“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!
Tracey speed is goals!!💓💕💅👏
lol goals for sure!
I love soaking up Tracy’s wisdom almost more than I love watching her work !
she has the best tips and tricks
Wow, wow, wow. I mean, just wow. The skill to be so quick. I'm in awe. You truly are a master of the art. Beautiful set.
thank you!
That was so amazing to watch. Tracy, you are a rockstar.
She sure is!
Well this is a GOAL!! My clients have alot more out growth and when nails need shortening they need rebalancing, so the prep would take longer. Good reminder about maintaining our DRILL bits. ⚘💕
totally we plan to put out more videos and 4-5 week old re-balances will definitely be touched on this is just the beginning ;) stay tuned
Great! Thanks for listening to the audience. Thanks Tracey and Stephanie. Looking forward to more
welcome happy you are enjoying them!
OMG THANK YOU !!!!!! Drowning in depression over my time Tracy u hit on all my problems. I bought a YN kit. Hoping it was my product that was most of my headaches!!Also thanks for explaining core n speed. I’m working on putting my shop together but COVID and fear so overwhelming. Again thank you so much I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!
I’m in awe. I can’t believe you do 14 clients a day with 30 min appointments. You’re gonna give yourself a heart attack 😳. I feel pushed at my salon and I have an hour per client (just for gel on natural nails). How long does it take you to do a 4 to 5 week fill ( I mean with shortening the nails, cuticle work, rebalancing the apex)? I honestly want to know how to cut back on the time I spend doing nails but after 3 years of trying, it still takes me an hour and a half for long nails 😢
We will be doing more videos on all real life salon scenarios including re-balancing
It sounds like you're doing Amazing, 1+1/2 for long nails. 💖💖@luxnailsbyleah
@@youngnailsinc Yes! I'd love to see a shorting, rebalance and fill on an baby boomer (not airbrushed) I struggle with this and it takes me forever!
Really loved this especially so we could watch the entire process♥️
happy you enjoyed it
I needed Tracy as my nail tech 😩 she does it ✅ right
I just switched to YN acrylic from whatever main brand Cosmoprof sells and can say that just using YN has shaved 15+ minutes off my services. I could never get the consistency right with the other brand, it was just too finicky and unpredictable. YN is so much easier to work with and no lifting!
awesome!! happy to hear it
Agree, here in Rome YN is represented not so well as it could be, but I know only 4 brands that have the correct quality and formula in their products.
Tracey is insanely fast and delivers incredible results. Congratulations on another job well done. Thanks for the tips and for showing me it’s def. possible as long as I work at it YN rocks!
Wow! She is amazing! 👏🏻💪🏻🌺❤️
Tracy's skills really blow me away. The way she blows through steps so quickly but you can still see that she is being very thorough and detailed is amazing. This is what people mean when they talk about a master nail technician.
rockpaperskizzers thank you ❤️
haha exactly!
Watching these video’s I have learned proper way to to place your hands while e-filing! If techs learn nothing more than properly holding your e-file, it’s a win! It’s been a game changer for me!
awesome!
Great job Tracy nailed that 30 minutes. I loved that it was simple but elegant.
I’m just waiting for another Habib training video please 🤗❤️✌️
haha more videos coming all the time!
Great job, thanks for your realness as you filmed. I have been a Nail Speacilist seems from the beginning of time. I love your style rules etc. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for the love!
Absolutely fantastic, thank you for these videos! You learn a lot that you can't learn in technique videos!
Happy you are enjoying them
At the end, the pinky nail, one seemed bigger then the other. 😅 However Im learning a lot with this videos, thank u so much and please PLEASE keep them going! 😄
happy you're enjoying them
I couldn’t happily send my client away without a perfect finish and love my job because I form relationships with my clients but this is great to show us we can squeeze clients in if they choose something simple. These videos are great 👍🏼
There's a clientele for every tech, some clients appreciate a high quality set in a timely manor as they have places to be. Certainly if someone requested an additional amount of time as long as you are charging for it there's no problem with that! If you and your clients are happy then no need to change right.
