Nice setup! Have you thought about or tried to add a primer bulb on the hose that would be dropped in the lake/river to prime the pump?

I haven't thought of that, using 1 inch hose.
.didn't think there was a primer ball that big. I guess you could reduce the larger hose down and use one for like a marine gas tank..wonder if that would provide enough water.

    Nice design! looks familiar.

This is great!! Would it be better to leave one valve open before opening the 2nd valve so you reduce running the pump dry? Then close the first valve, especially if you lose the prime?

Thanks....I have yet to lose the prime while running. Only needs priming at start up.

I purchased the pump and extra strainer from Amazon, the rest of the plumbing and bucket from Lowes. I will update the description of the video to include the parts list and links to the parts.

What type of prime should we use since its hard to open the transom door and get the hose filled with saltwater

    • @residentdawgfishing5424

I use a water bottle to fill the hose before submerging it. It just has to be a "closed" system with no, or very little air in the system. hope this helps.

Where did you buy your lid? Could you post the parts and where you bought them? Thank You.

The lid was purchased at Wal-Mart, part of a Mr. bubbles aeration pack for 5 gallon buckets. The Tsunami pump and extra drain fitting with screen was purchased off Amazon. The rest of the plumbing, threaded PVC fittings, ball valves, tubing, and plastic fittings where the tubing attaches were purchased at Lowes.
Hope this helps, let me know if you need more specific information, ill have to take a trip back to Lowes to get exact fitting sizes that I used.

how do you prime the well water hose to get the hose filled up?

    • @residentdawgfishing5424
      @residentdawgfishing5424  3 роки тому +1

The intake hose needs to be full of water. I use a water bottle to fill it, place thumb over end so it does not leak out and place in the bay, river, ocean, what have you. It is a pain, had I know that issue with it I would have used a better pump, but this is a budget build. Hope this helps.

@@residentdawgfishing5424 thank you! From the list, I see only one strainer but you have 2 right? The bottom one for the intake hose uses the same strainer as the one top right?

@@stephaniedoan7114 yes, two strainers, one comes with the pump, the one listed is the the thru hull fitting, both same size.

@@residentdawgfishing5424 I see, thank you. One more question please. Foe the valve, is it socket or threaded? There are 2 kinds at Lowe’s. The link you have is socket but if we connect to the barbed fitting will need to be threaded. Sorry to ask you so many questions. I have watched so many videos but yours is the best and i would like to do like yours. Thank you so much!

@@stephaniedoan7114 threaded, the barb fitting for the hose is threaded on the end that goes into the ball valve.

@@residentdawgfishing5424 yeah I agree it gets the job done. I wasn't saying its a bad setup or didn't work I was basically saying there's a lot of other ways you can keep your bait alive without having to tote around a big battery and a bucket with a pump and a bunch of hoses sticking out .. all and all good job though like u said it gets the job done ..
