I love how Nature's theme is used in LOTR:ROTK on the wide shot of the mustered army of Rohan before charging Pelennor Fields, signifying Théoden's understanding that, although, Gondor is not his realm, it is still the site of evil's latest encroachment, and that, if evil gains a foothold anywhere in the world, it has the potential to gain a foothold everywhere. The theme lets us know that Théoden has become a part of the world in its fight against evil.

Something I really like about this theme is that, personally, I've always thought it represents more than just nature. Probably my favourite moment of the soundtrack for "Battle of the Five Armies" was when this Theme appeared one last time when the Eagles showed up to crush the Orc-reinforcements.

Maybe I'm weird for thinking this, but while it appears with the ents and the moth that Gandalf speaks to, I don't feel it represents nature, but something more along the line of "reckless valor," because it shows up specifically when treebeard says "we are most likely going to our doom" and when the rohirrim are riding against a foe several times their size, and of course when theoden and his knights ride to what they would have thought as their final stand at the hornburg.

Bit late, though given the moth always seems to be a precursor for the Eagles to arrive - which themselves show direct involvement of Manwë in the situation at hand - makes me think the moth acts as a messenger between the Maia and the Valar, in this case Gandalf and Manwë directly. As for the rest, well.. Arda's resistance against encroaching evil seems likely. No matter how bad things get, they'll always continue resisting

The last march of the Ents. They didn't know if they'd be able to win against the forces of Isengard. Probably many of them lost their hopes of returning to Fangorn alive, but still they decided to do what was in their power to, at least, try to contain evil forces and the destruction of what they loved. One of the most overlooked events in LOTR. This theme can also be heard when the knights of Roahn finally arrive at the Pelennor fields. Men who left their homes to go in a foreign land to fight a greater enemy. Many of them lost their hopes too, but still wanted to die for what they loved and finally they were able to accomplished their objectives too. Very powerful.
the main pattern of nature's reclamation is played during the charge of the rohirrim because rohirrim are part of it. The whole Lotr OST is build around patterns that are played one after the other to build themes.
more than couple of years back when I listened to this again. I cried and cried, went to the terrace to touch the tree's branches and leaves, apologized for I have plucked and broken your branches, swore to destroy the people who cut down trees. I was still crying.
