Super cool to know the details around the original production. I was also looking onto reproducing daft punk Timbers, but they build a lot on chops and loops. It is still kind of cool to try to synthesize the sounds but chopping and mixing is another art.
Good call. Not excusing myself but, on the latest episode of this series around Ladytron, you can see the progress around mixing as the original. Far from pro, but geometric progression. Izotope tools were crucial for me to learn and compare mixes, it is a whole other universe going from playing instruments up to music and video production. Many people don’t know what goes behind. But it is very good when the community give feedback with tips so all can learn, including myself.
OK cool. As long as viewers can check out your mix & your process and then make sure to soak up everything great about the original mix (super layered).. then great 😃👍
Yes the discussion is super important, the best of my videos were the ones that you guys gave your opinion, I even had collaborated with the audience showing their own take of my patches. It is great when you take the time to give feedback
Good to hear. I have a few but it is also a research process to find songs I like and I can reproduce with my gear. But I do accept suggestions to hear what are you guys listening too. I liked for instance that a lot o people were engaged with the Radiohead patch. I am thinking about Daft Punk next…
@@ShaperSoundChannel anything popularish with interesting sound design could do well, especially if the artist has a solid set of superfans. I think some gorillaz songs may have potential?
Good feedback. As I had progress on this series I was more attentive to the mix by studying and equipping myself better. My focus has been in Sound design. But this specific series thought me a lot about sound engineering. I mean this channel is a school for me. Started a year ago from scratch on video editing, filming, producing with focus on subtractive synthesis, then learned about mixing and Mastering as much as one can teach one self. Like I always say, this channel is about the ride, about the journey.
As a true musician, as well as a fan of NIN, I enjoyed your take on Closer. And while you didn't hit the track verbatim, to say that your recreation was terrible, is just a fucking dickhead opinion. I'm sure that even Trent would have given you credit for your track. To anyone who bashes this guy for his efforts, let's see you upload something better. Kudos, brother. Have a great weekend.
@@Dusty-mu9ku thanks a lot for the kudos, for me is really a learn by doing journey. Sometimes it feels like people expect you to be an expert cause you post stuff online, but I’ve tried to make clear that I am not any authority, I’m a music fan just like most of us. I hope to learn from this community and maybe teach some along the way. Most importantly have fun along the way. Love, hate and these videos are for free, but appreciate the kudos to keep motivated. All the best!
The drum beat from Closer is actually a pitched sample from "Nightclubing" by Iggy Pop (probably layered with some other sounds)
Which in turn is a 707

I think it's just the bass drum. The snare was a very heavily processed sample.
I was especially impressed with the strings. They were perfect!
First off, listen for panning effects in original. Use headphones.

I've never heard that much Funk roped onto Closer. Bravo!
