    I'd like to see you paint actual paint on a prepped surface. I think that would make it easier to see the differences. Looking forward to the Black Widow vs. Sata video. Does the Black Widow come all set up with the disposable cups? Makes the difference between the $140 and Black widow even more negligible.

    I watched the different segments again and again to compare the fog and application. I agreed with your assessment. I am retiring and wanting to get back into body work for fun. My old binks was nothing compared to that spectra. The old bowl gun just became a primer gun. Going tomorrow and will be seeing if they have kids for it in the store. We never had these block sanders and allot of the new stuff. Been out of it since 1991 when i changed employment to afford a family. Thank you for the comparisons.

    I'm so glad that you went with the clear. It looks a lot better and it will give more protection for years to come. When you do the top you should take which ever gun you think sprayed the best and give it once over coat over the whole car to just blend it all together. That's if there is a big differences between the panels. Would be even great if you signed the inside of the trunk lid and even clear coat that as well, so the winner will have and cherish it for years to come. Keep up the great work and content.

    I use the green gun for primer and enamel implement paint for tractors. It sprays out pretty decent. I have more expensive guns for base coats and high solid clears. But don't be afraid of those harbor freight guns. They are cheap yes but they work great.

    Harbor Freight just open a new store in my town, this past Thursday. Before I would have to travel about 45 to 60 minutes to get to one. I've stayed away from it this weekend, but plan on going to check it out on Monday. I've never shot paint before, so videos like this will help me when I get done with my project. Keep up the great work.

    I only do a paint job about once every 5 or 6 years. I never clean the purple gun except before use. I throw it away and get a new one next time. The thinner, acetone, mineral spirits, whatever you clean it with, costs money too. If I were to get a Black Widow, I would baby it and make it last the rest of my life. Usually if I am painting it myself, it is a beater and I am trying to save money.

    Happy Father's day Casey! Thanks for the review, really interesting. Since I build custom minibikes I'm wondering if the 25 dollar gun would be good enough? Also what pressure were you working with?

    • @1982MCI
      @1982MCI 2 роки тому +2

      Yes, the green gun will do a good job for you on the minibikes. I’m assuming your going to just be painting frames a black or silver then something a bit nicer for tanks and fenders correct? A couple years ago, I did custom paint on a couple food trucks and I used a couple of the purple $12 guns and they did a fantastic job. If you have any painting experience and skills already, then yes, the purple and green guns can deliver fantastic paint jobs. I’ve been using them for probly ten years for certain jobs so I don’t have to pull the high dollar guns out. The only issue with both the purple and green gun is they won’t last forever but I’d be willing to bet with as small a job as your doing and if you clean your gun good, your gonna be able to get a couple years out of each one. I
      Give it a try Lucas, I brt you’ll like it! Take care man and good luck to ya

    Yep - the Black Widow has a screw on mix pot - takes the pain out getting paint into the gun, cuts a (bleep) ton worth of clean-up on less-than-full-car jobs. 😎
    (And there's the '65 Mustang-infused be-bop-mobile! Love that.)
    Masked up for 2-tone patina? 😁 [JOKE]
    Ooh! You need an exhaust fan. Look for someone changing out an old house forced-hot-air-heater and set up a filler panel with the blower to let your overhead down on - clears like a wizard. (Set it up to suck in around the shaft opening - just some round HVAC ducting.)
    All those guns laid down nicely. Especially considering that it was hot. I think the Wizard was a little ahead of you - that thing put down some paint!! I was used to DeVilbiss MBC-style siphons BITD. Gravity feed is an adjust for me.
    Glad to hear the glass is coming for the '54 Chevy - that is a beautiful old car.
    Thanks for the great work - Happy Fathers' Day!

    Whoever nosed my Chevy filled in where the hood ornament went, but where the crest went they just welded the holes shut and put in a handful of bondo which ended up cracking after 10 years. The color coat we used (black) when we sprayed it came in patchy, so you could see the primer through it and we were TERRIFIED that it wouldn't cover. Once we added the clear, it went from looking like a $10 rattle can job to looking like piano gloss black, we couldn't believe it! 😮

    Hey Casey, I'm just curious, have you ever used compressed oxygen, say like from an oxy/acetylene set, to spray paint? I'm so frickin curious as to what it might be like. Absolutely no moisture, pure O²? Would it change the fineness of the paint or the pattern of the spray? Would it make a difference in the amount of paint that you would use? Again, I'm just curious, that's all. Just curious if you have ever done that or thought about it. Hmm?
    Okay, enough weirdness out of me. 😄 Haha!
    Later, God bless,✌️peace

    • @CaseysCustoms
      @CaseysCustoms  2 роки тому +1

      It would be ungodly expensive, you’d prolly use 1000 dollars in gas for one paint job. Also there is no moisture in regular air if you have a hood enough drain/filter system, or at least you can get it so little that it’s unnoticeable

    High Pressure Low Volume guns were outlawed in the 80's I do believe...
    The switch to High Volume Low Pressure guns took over, due to certain mandates, I forget the technical name for it...

    • @1982MCI
      @1982MCI 2 роки тому +1

      High pressure was not outlawed except for California. You can still buy and use them most everywhere else in the country. The industry has pretty much leaned away from them tho and for the most part only use hvlp but since you can still walk into any auto body supply or online and buy the old high pressure low volume gun. I still use them today for certain things. There were some mandates and regulation changes you are correct about that but I’m only aware of them actually being outlawed in California. Others may have joined them by now, I’m not sure but I know it’s not nationwide yet.
      It’s kinda like the waterborne paints. California outlawed the solvent based paints a few years back and other states have it but don’t mandate it.
      Take care Mr. Ford, be safe out there

    Easy to get "priced into" the top level guns. Lotta research and data analytics goes into pricing stuff like this, they start with pricing the top level gun and then step down just enough to make you think like Casey did "why not spend a little more and the get the best gun?" The cheap ones are targeted at people that will use them once or twice and throw them away.
