    Cool video! I got this kit in my 2015 XP1K with 32" Carnivores and it completely changed it.... The high speed whoops and dips are a cakewalk now.... Just picked up a 2018 Trails & Rocks and will be throwing this kit in that right away as well.... (After i have the springs powder coated gold) Thanks for the video!

    Great video, nice detail on your set up. I just put the Eibach stage 3 set up on my 2017 RZR, similar set up to yours and I agree, best thing I've done to my RZR. Did a ride in the Hualapai Mountains... Awesome!!!

    Very well edited video. I'm planning on at least doing the spring kit for my XP4 but I'm also considering sending them in to re-valve this winter. I know on my dirt bike, re-valving also made a world of difference.

    I see I'm late to the video but I'm new to the UTV scene, I have a 2014 xp4 1000 and I think my springs are just worn out and looking at just doing some springs to lift it back up. I just cruise around on the trails and not haul ass so just wanted that ride height back especially when 4 adults are in it. Thanks again!

    • @ChupacabraOffroad

      A spring kit with the correct spring rate would improve the ride and help a ton, with 4 people in the RZR. If you can, spend on a revalve as well. All Tech Motorsports in Temecula, CA is who we use, and we think they are the best in the industry. The XP4 1000 is a great SxS and you will be glad you spent the money, those stock Walker Shocks leave a lot to be desired, especially after they have a lot of miles on them.

    Good vid very insightful. Tires vs springs as the only performance upgrade you have done from your description. Which is better. I'm a 18 xpt dynamix owner. Up in the long lost other west coast Washington lol. I needed bigger tires, skid plate, winch, etc. I have been tossing up Walker sway bar links or springs to handle the extra weight from suspension, cage, spare tire, recovery gear, etc

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  4 роки тому

      Id say tires, only because the stock Big Horns can't handle too much real off road and sharp rock abuse, even though the springs are amazing for ride quality and comfort. But budget for both!

  • @tomk5047
    @tomk5047 6 років тому +1

    Those x-over rings are crazy high, when i did mine they suggested 1" in the front from the top of the plastic spring separator to the o-ring face and 2 1/2" in the rear

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  6 років тому +1

      You are talking about the measurement at ride height? I'm not bottoming out (on the hardpack), although there is a little added sway, which I'm currently willing to deal with, given the plushness. I will definitely drop the rings when I head to the sand dunes, or (consistently) have more weight in the RZR. It's just what I'm into right now, and I really need to go for the re-valve and stiffer sway bar to get to the next performance level. But for the money invested I'm pretty happy, this RZR is more of a budget build, and I'm working on a new project that will be on a whole other level.

    I went and talked with them today. I am going to start with the spring upgrade first and see if that helps out my 18 turbo x4 dynamix. If im still not happy Ill have them do the valves as well but hope the springs make me happy. There is a lot left to be desired in the stock suspension.

    • @ChupacabraOffroad

    I’ve got a ‘15 RZR 900 S 2 with the Fox bypass and dual rate in the rear. On 30” BFG’s and OMF beadlocks. The rear secondary from new collapsed completely regardless of settings. Race XC and now with the Eibach springs I get about an inch and a half before the secondary kicks in. New collars and no more donkey kicking in the whoops. It was almost ridiculous how soft the stock spring rate is on them new.

      Jim, I'm using the same recommendation that Shock therapy uses (for simplicity and to use their setting), bottom of the upper casting to the bottom of the lowest crossover ring. Check their website for the install instructions for the photo if this isnt clear enough. Thanks for the positive feedback, good luck!

    Great Video! Machine looks great! I was curious on the adjustments for riding with 3-4 people. I have the same 2018 Turbo 4 with WE's. I just got my shocks back from shock therapy with the new springs and re valve and the car feels great. I have not had a chance ride with 4 passengers since I got the new shock work done. Did you feel you needed to adjust the crossover rings for the added weight of the passengers, or do you feel just by stiffening up compression dampeners it would be fine. I just want to eliminate an bottoming out which i have not experienced yet with two people.

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  6 років тому

      Michael David I would say yes to lowering the crossovers, especially if the riders in back are more that 30-40 lbs and or riding in sand dunes. If the rear riders are 120+ I’d suggest hedging a little higher on ride height as well... always hard to tune these types of changes! Then fine tune with clickers based on how aggressive you are driving, total passenger weight, heavy cooler, etc.

      Thanks Jason. I have left the clutching 100% stock, no belt issues after 1,300 miles, but I run very light 30" Skat Trak paddles in the dunes, which is the only place I've ever broken a belt. I'm probably leaving a little performance on the table, but the power on hard pack is more than enough for me and I've never had an issue. Most of my buddies that have clutch work done seem to have more belt slippage and issues than me.

I think local is a big deal in terms of suspension tuning, to be able to offer great customer service, like suspension tuning services in the dirt bike market. Are the Fox shocks significantly better at least? I assume you have the High/ Lo compression adjust, better springs and crossover rings?

Also, their ride height was really close right out of the box, so far I'm really impressed. • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  3 роки тому

      I've sold that RZR, but going a little lower would also be great, as I was running it high the RZR was more "tippy", and after going with an amazing tuner Wayne Isrealson of All Tech, he informed me that going higher isn't always better for overall performance. If I went to Moab I'd keep it high, but for everyday riding I might go back down .5".
      I hope this helps!

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  6 років тому

      Josh, I'd have to say that dollar for dollar, the Walkers with springs is a better buy: If I were going to buy a 2018 Turbo RZR, the Walker machine is $3K less, so $800 for springs are you are in a much better spot IMO. The high dollar Fox IBP ($5K) shocks are amazing, if you could find a deal on those, and sell the stockers, it's worth it. But I think the spring kit would make most people really happy, it really depends how picky you are and how much you think you will spend long term to get the performance you want.

