Got one of these off a job site 20years ago. Mixed many a bucket of mortar and concrete. It finally gave out but I think it's the capacitor. Already replaced the chord and the brushes are still half. Buzz/hum but wont turn.
Pull off the gearbox and make sure the motor spins by hand freely it could be a seized rear motor bearing or something jamming the gearbox (make sure you can turn the chuck and it will spin. also closely look at the wires sometimes they get jammed on top of each other in the4 handle and can short out. hopefully it is not a burned up motor
Interesting comparison of the gears in this triple-reduction gear set vs. the DeWalt DW235 that you recently posted. I had never thought about the progressive thickness of the gears.
Hi do you know how the bottom switch work? I need to wire one of those but dont have the bottom part of the drill, just the four wires coming out of the drill yellow, black, red and white
Really enjoy seeing you clean and refurbish your tools Catus ole boy!!! You obviously have a sentimental attachment to those wire strippers!! And those diagonals were not some of the best in your collection.!!! As usual i learned something from you buddy. Thank you!!!
I have 1650-1 half inch heavy duty super hole shooter and was going to replace the grease --being older the grease is packed like yours but is blackish brown and runny. I am going to change the grease in the gearbox what type and weight should I use?
So I have one of these and repaired the cable just the way you did. Prior to repair it was not turning on after the repair, still does not turn on. What could it be? Bushings seem in good condition as well.
Yeah the grease inside the gearbox of my hole hawg smelled like s***, could use paint but wasnt dropped in saw dust like yours thanks for the video catus
Liked the video. The thing I always seem to do is to solder the wires together before I put the shrink tubing on. Sometimes I even crimp them together before putting the tubing on. Jeez, you would think after so many times of the same screw up. :)

I wish Milwaukee would come back to Wisconsin.
Nice video. My 0244-1, purchased in 1986 or 1987, waves and says hello. 🎉
👍👍👍
Outstanding.

Howdy, Catman! Your effort to save and extend the life of this precious 1/2" Shooter is honorable. Nice find! Keeper!
Excellent video. Thanks.
Thank you!
What are those ¿duckbill? assembly pliers?

Ok, we looked into the inside of a drill. DUH !

Make sure all the wires are fully pushed into their little holes. Also, the reverse switch can give you trouble,

thanks for the video catus
Those pliers are referred to as duckbills. Great review as always, Catus.
Much Appreciated!
@@CatusMaximus , use a tape measure to solve the equation.
Then you will understand the equation
Potato.
I remember using these when I first started out I absolutely love them and the whole Hogs.
wouldn't it be worth it to replenish the grease if it's gotten dried out or dirty?
Easy fix. Just order new cords on Amazon. You don’t clean the motor with contact cleaner?
