- At least one person was injured after being hit by a firework during a Stadium of Fire performance on the Fourth of July.

About 15 years ago, several family members and I attended the Stadium of Fire event. I was sitting on the west side at the south end of the stadium at about the 15- or 20-yard line and about 20 or 30 rows up. During the show, a piece of firework debris landed on my head or shoulder. It looked like a piece of plywood about 3 inches in diameter and 3/8 inch thick. It hurt a bit--no blood. I've never been back. I hate fireworks smoke and campfire smoke!
It looked like beautiful seaweed until it went sideways. What a shame. Prayers for a quick recovery to everyone injured!
A stadium packed with people watching EXPLOSIVES. What could go wrong?
I was in the north side of the stadium, it was shocking to see the fireworks hit the cheerleaders as well, one was taken away to get bandaged but came back to do her routine.
All of the news stories and videos I've seen have left out mentioning that girl. I was a dancer down on the field a few girls down from her, it was so scary. I was so glad to see her come back and be able to dance.
@@noxiemoondragon6524 I’m so sorry this happened to you and to the other young lady and everyone I hope that you all will be ok
i was a section over from the hit and i saw the firework in the conner of my eye next thing you know everyone was screaming
They should have a designated screamer. 😁
Why shoot off fireworks in the daytime 🥴. Not that it would have made a difference, just curious. Hope the injured heal fast!
Looks like it's Dusk to be fair
@@Yophillips3272 Ummmmm, no. The sun is stilling shining in parts of the stadium. That’s not dusk.
@rickylee4228 I don't know man ok Twilight then.
@rickylee4228 there isn't a law saying fireworks can only be set off during nighttime ya doofus
@@rickylee4228 I think it's just to keep people's ohhs & ahhs going for the flyover. Not a terribly smart idea obviously & too close to the jets if there is a mishap. I know the jets had passed the stadium, but it's sketchy. They wait to do the majority of the fireworks at 9:30ish I think.
There's always atleast one story like this every 4th of July holiday. Good luck to the victims.
“ we need to ban personal sales and displays of fireworks and leave it to the professionals who know exactly what they’re doing” 😂😂😂
The trend is towards drone displays. They're excellent!

So sorry to hear people were hurt. This happened to my grandmother in her early years and messed up her hip for the rest of her life. In her case the firework went straight into the crowd.
Hoping all heal quickly.🤔
That's a serious injury. I hope she still doing well.
About 2 decades ago a young man in his 20s was struck by fireworks that malfunctioned, here in town. He lost his life. They named the park after him. We knew his mother from her hair salon. She was never the same after that.
That's not where I thought you where going to say the firework went straight into.
@ Nezisglp thank you for the kind words, however, this happened a very long time ago. It is likely that her injuries were made worse as the medical practice at that time, probably was'nt too far away from still using leeches.😜
Lawsuits everywhere.
Fireworks INSIDE an enclosed stadium. Obviously safety WAS NOT their priority.
its not enclosed, theres no roof. fireworks are shot at like every football or baseball stadium.
This stadium is outdoors
"Leave the fireworks to the professionals" they said, it'll be fun they said
In 2018 my brother, his wife, 2 step daughters and step son were all burned by a firework mortar. Their grandson was in the direct path of that mortar but my sister in law shielded him with her body and got badly injured. 2 of them required skin grafts. One had an open wound where the mortar exploded after it hit my niece’s abdomen and bounced off. It was horrific.
I understand accents can happen and this being a pretty serious accident can happen, but if safety was of the utmost importance they should have canceled all the fireworks after that happened instead of starting up 20 minutes later.
my thought exactly... if they got everything from the same company... it was a manufacturing issue or an issue of how they were set up... until you figure it out, you shut it down... and the larger ones were still due to be shot... if one of those malfunctioned it would have taken out dozens of people...
@loa1531 Exactly. They could have brought bands back onstage for entertainment. It kinda shows a callous disregard for the already injured and since it honestly could have been entirely a faulty fireworks malfunction but still they had no idea if it would happen again from more faulty fireworks. And a callous disregard for the safety of the rest. Zeroes just keep adding on to those lawsuit checks I think.
I have a serious accent.
The Show Must Go On !
sure looked odd for an accident to me, 4 rockets shot from 4 diff directions in 4 diff directions but appeared that all 4 hit a crowded area. looks to me that they hit their targets, what a shame.
If the Stadium of Fire would let the fireworks be fired higher instead of trying to keep them inside the stadium, this wouldn’t be an issue.
A friend of mine was at a similar event 5 years ago when a firework hit him and blew his head off. Dude was in the hospital like a monff before returning to work.
I was one of the dancers down on the field and was a few girls down from a girl that was nearly hit. A firework hit the ground behind her and she had jumped out of the way, but she had a small burn on the back of her arm and on her leg. She had a panic attack after all of us dancers were taken off the field and she was taken care of after being in a bit of shock. I'm so glad she was okay, that could have hit her directly and been a lot worse. I'm so sorry for the people that did get hit in the audience, this was my sixth year dancing at Stadium of Fire and my director's twelfth year, and she said nothing like this has ever happened that we've seen. Safety is their priority, but I'm not even sure how those fireworks were directed towards the audience and west side dancers.
I’m so sorry this happened to you all and your all ok I’m starting to wonder if someone tampered with it or if it malfunction or if it was a person error
@@MaryHernandezclaw Yeah, I'm not sure how that happened. It kinda made me sad to hear that people were mocking their safety checks and leaving before the final firework show of the night. But I'm glad all of us dancers were okay.
Fireworks during the day? Cmon utah get it together
I was there and it was past 8:30 pm. That short firework show was to emphasize the jet flyover. The main firework show wasn’t until 10:30 pm
That's why I don't like sitting too close during my town's firework show we have yearly. Last year, some of the debris hit me in the arm, because we were right across the street from the courthouse where it takes place.
Anyone else noticing normal things that have always been safe and reliable seem to be malfunctioning at an alarming rate. It's like people getting hired to do things that involve others safety just don't care and are not qualified.
Make America GREAT Again ...
🤣
SHOCK and AWE, baby!
My thing is why are the firworks set up where they are at? They need to be out of the stadium.
They jam you into a stadium and shoot fireworks at you, what's dangerous about that?
We were one East side and obviously completely oblivious… we didn’t know anything happened until we got home… we knew SOMETHING happened, but had no clue what,
I was on the west side and I watched the girl on that side get hit thankfully she was ok but I feel bad for the girl that got injured
I’m pretty shocked they continued knowing they had a situation where they knew they either had faulty fireworks, or a faulty person that set them up, people have already been seriously injured, but they chose to continue setting off fireworks in those circumstances?!
The show must go on.
They continued because a lot of money was put into it
Karma on them all for not listening to the BYU professor about why fireworks are bad for your health.
BYU should have prayed about it first before having the show.
The downdraft from the jets probably pushed the fireworks down
I got video of it buzzing my head in the east section and it hurt some people 2 rows behind me. The sound is crazy it makes as it zips by me.

