YELLOW GAP ROAD IS OPEN!!
Yes, you read that correctly. Look, since I’ve moved here I’ve wanted to ride Yellow Gap Road. It’s the key to Pisgah National Forest from where I live. Sure, you could take the Parkway out that way. But dirt is always better than pavement.
Yellow Gap Road has been closed for the last few years from storm damage. I had recently heard a rumor that it was about to reopen and then read again that it was open on an adventure riding Facebook group. Ultimately, I decided I needed to see it with my own eyes.
I headed out early in the morning and rode through Bent Creek, down Wash Creek Road and into Mills River. From here I found the rumors to be true! The gate to Yellow Gap Road was open!
I rode out Yellow Gap Road towards 276 and spent the better part of 10-15 miles on pristine gravel road. At 276, I turned left and headed down to the fish hatchery to catch another dirt road. The days goal was solely to scope out the road and see how bike did on it.
Overall, I’d say Yellow Gap Road is a masterpiece. It’s twisty, it’s steep, it’s fun. Go ride it. You won’t regret it.

Awesome ride! At 55yo and 160lbs, I'm thinking this is the perfect bike for me to explore the Natchez Trace Parkway and Mississippi's back roads on.
I love mine and it sure takes me wherever I want to go!

🙄 I um.. a... Gotta get a seat pad for the Tw200. The monkey will probably stay street, and has spoiled my tush, but The Tw200 abuses the nether region. I also just acquired both last year and work a lot. And just started back riding after 20 some odd years of not. I might haul it up in the truck to Hartford then ride from there. It's finding the time. Hope to see you out there someday.
P.S. The real Rocky Top Mountain is not to far away from Max Patch. Gotta cut through a bit of Del Rio TN and its near the 15th. Insane amount of dirt roads up there as well.

Thank you! I’m using Shinko 244’s. I currently have a 2.5 front and 3.0 rear. I’d say it’s one of the best upgrades I’ve made to this motorcycle.
