Very exited! thank you for the video! You expect other minor releases to follow this one? or will we have to wait until the Gollum movies a couple of years out?
I am crossing my fingers and hoping that GW follow this up with a staggered set of updates and releases for updated plastic kits. At the very least, we'll get new sourcebooks. Crossed fingers but I think we could be on for a good year next year in 2025.
Interesting how closely they mirrored the original rohan sculpts, from the poses to the 888 split between the different weapons. Seeks like the tribesman are more customisable. I wonder what the design philosophy was with those choices.
Yeah it's kinda a nice touch. I imagine maybe they did it so that they would mix in better with the existing miniatures you have in your collection. Whereas the Tribesmen can be new and slot in well enough regardless.
Plastic Royal guard would be amazing. Overall current plastic troops still hold up with the exception of TLA. Plastic elite units would solve one of MESBG's biggest problems, elite units either being to expensive to collect or not available to buy.
224 pages in the current rulebook. I would imagine they might have tweaked scenarios would be my bet, and the hobby/painting showcase bit perhaps. They might have also streamlined rules segments but we shall have to wait and see.
My god new warriors of rohan. Its been 84 years. I remember seeing that kit for the first time as a kid. At this point ill be sad to see it be replaced.
Hi Ben. I won’t be picking these up as I’m sticking with original LotR. Do these look a little bigger than the Perry sculptures. Slight GW scale creep ??
It's hard to tell but if they're similar to the new plastic characters we've seen the scale should be about the same. A little bit bigger proportionally in the main but generally they should fit in. We shall have to see when the set lands!
New minis look awesome, pity no standard Rohan cavalry yet. I really wish GW would make their new plastic more flexible. Why not add extra head choices, weapon choices and flexible arm placements, so weapons can be held at different angles, fof a large army having just a few poses is boring. GW should look at proxy minis, like Victrix where you can make a large unit and every mini is different. In my opinion some 3d prints out there already are far superior to the standard new minis. I think the wild men minis will be more popular than rehashed 20 year old Rohan infantry...
I think the new Warriors are as they are so that they "match" with what other folks already have in their collection pose-wise. You're not wrong though as there are lots of good 3rd party creators out there doing stunning miniatures.
I love the new warriors of Rohan and also the tribesemn. Targg looks cool too, but I hope to get more hype about his character when watching the new movie.
Yeah it will be fascinating seeing what the movie does with the characters and how that (plus the established background for some of them) influences the scenarios and profiles on the tabletop.
Not the most exciting starter box MESBG has ever seen, and it seems a bit blasphemous to have a rohan themed box without any units of cavalry, but the new models all look very nice, and I like the Rohan style houses, so I really can't complain. The renewed focus on recreating scenes from movie and tv shows and away from book content that never saw a screen is a bit worrying to me though. I've been hoping for a plastic kit for black numenoreans / kingsmen since basically forever, and a return of the 'Minas Morgul' army from the old LotRSBG Mordor supplement mixing mordor stuff (black numenoreans, orcs, nazgul) and angmar stuff (mostly dead marsh specters, though by all rights they should be a mordor unit to begin with, we meet them in the books and movies outside of mordor, they're supposed to be the dead from the last alliance battle against sauron, I don't know how they got so badly displaced in space and time in the sbg that they not only ended up in Angmar but /exclusively/ so). Maybe also add some human sorcerers who came to Minas Morgul to learn from the Witch King or even the Mouth of Sauron since that's a probably origin for him plus his rules are a good stand in for anyone who interpreted Gothmog as a Black Numenorean rather than an orc. Basically an army representing the Witch King's forces after he had destroyed Arnor & been driven out of Angmar, and had returned to Mordor to refocus his attentions on Gondor. At this point though it seems more likely that both black numenoreans and morgul knights will be dropped from the game altogether due to the lack of any screen adaptation appearances, and the only Minas Morgul army we'll get is the all orcs version under Jackson's interpretation of Gothmog.
Yeah - GW mentioned that they were going to be removing certain miniatures from the range with the new edition and, sadly, I would imagine that a lot of the stuff that was side projects and hinted at in the range (like what you mention here) will end up getting shelves. I guess we shall have to see what the GW team has a timeline for the new edition once this comes out. This could be a good starting point for a lot of good updates.
Whilst a lot of folks aren't happy with Rings Of Power, I'd love to see them do something tied into it. I think some of the characters would be great to see in miniature form.
I don't think the cartoon is going to be garbage but we shall see when it hits cinemas. Also, I think that there will be a Hera miniature and it's going to be either in Forge World Resin (like some of the other characters we've seen) or it will be a separate multi-part plastic kit.
Very excited for this, particularly new troops in plastic!
Here here! The new plastics look amazing!
very exciting it is something different and cool they mentioned how to tie-in the Tribesmen troops to the trilogy for those who prefer.
Yeah that's a good nod - nice way to open it up to those looking beyond this boxed set
I like this as a starter. Perfect size armies to keep together to teach people. Cant wait to preorder this when it drops.
For sure - it does look like a solid starting point in terms of models and terrain for those early games.
Great video.. im so ready for this new game
Yeah I will be snapping it up!
Looks like a decent place to start in Middle earth.
Yeah seems a manageable "starter" although will be interesting to see if it's limited run
All gorgeous sculpts, but with two houses in the box I do wonder how much this is going to cost.
I would assume somewhere around the same cost as Osgiliath although that had a lot more inside it - but, could keep the cost pushed up

