timing dependent character with newr assured kills and great reach. But the sword is dependent on a continuous cutting combo to be fast and agile; if blocked or starting cold it can be a hassle.
Why would it be a better choice? Because it would make the character more in-line with an example of this type of fencer? Exceptionalism in character design isn't a flaw.
I may be wrong, but I think the developers mentioned something about Crimean Tatar fencer being added to the game in the future. Even if it isn't true, the game supports modding, so it should't really be a problem to add some Tatar reskin.

I saw some people say how they can easily get to her hands, but I have trouble. The shield is a bit finicky to get around, and there are times when I see my sword hit her hand, but it's blocked. Out of all the fencers they could've added, they added one with a shield, and it can get pretty fustrating, admittedly.
Looks great. I wonder how they managed to balance a character with a shield 🤔 If there is one thing that bothers me it's her gloves. Now, I am not en expert on female fashion, but as far as I know, gloves weren't a common thing in the Commonwealth at all. And those look like riding gloves usually made from moose skin. Sources specifically say that those types of gloves weren't worn in Poland.
They did test out shield earlier in its development in the form of a beer mug for Gideon. It worked clunkily but well enough that its relegated to a shield character
I guess it's a good thing she's not from the Commonwealth. The Kalkan is an Ottoman shield and judging by her outfit she's probably an Ottoman fencer. Ergo, it doesn't matter what was common in Poland at the time. At least half of the characters in the current game are not Polish nor dressed as Polish people of the day.
Even though gloves might not be that common in this setting, I would still suppose, it wouldn't be really a problem for her to get her hands on them, since she is a bandit leader.

I can fix her.
Shield gives her huge advantage. Maybe not as much as hussar armour but still.
She is a woman, - realism!
Nah, I cut her shield hand off all the time! Or if I'm using her, they somehow still hit my hand too!
still waiting for Gideon to get his piwo back
For some reason Gordon always aims to grab and cut off your head in history buff mode
Nice, You really heave original ideas for characters - everyone is diffrent. It will do wonders to replayability
In this approach, real history serves him well. In almost every character I see here, I recognize historical inspirations.

Yeah!!! New Character!!!
Played her a bit and man it’s so much fun. She plays so well and it’s fun, her personality and style makes it so much cooler too.
I hope we get a greatsword wielder too

Great choice of weapon and shield, but I guess a Crimean Tatar man would be a better choice.
Agree 100%

Did Crimean Tatars ever use Circassian 'Yataghans' - because that would be neat to have.

This would have been perfect for a Turkish Character which the game had been sorely lacking in
Game is focused on lands of Rzeczpospolita l, and kalkan was very often used by polish light cavalry.

Is the hungarian character of a similar style? I've been curious of that?

Our cossack really violated this shieldmaiden. Still great new character!
Does she have a grab/finishing move?
I was wondering that too, but there was no grabbing or finishing move!
Maybe the shield makes it impossible to grab🤔