Absolutely. Thanks again for the vids x
Wow that's a lot, really busy lady 🤍☺️ this shows that she's a master in this nail 💅 thang! ☺️
Thank you so much!! I love seeing the real time process it helps me so much on my goals, you are amazing, I love your company and what you are doing for new techs like me. 💚😊
❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank you for the love!
Beautiful set! Tracy’s speed is crazy!
Love, Love the look, great job Tracey!!!!!
thanks!
I just started holding the fingers from the top side instead of underneath. It helps immensely with movement and lets the dust fall into my extractor fan vs all over my hands. The one thing I do that I haven’t seen anyone else do so far is hold my polish bottle while I polish. I hold the finger between my thumb and pointer finger and the bottle rests in my palm supported by my pinky. I thinks it’s strange to keep the bottle on the table and go back and forth from bottle to hand. Does anyone else hold theirs?
I also do that sometimes especially if the bottle is almost empty holding it under an angle like that helps get the product out ;)
definitely! and yes very comfortable
Greg holds his bottles! I have tried this and it is slick, however I have to consciously do it since it doesn’t feel natural. Guess I have been doing nails for too long by placing bottles on table!
I do the same with my polish too!!
I hold mine usually also. It helps with speed
Beautiful Tracey, Thank you!!!
thanks for watching!
Beautiful! I love this series😍 In upcoming videos can you talk about ways to get your client's to change their behavior at appointment time? I've been trying to work faster but I have those clients that seem to want me to take longer so they can chat! Lol What do you say to them when they want to show you pictures on their phone etc when you're just trying to get the nails done...without being rude lol! Thanks so much!!!
haha true true this can be an issue, in the fist real time vid we kind of touch on ways to get your client talking while you are working but unfortunately sometimes it is just a conversation that needs to be had.
Thank You so much.......no more coffee breaks, on the way back from the pottie,,, And no more more naps while i am working on their nail, (Pedicures ok) I took notes on your system.i find myself repeating steps a few times ( i feeling i got to get it perfect, yet after 2 hours is a hot mess any way.)
Happy you found value in it
😍 your last, first real time video helped me sooooo much! I’m 15 minutes quicker with appointments now😃 thank you guys!!
awesome!! that's exactly what we are doing it for
Tracey I love your job you are wonderful 🥰🥰🥰
This is Goals! Absolutely incredible!
So good!
Love these real time videos! Keep them coming 💗💅🏽
will do!
Wow, I loved this video you should make more like this 😍 with the actual time 💅💅
That's awesome, truee about products. Good products is the key.
totally!
Hm.. I tend to be too precise on the cuticle area and all these extra steps cost me extra time :) i will just try to do it faster in the future but in no way ever would I skip those last perfection touches :)
right, still produce quality but don't over think it!
Same I started timing myself. I was spending a lot of time on prep.
It's hard to be that way when it seems every nail is lifting hard on that client and the white line gets better but don't go away yet your half way through. Some are clients from other salon and some my own but lead lives with heavy activity which iss not impossible seeing here in this video and hearing the conversations that are priceless literally. Ty ty ty.
Loving this new series! I watched from start to end! 😍😍
❤️❤️❤️❤️
You guys have done it again 😍 love the new series 💞

You slayed... great job Tracey.

Gorgeous set 😍
❤️❤️
I would love to see a fresh full set of sculpted gel in real time. Cant get it under and hour and 45 min
Elizabeth Mericle we’ve got full sculptured acrylic on Wednesday then we will do gel 👍
Not sending them to the RR has been a GAME CHANGER!!!!!!
RR?
totally! saves time and you don't lose them in the rest room! lol never know what they are gonna do when out of your site
I honestly don't usually like nude nails. But this color with the glitter is beautiful, I would so wear them.
they were so good!