Love to see the middle earth game is getting some love, but I'm still heavily disapointed at how barren it remains nowadays.
My hope is that this is going to be the start of some bigger updates down the line!

Gorgeous minis. Hoping this means we are getting new Rohan cavalry too
I would hope so! The dream scenario would be them slowly working through and updating all the core infantry/cavalry for the various main factions.
Plastic Royal guard would be amazing. Overall current plastic troops still hold up with the exception of TLA.
Plastic elite units would solve one of MESBG's biggest problems, elite units either being to expensive to collect or not available to buy.
@@DMKA94 very true!
I’d be suprised if they didn’t release new riders too. I mean. That’s the icon of rohan
@@jessepatten8697 Good chance that if it's in the movie, it'll get a new model
The tribesmen look ace 😍
Yeah they look super cool!
The new rulebook is only 176 pages? Isn't that mush shorter then the current?
224 pages in the current rulebook. I would imagine they might have tweaked scenarios would be my bet, and the hobby/painting showcase bit perhaps. They might have also streamlined rules segments but we shall have to wait and see.
Scenarios and profiles book is 48 pages
wow did not know they had a LOTR anime on the way. The action looks cool.
Yeah it looks like it could be a lot of fun!
It's going to be rubbish
Girl boss bullshit
My god new warriors of rohan. Its been 84 years. I remember seeing that kit for the first time as a kid. At this point ill be sad to see it be replaced.
Renewed is the kit that was standard!
I was wondering what they were going to do with this set.
A fun Sunday reveal!
The proper name for the horse armour is curtains
If only I'd remembered the teachings of Gerry
@BecauseOfDragons well the teachings of Pratchett maybe

The wildmen of Dunland were metal.
Ah yes - knew I was right!
General Targg...very Highlander the Anime badguy
Hah yes!
What scale? 25mm, 28mm?
28mm but it will still be in the "true" proportions of the rest of the Middle-earth range
Depends on the price. Osgiliath was an amazing starter, if this costs more and you get less terrain then… nope.
You'd have to imagine this would be around the same price or cheaper but we'll have to wait and see. Fingers crossed!
@@BecauseOfDragons never seen GW often go the cheaper route… so if even the same price, it’s not as good of a deal at all. :(
Zero interest having invested in the previous edition... oh well
Can always use the new plastic warriors with the old rules. No need to update if you already have the rules etc
Apart from the new minis I think my favourite thing is the implication - MESBG isn't dead. Far from it.
Fingers crossed for some great new stuff coming down the line for MESBG!
Only 5 easy payments of $89.99

What took you so long to do this video? I was wondering if you fell into a coma after the announcement XD
I went as fast as I could haha
As I always comment, I want to know how these scale to say Viktrix plastics or oathmark plastics.
Shall have to do a comparison when the new set lands. The current plastics are smaller by a tad I reckon
