I would say the Pixel 4a is the closest thing to a (distant) spiritual successor, which is probably why I have one of them now!
I loved ths OnePlus 5 I had. It was so good - the battery, the software, the UI and many other features most phones did not have. I used it for 2 years and my mom used it for a year before the battery life started getting bad and the phone felt very outdated. I had switched to the OnePlus 8 since I knew I was looking at a solid 3 years with the phone. After one year with the OnePlus 8 without any issues, they switched over to Color OS. I hated it. The UI was bad and the phone had all sorts of bugs. I had just moved to the US and started using 5G, but the 5G on the OnePlus was not much different from the 4G I used to get in India. I was using my Indian sim along with T-Mobile and after upgrading to Android 12, the Indian sim was not getting read in the phone. Idk what happened, but it was after the Android 12 update, and I couldn't get the sim to work. After restarting, or after an update, I was not able to receive internet on the phone through my T-Mobile sim card. I had been in a few situations when I badly needed the internet and it did not turn on. The phone storage was never read when connected to a computer. The default Gallery app showed none of the photos or videos in the storage. I had too many important files in the phone, so I could not reset the phone, nor could I create a backup since the storage couldn't be read on a computer. To my luck, T-Mobile offered a good value for trading in my OnePlus 8 and I got the iPhone 13, been happy withthe the iPhone ever since. It's true, OnePlus DID live long enough to see itself become the villain.
@NonLegit Nation ive also got the 7 Pro and think its a phenomenal phone. I tend to do slow upgrades, I went from am LG rumor touch to the Galaxy S4, to a LG G5, to the 7 Pro. Kinda wish they kept the hideaway front camera because its honestly one of my favorite features since I do a lot of movie watching on my phone. Dunno what my next phone will be, but im looking for some kind of a hideaway or hidden front camera.

You know I used iPhone. But when I realised that being a fan boy of apple doesn’t benefit me a bit. On the other hand, my mental disorder or isheepness only enriches the pocket of apple, a company that never wants to give a bit what we isheep fans literally BEGGED for. We begged for type-c port. They refused. We begged for fingerprint unlock system besides face-unlock at least in this pandemic. They brashed us away. The list can go very long. Now. I am not a isheep anymore. You know how this benefit me? I only think which product of which company is serving me more. I use products from different companies . I am not inside a ecosystem jail. I am free and benefiting myself.
Bruh if OnePlus added wireless charging and maybe refreshed the specs every few years and left the rest of the phone alone, I could see myself using my 7 Pro for the rest of my life. I used to get a new phone every year, but this one is so damn good I can't imagine wanting a new one for another few years, especially given that there aren't any good all-screen phones out right now.

I became a OnePlus 7 Pro fanboy as soon as I bought one. And it was my first and last OnePlus phone. With 5 months of use my device had the BSOD and had no way to get back. All of this happened in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and my country's and US postal systems were closed long enough for my warranty to expire.

I've had my 6T for 4.5 years now, twice as long as I usually keep my phones, and it still works as well as it did when it was new. Even the battery life is still fantastic, I only need to charge it every 2-3 days, I haven't had that since my Nokia 3310. Despite that, I recall it being 30-40% cheaper than the big brand flagships. 10/10.
I love the attention to detail of Marques using the 2014 intro music and the og background and wallpaper on the double monitors. Refrencing the era of the original Oneplus one video

Exactly. Happens to me every time with my oneplus 7 pro. They ask me if I have an Apple phone as my priority phone, and I deny. Then everyone says what Samsung do you have then
But the thing is when apple users talk shit about android they think all of them are ass like an old Huawei or something. They think Samsung, Google, Lg, and One plus phones are just as low quality.
I wonder when xda dev gonna stop pushing out the updates? Unless it It's a piece of cake to port the custom ROM and doesn't require complex reprogramming. However, it's true that smartphone will get obsolete anyway one day.
What would've been worth mentioning is that the OnePlus 1 and its spiritual successors weren't just a flagship killer because of their software, or listening to customers and so on, but specifically because they used to have the flagship processor at a hundreds of dollars lower price point than the flagships, at an acceptable feature loss, back when processor speed still REALLY mattered.
In the US, now that Google isn’t really competing in the true flagship space, Motorola is competing with budget phones, and LG is out of the race, it really just leaves Samsung and OnePlus as our best options for Android unless you want somebody like ZTE.
Had the one plus 7 pro for 4 years after a one plus 5 both great phones however the updates went downhill and caused issues with each one and took 3 or 4 updates to sort the issues out whilst adding new ones.
Absolutely true The software on my OP6 was good, basically everything working as expected. The OP7T was the same for the first year, then the dreaded Android 11 update came and the phone was total s**t after that. Now I'm waiting with updates for at least a few weeks until they sort out everything.
One plus 5 was amazing one of my favorite phones. Eventually I got the one plus 8 and that started to give me constant little issues until it just broke (something with the processor) haven't used One Plus since
Going to be sticking with my 7T Pro for as long as i can honestly, previously had the OP5 but the front camera placement and screen of the phone was too appealing to pass up, let alone the performance jump. only time will tell just how much more OnePlus will take from OPPO in it's designs, OS decisions and whatnot. As stated in the video it's either a company can't sustain for a niche or branch out to the masses, regardless of what the company stood for when it first brought out a product, they're still solid phones regardless despite not quite being so.
I've got the OnePlus 7 pro and 7T pro McLaren edition and I'm looking forward to seeing the Android 12 update. I love my OnePlus 7T pro except for the fingerprint reader is bad. The OnePlus 7 pro is brilliant but unfortunately I bought it used and it's got an annoying level of burn-in🤷
I think Apple killed oneplus. Before, oneplus thought Apple will keep making expensive iPhone which only the elite can afford and we can just undercut their phones and try to get the mid tier customers on board. But little did they know that Apple will start making their phones more economical so that everyone can atleast afford their phones, that is when oneplus started dying. I mean who would buy a oneplus brand which no one cares for other than the fanboys vs apple which is a pretty established brand.
