It couldn't be a motion sensor without an accessory. To use an IR sensor that way you need a black glass lens to block out all wavelengths bar IR, which is missing here. A mouse doesn't need this as all light is blocked out by virtue of it being held flat against a surface.

Since it is magnetic, a hall effect sensor could have done that. Far less complicated than a window plus a specific sensor. Also why would the console need that? There is also (probably) a wired connection and the eject button position to detect something like that. The mouse function is a 100% logic reason for that and even the buttons become handy that way.

Including around the front of the system, the power/sound rocker, the card slot. and around the kickstand. So the detachable grips are grips added to the Genki Case. There were multiple types of case just like this for the Original Switch.
The pin could also serve a dual function other than detatching the joycon - when the pin is depressed flat on a table it could engage/trigger the 'mouse mode'

Im hoping for a mouse but those joycons seem way too thin to be comfortable to hold for extended periods as a mouse. Unless theres some kind of mouse "dock" that you atttach the joycon to.
It's actually just becoming strange that the console hasn't been formally revealed yet. I mean, we've seen literally everything of it. To the point where the majority of marketing people are seeing of this console are all related to third party accessories rather than Nintendo themselves. I don't know if they want to wait for CES and Trump Inauguration to be over so they can dominate the news cycle or what, but it's getting weird. I do not recall the reveal of Switch 1 being like this, a few patent leaks here and there but that was kinda it.
I see a circle on the back of the Switch 2 in the render, I know its probably not the case, but that would be cool if that were a Mag-Safe magnet, and would allow a battery pack with wireless charging.
If Genki is releasing their accessories within 3-4 months, then I have to believe the Switch 2 will release within that time period as well. If they wanted to have a window period, Genki could have probably said December 31, 2025. Seeing as they did not, the Switch 2 reveal and release has to be close.
It's super interesting how there's basically nothing left for Nintendo to reveal except the price and the software, and there's been no real leaks on anything to do with the software. It makes me think that Nintendo is 'allowing' some of these 3rd party manufacturer leaks (or reveal plans changed after NDA time limits were locked in), because unlike with Switch 1, they know that the hardware is the least interesting part of it, and want to focus on the software as much as possible when it's time to actually announced. Especially given that the leaks have kept the conversation on Switch 2 within the specialist media, without them having to do anything. Mainstream media is unlikely to pick up leaks, so for the mass market - they still get to be in charge of the announcement. I'm sure I'm not the only person here who's already sold on the Switch 2, on the basis of it being an upgraded Switch - right now; I just want to know what games are coming, and when.
I have been skeptical we're getting a January reveal until now, but these leaks are ramping up hard in a way they haven't in past cases. I'm starting to feel it's coming very soon
Nintendo watching us drool over and want Switch 2 (Super Switch) to be revealed as soon as possible be like: let them be…drop the bait more to entice these fools Tbh i know damn well Nintendo are playing with us and they just LOVE to tease us with their mystery xD
well if I understand this is the look once the cover and accessories are on we do not know what is below it... I also hope as it looks really bad in my op. If what I think is true we can expect a very thin and sleek switch, very similar to the old but much thinner than that.
do i think it can be used as a mouse? no i personally think its the same sensor in the nintendo switch joy cons that are used to detect when its moving thats about it.
Wait, isn’t the product the black case that the manufacturer is advertising? The colors are possible the traditional colors from the original switch launch so it’s not stepping on the new products toes.
So it looks like that back trigger presses a button on the inside of the Switch, which disables the permanent electromagnet on the Joycon. The pin helps separate it. Also looks like an optical sensor on the bottom. Nintendo is sick 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
so... will it have 4k and all that? I've kind of kept my head out of the rumor mill up until now because I didn't want to get my hopes up, but if everyone is saying this seems to be in line with the rumors then I guess I'll jump in just a bit...
I hope the Pro controller for this console actually has paddles in the back. I find it hard to play games without it especially when Xbox Elite and PS5 Edge controllers have them.
I believe this is 100% accurate, while I am sure Nintendo is super not happy about these leaks, the hardware is actually going to be the least of their marketing for this thing. Because this is an iteration on the Switch it won't have as much impact as the original, so how are they going to bring the wow factor? I think it will be two screens using video streaming to the dock, I also think it will be the 4K upscaling and MOST important will be the games. I think Nintendo is holding off the release to make sure that have a killer lineup like 2017.
Tbf if it's announced in, let's say a week, that could be 3 months prior to an April launch, which is only 2 months fewer than the original Switch. Definitely quick though, for sure

