Mobile detailing in Orlando FL really has its challenges. To this day this was the toughest detail job we have ever done. Trying to remove rock-hard expanding spray foam from a Mercedes-Benz without destroying the paint/finish and making sure the residue from the foam was removed. We tried all kinds of chemicals to remove this expanding foam and nothing worked. We also tried acetone like the expanding foam can suggested and had no luck, it did not work as effectively as the steam. The heat and the pressure of the steam were the perfect combination to not only remove the expanding foam but also melt the residue left behind. Even though the steam removed this stuff, it took a very long time. This car was more than 40% covered with this substance. It was the next day after the accident when we were able to come out and by that time this expanding foam had more than enough time to cure. What made it even more challenging was the splatter. So many little dots made the cleanup process so long. We had to remove each dot one by one. We had to go slow to ensure the residue was removed so we did not have to backtrack.
Five long hours later we got the results we needed. The power of steam was able to remove the expanding foam all without damaging the vehicle's paint.

What you have there is polyurethane foam. It is time consuming and difficult to remove as you demonstrated. By the way, nice job with the steamer. That client should be really happy with the work you did.

So what do you do if you don’t have a power steamer or access to a power steamer? Is there a DIY way to do this myself? I have the exact same issue, but on a 2018 F150. Please help if you know a way for someone to do without having access to a power steamer

This just happened to me last week and I am not happy…The foam however was all over the road I had no idea what it was…As I approached it a car sped around me on my left, then cut in front of me as we were both taking an exit ramp and all this white crap blew onto my car 🤬🤬🤬🥺😭… Now I know the solution…Just need to find someone with a power steamer…Thanks for sharing.

I am in Idaho, too far away from you. What is the brand of your steam machine and I will try to buy a used one.
