Hearing nothing but great things from Epoch batteries!!! Im considering a pair of 460ah ones for my future sprinter build!!!! Nice video!!!!
They’re solid. We’ve run ours for several days with only a 265 watt panel to cap off. Performance continues to impress.
Whoops. I just bought a 460ah. We do use our trailer without shore power the majority of the time and lots of winter camping at the ski resorts. Probably could have been just fine with the 300ah. Great test vid!
Thanks for watching. They’ll always be those times when you’ll be glad there’s extra capacity.
It's nice to see that it could run the fridge, especially since 12V refrigeration is starting to become the standard. However, it would also be nice to see how it holds up with the furnace running. Get an idea of how much juice the igniter and fan use and how much the run time is impacted.
That’s a good point. The test would be different for most depending the size and type of 12V batteries used in the RV and temperatures outside. The batteries would need to drop in voltage over time requiring the power station to run the converter to recharge the battery. For our testing environment we have 300 amps of lithium batteries and I suspect the residential refrigerator would use most of the power before the battery is depleted. Different story for those who have propane refrigerators. It’s difficult to estimate without knowing the battery and charger capacities.
Great job Jerry 👍🏋️♀️🔥🤗
Thanks!
It also has a built in internal Class T fuse with AIC rating of 28000 amps!
Correction, the 450 AHr has the 500 Amp built in fuse, and the AIC rating is 50,000 amps.
Sounds like you need to upgrade your vehicle charging system with a DC to DC charger and a dedicated cable. Victron has a 30 amp DC to DC and they're just releasing a new 50 amp DC to DC. Hope this helps .
Thanks for the tip. Adding more charging to the battery wouldn’t help run the appliances not served by the inverter.
Excellent video. This is definitely a contender for me. The price is a bit steep, but the quality and construction is unmatched in the other units I have researched. Thanks for the thorough test.
Thanks. We’re going to give it workout as our primary battery. Think this is going to be g to be a strong power solution.
$1099 for 300AH and all those features is a steal. Battle born wants that for ONE 100AH battery
I love this battery but my app is buggy. If i close the app or switch to another app, it looses connection with the battery and wont reconnect to it via the app until i kill the app in the background and re-start it. Also, the extra features on my app dont line upp correctly on my small iphone screen. And to make it worse, the shows the oldest data first which means you have to scroll for a long time to see the current data. Pretty much makes it useless. I hope they sort it out sometime soon. I guess the good thing is the SOC and relevant data appears to be accurate and is nicely presented.
Are you running Android or iPhone? I haven’t noticed this on my iPhone 13.
@@iLoveRVlife iphone 12 mini. I've re-installed the app and it still does this. All my Victron bluetooth devices also disconnect when i switch apps but they re-connect seamlessly when i pull up those apps again. I have other bluetooth devices that work perfectly as well so its just the E-Poch app. Its not the end of the world though. The Victron BMV gives me all the same info AND the app does appear to be very accurate as far as i can tell for the important stuff. I guess its more annoying right now because the battery is new to me and im constantly trying to access the data through the app. As time goes on I will use it maybe only weekly to double check the Victron data so not a huge issue.
Okay ... You definitely got my attention with this one. :)
Thanks. Good to hear it was helpful.
thank you for doing this testing. Being a new RV'er, figuring out how much a battery can take is tough. This particular battery meets our needs for boondocking as we are not full-time RV'ers and only have a 30ft toy hauler to power up. Having a generator, 400W solar, AND now a 300ah LifePO? We will definitely be ok on our power needs for our use case. Thank you again!
So glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching.
I would like to see you in the slides out and then have enough power to run the slides back in
I did a 2nd review after the batter had been exposed to freezing temperatures for several weeks. I show the slides being used in this video Epoch 300ah V2 LifePO4 Battery - Did it survive the cold?

@@iLoveRVlife thank you, I sent a comment to that video
Hi Jerry, I just watch your Epoch videos . i'm looking to buy 3- 300amp to install in my RV . Have you found any battery that you like better? It looks like it would work good for me. I do have plans to install a solar set up to be able to run my AC at some point. I know to do this i would need more then 3-300 amp to do this. What is your thoughts? i enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for helping us.
We’ve been using the battery since October last year. Very happy with the performance. Very well built. Like the BMS, heaters, and low temp disconnect. Thanks for watching.
Great video I was looking at getting this battery or the 460 AH that they sell here. I had a couple of questions here. 1. You guys are not full time what do you do with your lithium battery in the winter when you camper is winterized? Right now I have two group 27 batteries and a Onan 4000 watt generator, would this battery also be able to start my internal generator? I also have 600 watts of Solar on my roof.
Thanks. The battery has low temperature disconnect and built in heaters. Shouldn’t be any issue with the low temps. I can’t answer the generator question not knowing the wiring scheme of the RV and if the RV has house batteries and gen starter batteries. As far as crank amperage of the battery, it has 300A discharge capacity, but better answered by the Epoch tech contact email.
Great review on what looks like an excellent product. As I understand, I could use this to replace two lead acid batteries as long as my converter/charger meets the minimum charging volts. I read different minimums on the internet for Lithium and am trying to see how I determine if my charger meets the requirements. When my batteries are charging my voltage shows 13.8. I have a Winnebago Gas powered class A.