Just give me Mario kart 9 and Mario maker 3 please! 🙏🏻
New Mario Kart is rumored to be a launch or near launch title
If Genki is releasing their accessories within 3-4 months, then I have to believe the Switch 2 will release within that time period as well. If they wanted to have a window period, Genki could have probably said December 31, 2025. Seeing as they did not, the Switch 2 reveal and release has to be close.
I'm not really seeing anything inregards to the Switch 2 dock has some sort of built-in hardware but nonetheless "I'M HYPED" for this thing.🤞🏼
The hardware isn't that uninteresting, I'm sure the next Steamdeck will heavily borrow from whatever Switch 2 pioneers
I have been skeptical we're getting a January reveal until now, but these leaks are ramping up hard in a way they haven't in past cases. I'm starting to feel it's coming very soon
Didn't take André as a Dead by Daylight fan
Been HOOKED (get it?! ;) for a couple of years now. I mostly play Survivor though; killer stresses me out too much lol
Mouse scanner is actually the Vitality sensor
The showcase is likely happening this month now. I've seen people suggest this week, but I think it will be after DK releases.
They’re screwed, the ninjas are gonna be on their asses now 😂
Nintendo watching us drool over and want Switch 2 (Super Switch) to be revealed as soon as possible be like: let them be…drop the bait more to entice these fools
Tbh i know damn well Nintendo are playing with us and they just LOVE to tease us with their mystery xD
well if I understand this is the look once the cover and accessories are on we do not know what is below it...
It looks like a whole body shell case and those grips lide on and off the proprietary case, not the switch itself.
Nice video! Not long to go before the reveal now ❤
If its coming out in April they probably are gonna reveal in by febuary for at least 3 months to build hype. But yeah PLEASE just reveal it DAMN.
Funny if Nintendo just leaves the switch 2 for pre order and not even have a presentation.
Nintendo too stubborn for their own good lol
Nintendo knew what they were doing. Free marketing for them and they haven't even announced it yet 😂
So it looks like that back trigger presses a button on the inside of the Switch, which disables the permanent electromagnet on the Joycon. The pin helps separate it. Also looks like an optical sensor on the bottom. Nintendo is sick 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dude that is clearly a case. You can tell on the top.
Really unfortunate we had to see a reveal from a completely different company
Man, at this point, I'm just happy to hear we don't have to wait much longer.
Definitely going to be a wait I doubt it’s coming out in April Nintendo probably pushed everything back
so... will it have 4k and all that? I've kind of kept my head out of the rumor mill up until now because I didn't want to get my hopes up, but if everyone is saying this seems to be in line with the rumors then I guess I'll jump in just a bit...
I hope the switch 2 is backwards compatible with switch 1 games and accessories.
What is work on are switch games? Or do we have to get new switch? Games for it
Why are so many people excited to use the joy con as a mouse lol
It is not releasing in 2 months after a reveal! This isn't releasing in April
Tbf if it's announced in, let's say a week, that could be 3 months prior to an April launch, which is only 2 months fewer than the original Switch. Definitely quick though, for sure
The times where products needed 8 months of marketing is over my guy. Nintendo could do a shadow drop of a system if they really wanted to.
You mean 3 ? Wdym 2
Dang, crazy how quickly the reveals have ramped up. Personally, I won’t be getting it anytime soon, I’m on PS for now, but I could totally see myself getting it at some point. I’ve loved my 2017 Switch for ages, so I’m due for a bit of a break from Nintendo personally.
The nintendo switch 2 will be an day one purchase for me
Madden, mario, call of duty, Zelda, pokemon, nba 2k, Kirby, metroid, elden ring, dark souls, is all that i need for the first year of the system I'll be set for a long time
@GameXplain
Could that dock work for the Switch OLED
Everybody that doubted NextHandheld owes them an apology
I'll believe it when it's actually revealed by Nintendo.
Wish it was more ergonomically shaped at the back, like a Steam Deck/N64 pad
The great thing about a modular console is that you can get different controllers with better grips