Did ya duck?
Lighting fireworks in the middle of a stadium. What could go wrong ?
Wow, Utahns can't even wrangle FIREWORKS. 👍
Why would they continue on with the fireworks. How did they know the rest of the fireworks were not faulty also. I would have left the stadium and demanded my money back. No way I would have stayed there after that.
It happened years ago in Simi. People freaked out. Some were hit. I wasn't there.
Happens every year.
interesting... they had several malfunctions and yet they decided to go on with the show... The Show Must Go On... were all those pyrotechnics from the same manufacturer?... if some were defective, might not others be? or were they a specific type that were not in the rest of the show?... and who's going to take responsibility?... maybe the technician mounted them incorrectly?
i doubt they did more fireworks inside the stadium haha
I was there. There were no more pre-show fireworks, but they still did post-show fireworks. At one point during post show, the stands where they set off fireworks from caught fire, but thankfully it went out on its own. My husband and I left before the post show ended because we were very uneasy and the fireworks were very low.
I had a panic attack during this. Actually after it, when I realized what happened.
Man it looks like those were salutes that went into the audience... Those people got lucky.
Stadium of Fire, indeed. 😢😮
You know it’s the fourth when you get peppered by firework shrapnel. First one was when I was 6 years old or so
We hate fireworks...
Who's we?
stay at home then...
Wow they continued the show after that?
Gordon B. Hinkley's fault 100%
That's terrible. I hope they get better right away.
side effect of product made in china
When are idiots going to learn that fireworks are dangerous and actually should be banned 😂
These are professionals moron
Then don’t go to fireworks shows.
OK Grandpa
Let’s get you some Metamucil and get you in bed
It’s been a long day 😂
they should ban WAR also... and Car Accidents... swimming is also dangerous... I'm guess you didn't know that more people die from choking on food each year...
Drones are the future but they have potential problems as well.
lawsuits !! The company that ran the fireworks decided to save money on zipties, and not recheck their cannons.
Leave it to the professionals they say
Next we will be signing written consent forms to look up at the sky.
Now that you have a NHL Team. There is no need to have any Faceoffs until the season starts!!!!
One hit the ground next to me and that was loud
we don't even know what the injuries are up to this point a day later, I wish they would update people, can you imagine the families of the wounded.
I know and that is very bad
You can't blame DEI😂
Fireworks are stupid
In Sevastopol 4 died,155 inured from the rocket, produced by usa
Thanks for posting this. I was thinking about Gaza. I guess "accidents" like this are bound to happen when you are celebrating war.
Say cat you sound like a real genius.
Produced in China imported to USA and shipped from there.
That not accident not properly attached glue
What are you implying? Homeland Security matter?
Bet that hurt
Hahahah yeah fireworks do that
Did that remind anyone of months and years of rockets red glare at another little spot in the world but there they get the boom at the landing there's been none of the former here best not temp fate .
no
They do this on purpose
@@katjay3125 why do you think that?

None of my fireworks hurt anymore and I'm not a professional. What's up with that?

Too bad you can sue
Hope the peeps are ok…and realize Sh t happens in fireworks and don’t sue the crap out of them and ruin such a spectacular thing for everyone 🤷♂️
It's time has come and gone. I've always questioned the fascination with explosions and pyrotechnics. That said I don't believe they're ever going away.

Wow
Like like like like where is this, Bangladesh? People dont know how to speak english there?
Just saying there are better choices for the job. What is with America and letting the Geriatrics run the show. I have to live with decisions made by people who will never live to see them play out.
Preach!
Everyone has to try and live with the decisions of the corrupt and completely baught members of the supreme court.
They must not have been wearing their Magic Underwear, would've protected them.
Is that the same brand that the Israeli Diaper Force wears?
Letting Gordon B Hinkley run the fireworks show maybe wasn't the best idea.
