All great tips! Each month I take an eFree weekend, no devices at all. I go all out analog with books and newspapers. No phone calls, no streaming, no UA-cam - it is amazing! For about 6 years, I’ve practiced the daily ritual of “opening the house” for the day. All the things I have to do but done in a sequence with some music in the background. Even in a hotel room I can follow this and no matter how busy my day gets I’ve started it the way I want. It looks like this: get up, walk the dog, come back in and make the coffee, tidy the kitchen while it brews, make the bed while the coffee cools, sit at my desk and write my daily page including space where I write answers to these questions/statements: “today I feel....., why do I feel this way...., action to take to move my life forward in a positive way......, today I am grateful for..... Once all that is done, I strike a singing bowl 3 times and sit quietly until the sound fades. Slow living can be done, even now. Vera, you bring a lovely energy to the Internet, thank you.
As a mother and grandmother I have learned that children need to be bored. It encourages creativity. Adults can learn a lesson from our youngest teachers.
I embrace the joy of missing out and somehow never get bored. In fact I love doing nothing. My biggest challenge has been to "justify" or explain myself to people who don't get my philosophy and actually feel they have the right to criticize me for having free time with no plans and that I should do more just because I could. I have time to do nothing because I've made time for it by working less and minimizing my spending habits. I believe time is the most precious thing we have.
... but those ppl who criticize you for that are also very far themselves from JOMO or even wanting to slow down. Remember they are only preaching from what they understand, and want themselves. I hate critics too, lol. You don't have any pressure to explain anything to anyone. Do you, and ask the motives of Why ppl ask what they ask. An honest person will be stopped in their tracks by that, and someone who isn't stopped by that, well, they shouldn't be criticizing if so dishonest themselves
I love that you mentioned dust in the sunshine! It has always been a magical thing for me since I was a little child. Now I try to stop and enjoy the way light bounces off the sink and glasses through my kitchen window. Sometimes we even get rainbows from this!
Honestly the best thing I did for peace of mind and daily tranquility, I ditched social media 4 years ago. It's the most freeing experience. It's such a toxic timewaster. I also don't watch the news at all and limit television watching. I'm living my own life happily not distracted by negative influences. It may be hard but it's so worth it.
QK, I ditched Instagram and Twitter earlier this year. I'm having trouble leaving Facebook because of all the history I have stored there. How did you handle that? I'd love some tips.
@@MyFocusVaries Hi Candace! All I really did was save any photos I didn't have and wanted to keep. As for posts and history, although there was alot there, for me, it didn't matter. Alot of ancient philosophers say that "the past doesn't matter, the future hasn't happened and all we have is the present. You are at peace if you live in the present." I've recently changed my goal to living more simply, rather than focusing on minimalism, which is definitely a part of living simply but I prefer the focus on simplicity rather than minimalism. Your videos are so helpful in thinking about ways to focus on simple living. Thank you!
An afternoon nap of half an hour using my alarm to wake me up in half an hour that's it. I read a minimalist book by a Zen monk who said that going to the bathroom was a special time for monks because it was their only time alone. They would fold the toilet paper end into a triangle after using their paper so every time someone used the facility, the end of the roll was folded into a neat triangle. What a wonderful video it was truly a gift. I have been trying to be more present in my conversations and tasks. Doing small things with intentionality!
I like to slow down by meditating or taking a hot bath with epsom salt, bubbles and a bath-bomb I also love to get outside and walk with my dog and family. In the warmer months hiking is a favourite thing to do as well as biking. :)
Hi. Vera... Thanks a lot for useful tips... Slow living can show you exactly who you are, where are you going, what is your priorities and happiness etc... I just want to say... Instead of saying I M BUSY... say I M EASY.... 👍
Great video again, Vera 😊 I often slow down by playing Animal Crossing on my switch - it's not a fast game and almost forces you to wait or take your time and think about the decisions you're making. I also try to stay away from screens for 60min a day and take that time to read a book or fill in my bullet journal :)
My daily routine that I turn into daily ritual is taking my dogs for a walk.. without smartphone. I can focus myself to just enjoy our time, smiling and laughing over my silly dogs :) And of course FOMO... having less social media helps. Closing my twitter dan facebook account were the best decision I did.
You are an inspirational beautiful soul Vera 😇 🌷 Ps. Your 'new' hairstyle, which you described earlier as your original one, looks fantastic! Plus your makeup is always so great, pure, natural, feminine, perfectly balanced. Perhaps you could show once how you do it, as a 'mindful makeup' session? 😉

Yes! :) Thanks for sharing Gabrielle
Thank you so much for this video! So many great tips. Slow living is something I want to embrace more in the future and I will definitely follow your tips ;)
So happy to hear that, thank you Anna! :) Have a lovely day
What a wonderful video it was truly a gift. I have been trying to be more present in my conversations and tasks. Doing small things with intentionality!
Thanks so much! :) And that sounds great :)
I like to slow down by meditating or taking a hot bath with epsom salt, bubbles and a bath-bomb I also love to get outside and walk with my dog and family. In the warmer months hiking is a favourite thing to do as well as biking. :)
Love it! :)
First of all, love your hair! And second, JOMO! Love this idea/concept! ❤️
Thank you Louisa!! :) Enjoy the JOMO! :)
Hi. Vera... Thanks a lot for useful tips... Slow living can show you exactly who you are, where are you going, what is your priorities and happiness etc... I just want to say... Instead of saying I M BUSY... say I M EASY.... 👍
Thanks and I think that's so clever! :)

*You can do anything you want, just not everything at the same time.*
Wish you all a restful weekend 🌟❤️🌟
Haha that's great! :)
Great video again, Vera 😊
I often slow down by playing Animal Crossing on my switch - it's not a fast game and almost forces you to wait or take your time and think about the decisions you're making.
I also try to stay away from screens for 60min a day and take that time to read a book or fill in my bullet journal :)
Sounds great! Yes Animal Crossing can be very relaxing haha
Vera 🤘, very interesting video (as always) thank you for your always good ideas. Have a great weekend.
Haha you're so welcome, you have a great weekend too! :)
Slow living bits: enjoy a cuppa and petting my cat and birds.
🍵🤗
Thank you so much
You're very welcome :) Have a Happy Monday!
Vera, your videos are always a sight for sore eyes! Oh, and btw, I'm loving your hair
Aw thank you so much Marina 🤗🎀
My daily routine that I turn into daily ritual is taking my dogs for a walk.. without smartphone. I can focus myself to just enjoy our time, smiling and laughing over my silly dogs :) And of course FOMO... having less social media helps. Closing my twitter dan facebook account were the best decision I did.
Love it! :) Thanks for sharing
Nice! I saved this video to share with my friend later

You are an inspirational beautiful soul Vera 😇 🌷
Ps. Your 'new' hairstyle, which you described earlier as your original one, looks fantastic!
Plus your makeup is always so great, pure, natural, feminine, perfectly balanced. Perhaps you could show once how you do it, as a 'mindful makeup' session? 😉
Thank you so much, that's so sweet! :) Maybe I'll do that sometime
Nice tips esp JOMO! 3 things that help me slow down daily: journal, yoga, prayer.
BTW, love the shade of your lipstick! Looks so good on you. :)
Thanks so much! :) And thanks for sharing what helps you to slow down. Have a lovely weekend