I have a 2018 xk4 turbo, I ride a lot in Barstow which looks very similar to that terrain. I have to say I like to go somewhat fast. I don’t shy out on any whoops and drive it hard. I have noticed It feels a little hard though, 99% of the time I ride is with one passenger only. I have the walker Evans. Any tips pls , thanks and yes talk to me as if I don’t know anything , in details pls I’m really trying understand all of this and how it works

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  5 років тому +1

      Silver Diaz, do you have 32" tires? Keep in mind my ride height is with tires that are 3" taller than stock. As for "hard", you don't bottom out? I would ensure the compression clickers are all the way soft, to see if you bottom out at all, being that you ride aggressive and Barstow is rough. If you are still on stock springs, it's stiff over the chatter, feels vague, and a new spring kit helps a lot with that. Then, having the crossover rings, will give you another adjustment option. Sounds like if you are trying to understand or get better, my advice is to measure right height, and adjust the clickers every time you stop for a break, and then see if the clicker adjustments (either stiffer or softer) make the ride better or not.

I wanted more speed so I got a tune by evo, bow off valve, turbo boot, also the tube charger shit I don’t even know what I bought to be honest lol they told me that’ll make me faster so I got it. Also a Gibson duel exhaust and tomorrow I’m getting a dragon fire clutch kit installed. Maybe I’m not going fast enough and just think I’m going fast??? Cause I don’t think I’ve bottomed. Bottom means using all the travel and hitting right ? I like whoops I like driving them fast that’s all I know lol im looking into some long travel kit from super Atv’s that’s only 2k, yea I know really cheap that’s why I haven’t pulled the trigger yet have you heard anything about that kit? Silver Diaz I’ve heard of the kit, and you would definitely need to Re spring for it. So it sounds like you need to decide long travel or not. I have a Super ATV steering rack on my new RZR build, but haven’t heard experiences about their LT kit. Yes, bottoming is using all the suspension! Is the Rzr brand new? If you are new and only have a few rides on it, I’d suggest you ride and get use to it, then you will really appreciate the upgrades, whichever route you go.

    Quick question. How far down do you have your top shock collars front and rear? After initial install and first measurements I was 16 in the front and only 11 1/2 in the rear. Stock tires. Mine measure at front 1 7/8 from the top of shock to the shock collar. Back is a little over 3 1/2 inches. This is after I got the ride height set. Just curious. I have a 19 XPT 4 and I'll be passing this on ST so they know.

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  5 років тому

      Your ride height was only 11.5" in the rear? Since I made this video, Shock therapy has updated their recommendations on their website. From what you are telling me, 16" in the front sounds too high (remember I had 32" BFG's which are almost 33" tall) and you are on stock tires. Significantly taller that stock 29" tires. Sounds like you need to really raise the rear and drop the front to get to where you need to be. Make sure you find the exact instructions on Shock Therapy's website, they vary on Fox versus Walker Shocks. I hope this helps....

      My skills of communication in writing needs improvement. That's what I started at. Currently I sit at stock height 14 front 13 1/2 rear. I was wanting to know where your top shock collars where sitting at after you made adjustments to get to the right ride height? My fronts have about 1 inch left before I top out and the rears have a ton of room. Just didn't seem right when I set it to the instructions via the web, then had to go back and adjust all for corners 2 inches or more. Just curious to where you ended up, specifically the top shock collars, front and rear.

      @ChupacabraOffroad  5 років тому

      @@densons7mx733 I only focused on ride height, measuring the skid plate to the ground, front and back. This is most important, and what matters. One of the reasons these springs work much better, is because ST uses longer springs (which take up more room than the stocks did) to maximize the performance. If you are stock tires and 14 and 13.5", I would bump up each .5-.75" for ride height (so 14.5-14.75" front and 14-14,25" rear) and see if you like it better, but you are close and in the ballpark.
      The rear shock is significantly longer so you will have a lot more room, its just how it is. Once you are happy with ride height you can start playing with the crossover ring height.

      @ChupacabraOffroad  5 років тому +1

      Congrats on the new RZR, the Dynamix is really cool. If it were me, I'd start with a spring kit from Shock Therapy or MTS Off Road, both are based near me in Arizona and tune for the Southwest. The springs include crossover rings, so you get a little more adjustment. It's funny, the Dynamix is, on one hand, next level technology, but also, a basic 3 button choice for customers that are afraid to adjust suspension, or don't know how. I think in the future, the technology will be open source, so you can create your own tune, download RJ Anderson tunes, etc, which will make it pretty exciting. I put about 50 miles on a 2 seat Dynamix in Glamis, and the "Firm" setting was really stiff on hardpack, but I liked how stable it made the RZR in the sand, above 45-50mph. Good luck!

      Christopher, you are right. Also, I measured with myself out of the RZR, ST recommends being in the RZR, which is a .5-.75" difference. Also, the BFG 32's are a tall 32, almost a 33" tire. Basically, I'm about .75-1" taller than their recommendations, but I'm always experimenting. The taller setting is great in really rough terrain, but with the BFG's being narrow tires, the RZR feels a little "tippy" versus my other tire setup (ITP Ultracross R Spec). One reason I like being a little high, is that it's set up for only me, so if the wife or friends get in, or I'm carrying fuel or extra supplies or a heavy cooler for a long trip, it lowers the RZR some, and reduces the bottoming I would always feel, when I would set up the RZR lower. I hope this helps...
