I love Super Foods! What a wonderful trip! Here in San Antonio, the round tostada shells are a staple. We make chalupas and tostadas. Think about them as an open-faced beef or chicken taco, or in leaner times, we spread refried beans and some shredded cheese on them, put them in the oven to melt the cheese, and if you have some lettuce and tomato to top them, it's a great meal. If you don't, it's a cheap meal, but still good. In restaurants they can get real fancy with guacamole and shredded letture, diced up tomatoes. The salsa is everything. The prices of your tortillas and tostadas are much higher in price than ours are. I'm so happy you got some splurges this trip Mr. Tom! We all need a little treat now and then. As a Hoosier I always buy the Red Gold ketchup for the same reason you support the Wickle's. The tomatoes from Indiana and Ohio go into the Red Gold and I support local when I can.
Buckeye/Hoosier family ties go back to before The Doris Day show debute as my Grandpa was completing his residency at the hospital when she presented to hospital as she had fallen from stage in Cincinnati.
The hard corn tortillas are for making tostadas. There are many ways to make them but it's basically a layer of beans, then your choice of meat sour cream, salsa, cheese lettuce and tomato. Salsa is very inexpensive to make. Just blend tomato sauce with serrano or jalapeno peppers, some onion garlic, cilantro, salt and a little cumin. Toasting and charring the onion and peppers makes it taste better and adding a little chicken bullion cube as well. One blender full makes a ton and freezes well. Mr. Tom, remember Cancer feeds off of sugar and processed carbs. Just had to say it cause I care. Thanks for the fun trip to the super market.
Mr Tom, my garden is terrible this year. Japanese beetles are attacking the sweet potatoes, but I make them go swimming in a container of water with dish soap. Yep, those hornworms get squashed by me daily. Gives me pleasure to destroy them. Now I'm finding the nests of babies on the back and undersides. Those get pulled off and smashed. My tomatoes have dried up flowers, not many tomatoes. But, the winter squash are prolific from my compost, so I'll have plenty of squash this winter. We're getting a sprinkle of rain today. I water early in the morning and later because I can't do this heat in mid-Kentucky. I'm going to start collards and more kale plants now for fall. Less of a bug problem in fall. I had collards through the winter last year! Blessings to you and the kitty krew. Stay safe out of the heat. ❤

Hello Mr.Tom! I've had you on my mind and in my prayers Mr.Tom! I will hope and pray thatyou have safe travels to and from all of your Dr's appointments this week. I splurge on a few things that theres just no comparison to such as my families favorite mayonnaise is one that I get name brand especially if it's for special occasions or for potato salad.As far as apples i usually get gala but i use to buy only red delicious when my children were growing up if i had to buy them from the store. Doesn't hurt to splurge Mr.Tom sometimes it's the only thing people get to splurge a little is with food items.Thank you for the treat of the pudding !😊I Know up in my area meat prices have jumped up in price this week. I have really noticed this year again that the cantaloupes have all be horrible but a few Athens that were got about a month ago. Thank you for bringing us all along on your trip to superfoods! Oh and the ketchup i get for my children and grandchildren is the one without corn syru that is made with pure cane or without sugar at all.

I watch for sales ,at the different grocery stores and divide the bacon into portion sized enough for me and my husband, and freeze it in vacuum seal bags. A vacuum sealing machine is well worth the money.
I'm loving the splurge! Sometimes you need to treat yourself. You can only be frugal just so long before you start wanting the stuff you have been doing without. I tried to get grocery today but our Neighborhood Walmart was closed so I tried Food Lion and they were closed. Traffic lights were out and no way did I want to turn back in the other direction to try other stores in worse traffic. I have enough to get through a week before I start to get nervous. Hopefully they resolve the electric issues by then. I got so very lucky and didn't lose power. But a couple of million Houston/Houston-metro still without power today. Hurricane/Tropical Storm Beryl left a total mess in her wake and hasn't stopped yet on her way to Canada. Will be thinking of you and praying.