Omg😱😱 took me 2.5hrs today. Now I'm just a trainee, but still🙈🙈
Can't wait till it will take me that golden half an hour🤪🤪🤪
Just cut your time little by little every time
Petra Breedijk it took me 2 hrs to do an infill today also. I’m a newly licensed tech. We will get better. I tell my clients this and they understand.
@@andreawhisenant2718 good to know I'm not the only one😉
Petra Breedijk Nope and were not the only two🤗
@@andreawhisenant2718 nope or 3
Beautiful set!!!
thank you
Excellent, wish I could be that fast, well done
practice practice practice
Very pretty. This series is actually so inspiring. How long 'should' this take for someone not as experienced?
Speed comes with time honestly, focus on technique and speed will come with repetition. Start out by timing yourself start to finish then give yourself a goal on your next attempt to cut your time down by 5 min.
Can you also take off the colour with a sanding bit? and then do the prep at the same time? With a medium gritt?
It would take more time to remove color with it, but prepping with it works just fine. the cross cut is equivalent to a med sanding band
@@youngnailsinc but faster than a handfile? I am a beginner with efiling and I bought an efile that came with the sanding bands. I thought I would give it a go
This is great!!! ❤️ but unfortunately not my reality, the clients take forever to decide what they want to do, by the time that they come back for a fill in the set is destroyed and the shape is to redo, they don’t want to pay extra for the glitter.... 😔.
As long as you are charging for all of that! Usually once they understand they are paying for the damage they do to the set they tend to take a little better care of them.
Damn that's beautiful!!!
thank you!
Wow! Tracey!! You don't even look like youre rushing! Fills like this still take me 1hr. How many years of practice did it take you to do fills in just half an hour?
speed just comes with time. lots of years and lots of clients. start by timing yourself then make it a goal to cut your time down by 5 min.
LOVE the effect of the 'FLASH AND BURN' GLITTER. Did you use a SLICK POUR POWDER(containing fine clear acrylic)? Thanks
💐💐💐💕
Yep!
Beautiful nails, but the pinky’s sizes are way off. Not trolling just an observation. Anyway learning so much from these vids! Keep em coming and Thank you!
More to come for sure
The nude with flash and burn😃💗💗💗 Love!!!
Same! Love it
O WOW thats inspiration ❣️
totally
Wowwwwww
OK what makes you decide which topcoat to use finishing or mani q?
AGAIN ..... LOVE REAL TIME!❤
So are we! Too much fun
Does that temperature of the room really matter? Please do explain 😶 my house is usually always cold so I’d like to know whether to set my thermostat a bit more on the warmer side so I can have a more successful acrylic application 😊
So I can rest on the fact that I have not even been to nail school yet but I can do an Arylic nail set on not only myself but I have practiced on my daughter and I am really happy with myself for visually watching utube tutorials and learning how to pick up a bead and actually have a decant Arylic àppĺication this far I am really wanting to get my licence as a Nail technician
Love the real time videos! This was unbelievable, I honestly thought you wouldn't make it in time 🙆🏽♀️
I do have a glitter question, why didn't you mix it in the top coat? This is something I learned true young nails videos. Now I am just curious why you did it the way you did.
just alternative techniques
So, Tracey says she changes her bits once a month, or even every week. This makes sense, but just a thought. Bits ain’t really that low priced. How would this work with tech who don’t have constant in and out clients (constant money flow)? Xx 💋
She said she changes every week if she does a lot of acrylic clients. If you don't do as much, you wont need to change out as much. 😄
She goes through bits due to a large number of clients, however like she says in the video if you spend money on new bits you save time allowing you more time for more clients. It's like a cycle you spend money to make money
Tracey rocks 💪🏻
❤️❤️
How long did u wear ur nails back n the day? I struggle to put a form on ther ppl but have no problems with me
Really whatever is comfortable, it changes
That's a big brush and pointy ☺️🤍 which one is that one? I would love one of those 🤗
That is our artistic sculptor brush, size 9.
www.youngnails.com/products/yni-artistic-sculptor
@@youngnailsinc Thank you ☺️
Great job. Is that the same brush you would use for the initial application or is your brush smaller for fill ins?
