    Don’t forget that the brain uses up ketones as well as the body! Dare I suggest that Dr Becky ‘s slightly lower than usual morning reading was due to her superior level of input when the crossword was being conducted the night before?

      I would say so, there meny other youtubers who discuss this and they do seem to be in agreement that ketones are a more efficient fuel source than carbs. When compared to burning glucose, Ketones generate more ATP than glucose, which is the energy currancy of the human body. Also when it comes to exercise the more intense it is the more dependent the body becomes on glucose (although you can still be burning fat in the process), but the lower intensity types of exercises they tend to be more dependent on fat as a fuel source.

  • @drerinwhite8511

    It makes sense that your ketones decreased after exercise since you used ketones for energy during your workout. They will increase once you eat .

    I use Keto Mojo and never compared meters but I find Ketone results consistent but Glucose results can vary widely. Like today: Glucose reads 114 then 5 min later or as long as it takes to open the foil pkgs it reads 95 ~ Ketones 1.0 and 1.1. ~ this was late AM before eating and typical of that time. ~ Usually gets better during the day. Either my glucose radically changes or there is a meter accuracy issue. I am confused. 🤔

    Well Keto Mojo sold me a meter a week before changing the strips which forced me to have to go through the trouble of sending in the one I just bought, just so I could get the new one to use with the new strips, since they weren’t selling them anymore. So both went in the trash. A waste of money, but worth it not to support a crappy company. Try getting a hold of their customer service 🤣

    • @tomfilbey
      @tomfilbey 3 роки тому +1

      So you are upset because Keto Mojo lowered the price of their keto sticks by 20 percent. And they are basically giving away their new meter if the Keto Promo Bundle is purchased. (The kit come with 70 ketone sticks and 70 glucose sticks. [buying these as old strips would cost $90.29.] {cost of the Keto Promo Bundle which also includes the new meter, lancing device and 20 lancets is $90.99}). Remember the future cost of the new sticks is 20 percent lower. The old strips are still available for purchase but why would you. This is a terrific company, driving down the cost of their product by 20 percent. I'm not upset about having to get a new meter, I'm elated.

    • @mynala110
      @mynala110 3 роки тому

      @@tomfilbey ok. Not quite sure how to respond here....I would have to send in the old meter to get the new one. The old strips are not available on Amazon. The customer service experience has been horrible. And it is not a terrific company. And good for you liking to jump through hoops to get a product that works.

    • @tomfilbey
      @tomfilbey 3 роки тому +1

      @@mynala110 I admit when I first saw they were moving to new strips, I initially felt some irritation. Then I did the math (as explained in my previous reply) and realized just purchasing the new meter through the Keto Promo Bundle I was no worse off. In fact, I was in a better position because I could purchase sticks at a 20 percent discount in the future. For me, I can buy sticks just as easily from the Keto Mojo website as I can from Amazon. As for sending in the old meter in to get a new one, why bother? I just bought the new one with the Keto Promo Bundle. Let me explain my reasoning. I realized if I continued to use the old meter and bought old sticks, as soon as I bought 71 old ketone sticks and 71 old glucose sticks I'd be worse off so, to me, there was no reason to do anything else but get the new meter. Everybody always complains how expensive the ketone sticks are. Now we have a company lowering the cost by 20 percent and people are mad. It must just be the way I think because I think it is a great thing. BTW, What do you want customer service to do for you? I hope I haven't offended you. It's just I don't understand your position.

  • @paulg687
    @paulg687 3 роки тому

    I often think people get hung up on numbers, trying to hit some target magic figure. That being said, if you are struggling to get your ketones up above 0.5 or whatever, from my experience, if you do a prolonged water only fast of say 4+days, your ketones will eventually got up to around 7. After this, again from my experience, the body switches to fat burning easier and quicker and your average ketones get above 1 quite easily. Just make sure you come off the 4+ days fast the right way because it’s more harmful if you don’t do it right.

    I would like to see more information on glucose levels while following keto, I have seen many videos address high glucose levels and how to lower them but not finding information on when you have low glucose numbers, what's too low, is there a too low and is it even a concern. I tried to do a 36 hour fast after eating OMAD for months and doing keto for years but my glucose level dropped to 45, ketones were 3.8 so I broke my fast and ate not knowing if I should be concerned or not. I have felt so fatigued and tired, also having stomach issues and just can't seem to get back to my normal of feeling great with lots of energy as I have always felt doing keto.

I don't have a weight scale because I would be on it like furniture and would be disappointed if it hadn't move. Pretty much the same for a tape measure. I cannot afford a ketone meter yet.
