Thank you for that. I didn't receive a manual when I bought it. The chain was very loose with the idler on top. Possibly chain was stretched. Or maybe previous owner replaced chain with longer one. I replaced chain when it broke and laid them side by side to determine length. I can take out a couple links to move it in correct position. Thanks for the advice.

i wasn't sure if model was good when i bought used but i have used it for about 15 years now with just breaking chain link once
Chain idler should be on top chain as the auger id is driven by the lower , all torque is on lower , may overload idler bearing