It is the same brush, you would bounce your brush less times in the powder so you get a smaller bead.

Can you make a dragen flame on a set of the nails
Here are the videos we have that are kind of dragon themed:
ua-cam.com/video/EhQ4ghgC1XM/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/KkmaKWLDwCM/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/qlqs0L2KHSQ/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/kp2SNLWTxQw/v-deo.html
What kind of glitter was used for her last set? Was it encapsulated or gel polish?
It's a glitter mix of Crushed Pearl, Waterfall and High Tide glitters. Unfortunately, the last 2 are no longer available. It was a glitter press on top of the nail, not encapsulated.
ua-cam.com/video/tFx1k3yZM5w/v-deo.html
Should you always double primer? (No matter what primer your using!) My biggest problem is power to liquid rato, getting the apxs correct and getting the nail bed smooth! No lumbs!
Unfortunately, we can't speak on other products as we do not test them.
New to your channel guys, very impressive! Wow I cannot imagine being able to do this in an hour let alone half!!!! I'm not sure if I'm inspired or daunted haha :-)
Haha! We talk a lot about the point of this series is not to say you should go out tomorrow & be doing sets in 30 min, but more to inspire & show you tips that may be able to cut your current time by like 5 min at a time. (If you’re interested in speeding up your services of course) 👍🏽
Your work is amazing!❤❤
I've noticed you add protein bonder before applying the gel polish.
It is working if I applying primer instead?
protein bond is your primer. We also apply it on our acrylic & hard gel before gel polish or gel top coat so help prevent chipping/peeling.
Thanks
❤️❤️
Tracey getting paper
💞 🕒🕞🔥💨👀
haha yesss!
Love your videos and speed. Do you use a new dish of monomer for every client? Or pour your dish for the day? Just curious, I pour a dish for each client.
Depends on what you are doing, sometimes it gets cloudy from color or bits of glitter get in it in that case we'd change it out but just working on regular fills no need to change every time
Hi , what if a client comes after 4 weeks for a fill and we should make the apex in its exact place?
Ther's only one thing.. the speed is truly a art.. my complete respect to that! However..
As a client I think that I wouldn't go back to a salon that works that way.. I would feel myself just a money bringing person who gets kick out as fast as possible and that was it. Not 1 bit of social relaxing in it, not one bit feeling respected but a moneypit. My purse is the only interesting thing about me.. And I could even have left the words 'about me' out of the last sentence.
Understood and fair enough points, if you see the next video in this series (posted today) we actually touch on these topics and how our client has our undivided attention for their amount of time. Working faster while still creating quality product simply allows us to charge our clients fair prices instead of doubling the cost to make a reasonable living. Most clients enjoyed knowing they could get in and out quickly with quality nails because they themselves had a busy day. So where it is true some may enjoy a longer service I would leave it at that there is a clientele for everyone and technicians that specialize in services that match your needs, the point of this series is to give techs a look at ways they could be cutting down their time (if that is their goal)
@@youngnailsinc true and very fair 👌 Thank you for explaining and I completely understand it all!
Fabulous video! What glitter was used over the gel polish ? Can’t wait to see more real time videos!
flash and burn slick pour powder
I know you'll probably cover this, but, what about when then the design is embedded, which is what I mostly do? And also I use gel❤️
more videos to come for sure covering all scenarios
Thanks!
Great, this helps!
Would it be smarter to get a fill in or brand new set when you want your nails longer?
