Yeah, they ARE some funny birds for sure! They're so mischievous, kind of like how cats are. And, of course, just they look funny with those red heads equipped with those heavy black feather flakk jackets they weay year round
I think so, yes. I have a group of wild Turkey Vultures that come by my house everyday (their roost is about 1/2 mile into the woods behind my house by the river back there) and they always stop around me.... yesterday I had about 17 of them circling me VERY CLOSE as I was sitting on my back porch! It's amazing to have those big birds circle you only 50 feet above you in the air!! Awe-inspiring feeling!!!! Then today, one came back and perched on my porch looking for me. They are such curious birds, and super sweet if you earn their trust... they've never attacked me or anything. Their kinda like a dog, they just keep coming back, looking for food, looking for some attention if you won't hurt them. :) The key is be very still and quiet, if you talk a lot or make sudden movements, they will get scared and fly back. Good luck. :)
Yes absolutely near my home there is an animal center place thing called Maymont and they have two black and they are the sweetest little baby’s (babys that are year older then me) vultures are actually very nice people give them a bad wrap
They are super gentle birds and they move away from the road when cars are coming towards them and they move in little packs it seems and they look like they don’t mind sharing.
Did not know they were federally protected. That's good to know. They're all over the place here and I wish I knew that when we were fighting a commercial project next door that wanted to change the zoning. In all my research I've never seen them listed. That's in the past but more importantly what do they sound like. Today I heard and saw what I thought was the largest Crow ever maybe it wasn't.
@@philiproe1661 Good news. But how do they avoid the biggest problem for condors, lead shot fragments. They eat the same food no? Carrion of all sorts.
One time when I was like 9 or 10 this bird keeper brought a turkey vulture to our school and a couple other birds. The turkey vulture tried to fly on my head and I freaked out and started crying, they said it tried to fly on me because I was quiet. I don't like these birds now
Beautiful birds! Turkey vultures are my favorites.
Mine too! Such magnificant birds. They also make me laugh just from looking at them. I love tbe turkey vulture

Guess it would freak out the neighbors if I started gathering roadkill and leaving it out for the vultures.
One of the only birds that can raise its wings above its shoulders. Very cool.
Uniquely beautiful
My FAVORITE!! I've seen Bald Eagle, Caracara, & Turkey Buzzard eat Together. Cool ~
Is it possible to befriend them like people do with crows?

What's the song?
Right now I have a Turkey vulture so close to me
Including lead bullet fragments and micro trash?
Are the turkey vultures endangered also like the Condors?
Not at all. I see them near where I live all the time.

If they have an important place in the ecosystem, why does my town shoot sound gun like things at them to scare them away?