Hi there, my daily smile! you know we enjoy these Super Food grocery ride alongs! More than that even, we love you. Looks like you folks in Alabama are fairly well stocked. I wish I could say the same for us in Northeast Florida. For the first time in about 2 yrs. I'm seeing some consistently low stocked shelves. I'm not the type to panic or, say there's a shortage just because the store is out of stock on one or two grocery shopping days as there are many reasons why this could be a short term thing like, a holiday , weekend, or the first of the month. But, I'm finding coffee of all forms and brands being out of stock for over a month now at WM, Winn Dixie, Aldi and Target stores around here. Bread is running low at the same places, all brands. This being Summer and mid month, I can't imagine what's going on to cause this. There are other items lo as well. This is a new thing for us down here. I hope you're eating well Mr Tom. Take good care of yourself. You always give me a smile as a bright ray of sunshine.

Most of your store items are so much cheaper than what they are here in Florida. I was stunned at some of your cheap prices. And jealous, I have to admit. You'll love the Honey Crisp apples you got. They are fantastic. But that bag here would run twice or more the price at which you got them there.
Prices are cheaper there than Indiana too. But then again, they have an added sales tax on food there. Guess it all evens out somewhat in the end. It's expensive everywhere.
I was going to say the Herdez salsa is good. I make my own too buy run out as I drown my tacos with it or the Taco Bell sauce. I still have Taco shells that were a buck left and still good. Prices are getting crazy. I push myself with that garden. Buy seed in bulk of some things like beans and can up a lot each year. Picked 1.5 gallons of beans in a week already. Hope you're feeling okay with that heat down there.
I don't buy anything from Smithfield. It's owned, grown, and packed by China! They own a lot of other brands of pork products like bacon, ham, and smoked sausage, under their umbrella, such as Eckrich, and just about everything else except for Hillshire Farms and Bar S... unless you get the local brands like Gwatleys, etc. I looked it up and quit buying the ones they own. I also won't buy anything from Tyson either!

The prices here in Canada are so much higher, eggs are 4.25 doz, meat is so high, 5 lbs potatoes 6.00. I try to buy as much store brand but mostly I shop the sales at the store.

I eat those Fast Bites for lunch occaisonally. They are decent. The best frozen pizza is Freschetta rising crust. I cook one every Sunday evening for 25 min. Whats left over is even great microwaved later that week. They are not hard as a rock...lol

Those Chips are so high, the Store couldn't use any of their preprinted sales tags and had to pull out plane Red Paper and write out the price by hand. Eggs are still one of the cheapest proteins packed full of all good stuff. Great shopping trip. I subscribed!😅

My goodness your veggies are really high.Far Northern California here.I can't believe your prices.Wow.I just went shopping the other day.Head lettuce 109,bell peppers 68 cents,corn 4-6 for a buck. Cabbage same as you,,celery 110,and califlour 149, asparagus 199lb, zucchini 69lb.BarS hotdogs 60 cents but most of meat way more.Cheapest bacon five bucks.They had Vancamps pork n beans for 69 ,yep I bought some.Cambell soups same.Our meats are expensive though.770 did you say for a whole chicken?12 bucks here.Those corn tortillas are for tostadas.What you wanna buy is corn tortillas,soft.Great deals and better for you.Taste better too.Milk is 4-5 bucks a galloñ,at least .Chips 650-7 bucks.My prayers are with you Tom everyday.❤️🙏

I did notice you showed beenie weenies at $1.23 per can, cheapest place I get find them around here is Walmart for $1.27 per can. I buy them every week for my husband’s work lunch. But Sir your prices are half what ours are on a lot of items. when it comes to mayo, mustard ketchup relish expect to pay over $3 each for small container. Fruit and produce oranges are $1 each and the bags are easily $5 to $9 and most are half spoiled. due to health issues we cannot eat just any bread we have to buy low sodium low card high fiber breads so it is $5 a loaf. . so I grow a few things, and can what I am able. in Winter we bake bread. I hear your week is a busy one but please take time to rest and care for yourself we worry about you sir. you and the kitty crew have become apart of our family. Love and prayers to you always sir. Most everything was much cheaper, than in San Diego. But corn, bell peppers, chips, soda and meat are cheaper here. Regular price on chicken legs at Costco is $.99 a pound. But your bread was MUCH cheaper. I enjoy your videos. Thank for taking the time to post them.

My goodness, I enjoyed the shopping trip, it reminded me of what I use to eat. Now days it's low low carb. and little as possible seed oils. Hardly any grains of any kind, lots of eggs, meat protein and animal fats. But that durn caramel, sea salt, chocolate chips ice cream at walmart reminds me I'm a carb addict. I love potatoes and limit them but Mother Nature has her ways. BMI yesterday 24.02 and I'd like to get it on down to 22ish.

