hard to not stand by stanislaw.
To be fair, they are hardly any more immature than Stanislaw whining publicly (apart from that konfig reply to the c0mplexity tweet)
it wasn't whining tho, it was the truth that has to be spoken.
Redouane Syy it's Stan's truth, not to say he's lying, but it's only his perspective
his POV's looking pretty much right following the unprofessional tweets from the danish sides.
It's funny because every team Stan is on he was criticized and overrated. The first team, he snaked OpTic and left without even telling his teammates... Then liquid made him be a rifler because his IGL'ing was trash and then he got dropped where he criticized liquid in another twitlog. The Truth
“You know what fans are like, young, naive, stupid”
Couldn’t be more right 😂😂
Also we do have to note the tweets that came out after this. It seams as if gade and konfig are a bit passive aggressive and hold animosity against stan.
This video was gold.
I feel like a lot of these team management issues shouldn't fall on the igl, the coach needs to be the person that keeps players in check.
bruh the references are unreal........ th000rin is a real one gawd
perfect analysis typical thorin 👌👌
Will you make a prediction about new shox's team (Smithz,Ex6tenz....)?
Patreon question: how many scarfs do you travel around with?
Fucking CRISP Thorin vid
Nice terence mckenna reference when he talked about culture.
Fell asleep part way through. Woke up and he was STILL GOING. stanisyawn
i'm a bit confused. He's the in-game leader right? that does not mean he is the teams leader/captain? So if they make decisions as a team outside of the game and that doesn't work that just means they had to have a team leader/captain.
I don't really buy Stan's statement entirely, not after he left the first Optic back then. :>
How many times will thorin adjust his headphones
Preston CSGO about as many times Stan manages to get kicked from top teams.
Mic sounds like it's on its way out, around 30:00
57:00 stay hydrated everyone
Can we do the same video for todays MIBR and why they won't become the master team they aspire to be?
The thing is why didn't Stan say anything previously, why does he now come out publicly. That to me shows he has no backbone and is two-faced, he's supposed to be IGL and should've been controlling the team along with Chet. It's funny because he seem to always be sensitive when he leaves/dropped by a team.
I feel like the daines knew from the start they were going to try and replace the americans
Thorin, you will be at Faceit major?
Time to strap in for an hour and a half of straight fire
Came for the intro stayed for the video.

Almost summer, still wearing coat + scarf, must be good ol Thorin
Nikita Marynich its still cold as fuck where i am. extremely drawn out winter. snow was on the ground up to this week and its still below zero at night
Was that a u/shittymorph reference? Nice.
Make a video about the imperial. Espiranto is a genius
Where is Thorin from? It's winter in here or what? =D
That North Comment was straight fire
This gonna be good
Stanislaw needs to find some fucking assertiveness. Maybe rolling would help him be less of a pushover. It takes a certain type though. Probably the type that also first thought "New job, 5 men, 3 from Denmark, enormous salaries. Well, time to learn Danish; even if out of sheer frustration."
Then again people in their 20's act in strange ways, so that might backfire.
04:52 now try guessing whos gonna win next tournment

Stanislaw has nothing to his name but a one good major run with Optic

Danes are proud but claiming that we are 'very nationalistic' is really not applicable to anyone under the age of ~35-40. Aside from that, good video as always.
