Are people too young to remember Allardyce managed a team with Jay Jay Okocha in it, where he basically roamed the pitch doing whatever he felt? Where is this "no attacking football" nonsense coming from? Is 23 goals conceded in 7 games "attacking football"? The problem isn't player quality compared to the teams around us, it is 100% lack of tactical ability by the managers, particularly in defence. It's a marginal chance we escape, but it won't be Sam's fault if we don't.
Not saying by any means it will be Sam's fault if we go down... to your other comment about allardyce, that was over a decade ago and he had much more time to coach that team. He only has a few days at Leeds so I think it will be simple and defensive
We've become football snobs, GR. It's pathetic. Even hanging over the trapdoor with four games left, folks expect us to play fabulous dreamy Bielsa football. THIS IS PANIC TIME! PRESS THE PANIC BUTTON!
Leeds go from a Watford reject Javi to a everybody reject Sam. Leeds might as well go straight to none league. I mean 16 years in the wilderness and learn nothing. What a Joke. I hope I wake up and find it's only a dream.
He doesn't play 442. You just decided he would because it's "dull". He usually plays 4141 or 4231. At Bolton it was usually 451. And he doesn't sit in a low block or play hoofball. He likes direct football but that means pass it forward not necessarily pump it down the pitch. He certainly will play out from the back. What he doesn't like is when, say, Roca picks the ball up in midfield, he turns and looks for a forward ball, and doesn't just lay it off to a defender, which is what we've been doing. He likes a long ball but so does Eddie Howe, for instance. I usually like your videos but this just isn't how Sam plays. Particularly not the 442. And his football tends to be aggressive and attacking, not defensive. So no.
The thing is I couldn't do every formation he might use in the video I just wanted to get across the key principles he will employ. He could well play other formations but he only has 4 games and not much time to prep for them so I think he will very much go back to basics!
@@LeedsLately I think he'll stick with something like we already play. It suits his style. Although I hope he switches out McKennie for Forshaw, at least.
Agree with everything. However, there are other straws to grasp at. The players clearly weren't working hard under Gracia. Big Sam won't tolerate that. Then you throw in a new manager bounce. Im not saying it will keep us up but we might at least go down fighting instead of going down with a whimper.
I hope this works, I doubt it though. I can see those long balls that the CB’s ping forward going right back to Man City and the pressure being unrelenting and just too much Leeds United. Would love to be wrong on this. Great stuff Max, as always!
It’s not that scientific. And modern football from the likes of Man City will destroy us. The players aren’t confident the majority are not good enough either. Play stupid games, ie the sacking festival, and you get stupid rewards. This system is going to make Leeds look even more non plused
He was pretty straight forward with his views at the press conference, I'm actually looking forward to the game against City I think there coming out fighting this time

We are at our best going forward, and a strong back line is not really where we are going to be winning games, just as you said, i dont see this working..
@Leeds Lately well I don't know what else he's there for, but I know we need something. The Palace game 1st half was the first time I thought we looked like a complete Premiership team with quality. We're so lazy and always out of position with no passion or fight. None of them can really say they're Leeds through and through or know the true meaning 🤔 of what it is. I think 🤔 we need to devise a book of rules of how to become a true Leeds player and every player and manager plus coaching staff should be given one when they're employed.
I don't see us staying up, Big Sam without Sammy Lee isn't encouraging, but whoever was in charge we need AT LEAST 4 points in these last 4 games which seems unlikely, and even that's probably not enough . HOWEVER, Orta leaving does give me hope for the future. We need to get in a proper DoF, with a proper vision for the club and who understands the city. We have some fantastic youth talents, who could thrive in the Championship under a smart manager, so long as we then supplement that with 2 or 3 ESTABLISHED signings, recognizable names.
Yes all this is great but you're missing something. If any of our players take a crap corner or freekick then he's liable to headbutt them after the match. As you know, Sam's head is enormous. Therefore, psychologically, we're going to improve on set pieces. Also, nobody has tried this strategy since 1923 so it may catch our opponents off guard. If we do find ourselves in trouble with half an hour left then we could put Struijk up front with Cooper and Meslier and tell them to get on the end of it! With all that in mind, I think we stay up mate 🙂
