- In this video, I am answering two of my most popular questions. How to email manufacturers for your clothing line and what MOQ to start with to kick off the launch of your clothing line. This is based on my experience and what I have found works best for me so far.

Thank you very much for all you're doing for beginners like me. I have a question, if I sent some pictures of the garments that I want to he made, does my manufacturer still needs to ask for a pattern?

Heyyy, it depends on what kind of manufacturer they are, but typically they ask for a tech pack and then they make the patterns themselves based on your tech pack.
When sampling should I ask for plain samples or samples with my design already on there pls?
With your design for sure! You can then use the samples (if they're good) for a photoshoot whilst youre waiting for your bulk order

I have a question. Do you still make any custom pieces or is it all outsourced?
All of my designs are manufactured for me now! I do definitely want to get into making custom pieces in house for stying etc xx

What is the best way to pay in your opinion and using what platform e.g PayPal or a straight bank transfer
PayPal is better as it’s a third party. Bank transfer once that money is gone it’s gone gone.
I pay with bank transfer because I get my products first and my manufacturer is happy for me to do so

4:43 what exactly do you mean when you're talking about 'making a pattern' and having to pay a lot for this? what is a pattern?

what if you are completely brand new and so dont have sales, website of your clothes, etc. to show them
Then you have to come at them with the angle, explain that you are a start up and you want to grow with then long term xx
completely unrelated, but when sampling, did you have patterns made first or straight into sampling? how did you tackle your sampling process, because that’s where i’m stuck 😭😭😭😭
For my first collection I made a tech pack with measurements and I had my samples made from that.
For my second smaller summer drop, I actually sewed some of the pieces myself and then they based the sample of that.
For this collection it a little more complicated.
I’ve got patterns for some of the products I purchased those patterns and checked with my manufacturer if they are ok to use.
Then I sent actual physical garment for then to base the other patterns from and create the samples. That what I did in this video

Then for one of the pieces they are basing the pattern of my tech pack.
I will then receive samples for all my products based of all what I said above

I recon tech packs is a good way to start. Having one manufacturer do everything for you after you give them the tech pack x