To go longer you'd probably want to do a new full set, adding length to a fill doesn't always guarantee the correct structure
Great video, lots of info to use and learn with what speed is your electric file on high or medium...definitely want to try the overhand holding method as I think it will be really helpful with fidgity clients..again great video thank you :)
prep work is done on a low setting while filing on acrylic is done at a higher medium speed
If someone wanted to change shape is that included in the fill or extra?
It may depend on the shape they are changing to. If it’s a simple change that can be done in shortening (for example going from stiletto to almond), you could include that in your rebalance price. However if it’s a completely different shape (stiletto to square), that would be an extra charge since you may have to clip off the free edge and re-sculpt to be the different shape.
Don't we have to cut the cuticle with a nipper? Is my only question otherwise I just admire this amazing speed of yours! It's awesome!!
nope, cutting the cuticle with clippers opens up opportunity to cut your client leaving them exposed to harsh chemicals during service. the bit she uses around the cuticle area is more than enough for cuticle work. if by the end of the service there is something left that needs to be cleaned up that would be the time, but most often after all the maintenance there is nothing left. especially on your return clients with regularly manicured nails.
@@youngnailsinc thank you!!
When you say you charge the for the glitter... how much is this charge generally speaking??
$5
@@youngnailsinc where I can purchase that glitter?
@@veronica3738 it's available on our website! www.youngnails.com/15g-flash-burn/
How do you know if you have the efile going fast enough or too slow?
Wow . How do you file so fast without the bit slipping around or at the tip. I get so scared to file because it always slips at the tip! I love your videos btw 😩♥️
The slipping around the tip happens when you are in contact but going the wrong direction. We don't stay in contact with the nail and move back and forth we come in contact to pull towards us then lift up then back pulling towards us again.
YoungNailsInc thank you !!! I’ll try again ☺️
How do you avoid carpal tunnel as a nail tech? I have to use a wrist brace for carpal tunnel myself, but I don’t know if I can file a client while wearing one
You need to make sure you are using the proper tools and techniques for holding your clients hands/fingers. Using an efile properly will help as well as keeping your wrists straight as you are filing. Use a combination of over and underhand grip with the efile and avoid flicking your wrist when using a hand file.
Here's a few videos that will help you with the proper techniques.
ua-cam.com/video/Q_-KUOy0YAE/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/3hp3zJypBNA/v-deo.html
Wow! Can’t wait to get there with my fills. Still at 1.5 hrs. I do have a question. Do you use a new file on every client or how do you manage that?
Yes, depending on your states regulations. In California it is law
Good to know. I don’t have a clientele yet but once I move to NM I’m hoping to after licensing in NM. For now I’m just trying to find a budget.
What bit are you using on the natural nail plate for prep? I've never see a metal bit used for nail prep before.
Medium cross cut. It's the equivalent to a medium sanding band
More like admiring you!!!
haha
What drill bit do you suggest for a left handed nail tech to use for removing gel polish?
left handed safety bit
@@youngnailsinc will it remove the gel polish as fast the course bit Tracy uses?
Safety bit info...where can I find?
Could you do a video where you do a complete rebalance and not only a backfill? How many times can you do backfills before you need a fresh new set?
A fresh set on return clients is never a necessity other than specific circumstances examples: client requests, (shape change specific look etc) ski slope nails eventually require new sets, if the client demolishes their nails between appts. etc. As long as you are maintaining the nails properly and keeping the product where needed by fills and re balancing there is no need to remove and start fresh.
And yes we do plan to do a re balance and fill video rather than a basic 2 week fill. More vids coming soon not to worry!! :)
How do you stay healthy and find time to eat in salon? here's times I dont eat cus im too busy. I ate fast food straight for months. How can you find balance?
You have to schedule it. Make yourself a priority, there are many ways to eat healthy while being booked all day, protein bars, protein shakes, hard boiled eggs, even meal prep togo services now! You may need to schedule yourself a lunch break if you are that concerned and can not find time. It's all about choices.