If your potatoes sprout….plant them! Get more and easy to grow, just keep covered with dirt so they don’t turn green. They are a nightshade plant!

The flat corn tortilla shells makes good Mexican pizza or top it like a taco salad. They are so good!! Especially with refried beans!

Most of your store items are so much cheaper than what they are here in Florida. I was stunned at some of your cheap prices. And jealous, I have to admit. You'll love the Honey Crisp apples you got. They are fantastic. But that bag here would run twice or more the price at which you got them there.
Prices are cheaper there than Indiana too. But then again, they have an added sales tax on food there. Guess it all evens out somewhat in the end. It's expensive everywhere.
I was going to say the Herdez salsa is good. I make my own too buy run out as I drown my tacos with it or the Taco Bell sauce. I still have Taco shells that were a buck left and still good.
Prices are getting crazy. I push myself with that garden. Buy seed in bulk of some things like beans and can up a lot each year. Picked 1.5 gallons of beans in a week already.

I don't buy anything from Smithfield. It's owned, grown, and packed by China! They own a lot of other brands of pork products like bacon, ham, and smoked sausage, under their umbrella, such as Eckrich, and just about everything else except for Hillshire Farms and Bar S... unless you get the local brands like Gwatleys, etc. I looked it up and quit buying the ones they own.
I also won't buy anything from Tyson either!

Why does it matter who owns the companies?
China is buying up every thing, and we can't not buy 99% of foods that China owns, or else we will starve.

The prices here in Canada are so much higher, eggs are 4.25 doz, meat is so high, 5 lbs potatoes 6.00. I try to buy as much store brand but mostly I shop the sales at the store.

I eat those Fast Bites for lunch occaisonally. They are decent. The best frozen pizza is Freschetta rising crust. I cook one every Sunday evening for 25 min. Whats left over is even great microwaved later that week. They are not hard as a rock...lol

Those Chips are so high, the Store couldn't use any of their preprinted sales tags and had to pull out plane Red Paper and write out the price by hand. Eggs are still one of the cheapest proteins packed full of all good stuff. Great shopping trip. I subscribed!😅

Cabbage same as you,,celery 110,and califlour 149, asparagus 199lb, zucchini 69lb.BarS hotdogs 60 cents but most of meat way more.Cheapest bacon five bucks.They had Vancamps pork n beans for 69 ,yep I bought some.Cambell soups same.Our meats are expensive though.770 did you say for a whole chicken?12 bucks here.Those corn tortillas are for tostadas.What you wanna buy is corn tortillas,soft.Great deals and better for you.Taste better too.Milk is 4-5 bucks a galloñ,at least .Chips 650-7 bucks.My prayers are with you Tom everyday.❤️🙏

I did notice you showed beenie weenies at $1.23 per can, cheapest place I get find them around here is Walmart for $1.27 per can. I buy them every week for my husband’s work lunch. Greetings Mr. Tom glad to see you out and about. The grocery store is never a place I want to go .. But Sir your prices are half what ours are on a lot of items. when it comes to mayo, mustard ketchup relish expect to pay over $3 each for small container. Fruit and produce oranges are $1 each and the bags are easily $5 to $9 and most are half spoiled. due to health issues we cannot eat just any bread we have to buy low sodium low card high fiber breads so it is $5 a loaf. . so I grow a few things, and can what I am able. in Winter we bake bread. I hear your week is a busy one but please take time to rest and care for yourself we worry about you sir. you and the kitty crew have become apart of our family. Love and prayers to you always sir. Most everything was much cheaper, than in San Diego. But corn, bell peppers, chips, soda and meat are cheaper here. Regular price on chicken legs at Costco is $.99 a pound. But your bread was MUCH cheaper. I enjoy your videos. Thank for taking the time to post them.

My goodness, I enjoyed the shopping trip, it reminded me of what I use to eat. Now days it's low low carb. and little as possible seed oils. Hardly any grains of any kind, lots of eggs, meat protein and animal fats. But that durn caramel, sea salt, chocolate chips ice cream at walmart reminds me I'm a carb addict. I love potatoes and limit them but Mother Nature has her ways. BMI yesterday 24.02 and I'd like to get it on down to 22ish.
