  • Looking at an old paladin press classic 'put em down, take em out!' Knife fighting methods of Folsom prison. Anyone into Combatives, particularly blade orientated Combatives practice will know this classic book. Primarily the book is about how the knife is used 'offensively' in an extremely hostile environment full of apex predators. This clip relates only to the section, where you are stupid enough to have been caught unarmed, and are now facing the knife yourself in an unarmed sense! This as you might imagine is an extremely small part of a pretty small slim line book but none the less I wanted to give some merit in class!
    Enjoy

'Next thing I'm doing is running'
Wise words and good to see a realistic self defense class.

20 years ago I trained with a riot officer who trained cell extraction in the Victoria prison system Australia, this channel is teaching everything almost exactly like how he trained us, I knew nothing about self defence until meeting this guy on my second night as a security guard. Love tuning in

It is not about being stupid not having a weapon; rather it is about not being either aware soon enough, or able to draw your weapon fast enough. Sometimes going to a weapon can mean your death as you are pre-occuped with something other than saving your life as quick as you can. Shoving aside a coat, pulling up a shirt, releasing a retention strap, etc. We had one training drill that started with being stabbed and not before, because sometimes you don't know you are being attacked until you feel the first stab or first punch.

The more I look into combatives from real people, the more I directly see Southern Chinese boxing styles like Hung Ga, Chu Kar, Hakka Kuen and Jow Ga kung fu (I used to practice Jow Ga). This kind of simultaneous pain-inducing offensive and defensive is LITERALLY what is taught in our forms. This particular technique is literally double tiger claws in our form. It is done EXACTLY like that. The only (and fatal) problem is that we Traditional Chinese Martial Arts fighters NEVER actually drill these with any resistance or non-compliance! We just have theory. Great theory, but theory multiplied with absolutely nothing else is fucking 0. This is exactly why we TCMA fighters are so weak and have become a joke. Sorry for rambling! Thank you so much for showing this!!

Still some of us who pressure test by "crossing hands." With the effective and minimalist protective equipment available today, non-compliant, hard contact sparring at about 2/3 real world speed should be the norm and it's not. Form Faries abound. Legit fighters, not so much.

@enter_the_ru Your advice is very much appreciated you are not rambling, your words reflect much of how I think, that most techniques in martial arts and self defence schools is nearly all unproven theory. Thankyou for your contribution

"Flowery Fists & Embroidery Kicks" was the ancient way of saying some could dance but not fight. I can do both. It takes years of training to gain skill in any endeavor. Path is usually body conditioning, form, and fitness. Once the body is strong and mind is pliable, we introduce touch hands till one can handle sparring. I had a dozen street fights between 15 and 25. Once I started training, no one fought me outside of a Dojo / Gwoon, or Tournament. I am now in my 50s and in great shape! Get in great shape, train hard, then find a partner to spar, the benefits are worth the investment of energy and time!

I spent 5 years in prison in Australia. I have seen dozens of people stabbed in fights. Most of the time, they didn’t realize they had been stabbed until after they either dropped or had 10 holes in them. From what I’ve seen, it’s very difficult to fend off someone with a blade if they’re intent on stabbing you. However, you have some awesome ideas that would definitely help in a bad situation. Your channel is very informative. I look forward to watching all your work.

Practised from the book with a friend as a teenager. Wooden butter lnife in one hand and mma-glove on the other. Got a bit to
painfull when we did butterknife versus buttetknife sparrring.
But i like the book. That book and some of dog brothers empty hand versus knife were the only stuff that felt as if it had a chance of actually worling
In the DB-version ypu head but while simultaiousky using a sligbtly diffrent x-block that gets ypu closer. I think both methods work well together.

Lee Morrison was raised with English manners. Refers to a hardcore penitentiary convicted felon aa a "resident". This guy is the fella they used to write Terrence Stamp's role in "The Limey." Both men = Class Acts & Righteous Blokes who restore my faith in Englishmen.

But, curiosity, is there’s places a person can live without the threat? Or, is it Lees preferential places where others like the same but there’s just those that might be a problem?

Little about My friend who is a retired US army ranger of 20 years and also a 4th degree black belt in tae kwon do. Long story short, as I was watching with a large group of parents our children train at the tae kwon do center the one man beside me always sat beside me to watch his grandson and asked me specifically “ who do you think is the toughest person on the mat is” and I said my buddy George the helping instructor….he is not in the per say tough guy even though he is but is deadly.
    He asked “why “
I told him about his military career and said he is basically a walking killing machine with lots of combat experience.
Long story short (and funny but shocking to everyone including the other instructors and parents) this gentleman asked George kinda loud after class ended so everyone would hear and I think also to prove me wrong:
    Here is the conversation
“George if you were in an actual street fight what martial art move would you use”
    George responded without hesitation
    1. I would kick him in the balls.
    2. Attack the eye(s) viciously
    3. Then proceed to use my knife when attacking the eyes
Everyone was shocked. The man who asked the question said “ really?!?”
George replied yep, that’s what we learned in Ranger school for life or death close hand to hand combat and it works
So long story short. Everything this video and gentleman is showing you lines up a very true and is. A devastating double or triple combo.
And to look at George and talk him is the most gentle and gracious man you would meet. We were weight training partners and friends for years before he told stories but mainly with other combat vets men .
I just listened and felt I deserved no right to start asking questions .
I miss George…..he suffered from severe PTSD