Thank you. For lithium batteries you’ll need to charge at 14.4. Some charger converters have a switch to select lead acid or lithium batteries.
Nothing from your current set up is useable, it all has to be swapped out and you also need a DC to DC charger or you'll fry your alternator
Thanks
Good video Jerry! Looks like a great battery!!
Thanks
Long time subscriber, first time commenter. Thank you for the review video. Did you have any issues with the LANpwr lithium you installed a while back that necessitated a change to the Epoch? I’m looking to purchase and am trying to get all the info I can to make a good purchase the first time.
No issue. Battery BMS discharge amperage is the lowest of batteries tested so far. No issues with overall performance. LiTime has a better BMS and a better price. I wanted evaluate the Epoch batteries since is was a US based, it is heated, and has Bluetooth.
@@iLoveRVlife so is the Epoch the go to battery with more features but the slightly higher price point? I’m leaning that way now.
It’s what I’m using as my primary battery. Plus they have a number of options for batteries. Same cells but different features and prices as well.
Can they start a Onan 5.5K or 7K RV Generator start ~ 100 Amp to start?
Haven’t tried. It has a 300 amp discharge with a 900 watt peak.
Haven’t tried. It has a 300 amp discharge with a 900 watt peak.
Hi Jerry , I just watched this Videos on the Epoch 300amp . I' m looking to get 3- 300 amp to put in my Rv. Would this still be the one you would go with ? or is there something you like better. Thanks for your time and great videos.
It’s a great battery. We’ve been using it and very happy. I like the BMS, heaters and low temp disconnect. Very good value over all. Thanks for watching.
Great video thank Jerry , God Bless
Thanks
Great video.
This is a really good option. I will be checking where it is available for purchase.
Thanks
Curious if you have received the owner's manuals yet? Also, you stated the BMS cuts off at 10 volts. What limited information I can find on these batteries they state not to let it run below 10% SOC. Does the BMW shut the battery down at 10%? I believe you stated the shunt would stop discharge at 10%, does that mean the inverter will cut off at that value?
Not yet. I have the inverter set to turn off at 10%. The battery will operate to 10V.
Is it possible to replace my 2 AGM batteries and replace with lithium batteries??
Yes, but a little homework is needed. Your charger / converter needs to have a lithium option to charge at a constant 14.4V. If you have solar, same goes for your solar charger.
Of course ! I suggest you see a specialist in 12 volt lithium current
Jerry, great video. I have a question for you. Just your opinion. The battery charger that you used to get the Epoch up to 100% needs 120v to start. Can that charger be plugged into the inverter or would that be counter productive ?
That would be counter productive. It takes more DC watts to make AC watts with the inverter. I may have other ideas. What's the application?
My converter is not compatible to charge the EnJoybot 12v 200AH battery with 200BMC. I don't do a lot of dry camping but some. My solar is only 315 watts which will help so my concern is getting it charged 100% @@iLoveRVlife
If your main battery is fully charged, you can connect the solar charger to the XT60 port on the power station. It can handle a charging input up to 650 watts, a max 70 volts and no more than 18 amps. Could create a jumper between charger and power station. You would need to disconnect the camper battery from the charger while this is going on.
Thanks Jerry. I'll try to figure that out.@@iLoveRVlife
Power queen batteries with my discount are 751.00, I could buy 1/2 of my second 300 ah battery for the price of that battery. And power queen batteries performance are at the top of the charts. Let's see a comparison test.
Will be happy to compare. Have them send one.
Is your powerqueen battery self heating?
And power queen uses grade B cells which will die in less than 2 years, you just watch as those grade b cells go out of whack and not stay in balance.
Did you have to beef up your wiring onboard to support the 300 AH battery?
I didn't have too, but I increased. The Montana came with short 2 gauge cables from the lead acid batteries to the main power buss. My amperage used in the Montana wasn't going to increase, but if I were to get a larger inverter in the future and since I was moving the batteries from the front storage bay to the heated storage area, I needed longer cables. I increased to 3/0 cables.
Gotcha. I just ordered the Epoch 460 AH battery, I currently only have the Xantrax 1800 W inverter with 2x 100 AH lead acid with 1x 200 W solar panel.
It doesn’t look like you operated the slides under your test. Seems like that would have been the largest pull of power.
I didn’t show. Should have. We just finished an update and will release in a few days. Extensive use after several weeks in 20 degree weather to see if the battery heaters and cold temp shut off prevented damage to the cells. This one has slides and much more. Interesting in this test the coffee maker and toaster created the largest amperage draws.
I will keep an eye out for your soon to come video. Thank you for reviewing these.
But no fridgeon the 9 hour yest?
It was. Never turned it off.
Fridge on or off?
On the entire time.
Minor detail. It’s not pronounced “Epic” not “Epok”
I don’t disagree, but I had to redo the video before release after calling the company. They said it was “epok”. Not sure why.
@@iLoveRVlife I guess it depends on who you talk to. Too funny. I had seen these batteries elsewhere and called them to inquire and when I called them epok they “corrected” me. 😀 whatever the pronunciation they appear to be a good build! Thanks for all of your helpful info! Love the channel!
Too funny! Thanks a bunch. Appreciate you watching.
"parenthetically" NOT "theoretically" is the proper word you should have used..
