As someone who hasn't played paintball in years -- it's awesome to relive those memories through your channel and you taking us viewers along through your journey. Keep up the awesome content Ronnie (and Matt!!) 👍
So much truth spoken in this one. So many people step into the competitive side of paintball thinking it’s easy and that they can just jump on the field and just be good. Paintball in itself is a sport and you reap the game day benefits on how you train off the field. It’s was definitely cool seeing Ronnie explain the sacrifices that even he makes on the daily to be able to play on that high of a level. Amazing collaboration from two of the greatest paintball ambassadors out there and I’m loving the success you two have.
Matt, seeing this collaboration, you've gotta keep it up. As my wise late grandfather used to say, "if you want to be the best, surround yourself with the best."
Paintball is literally the only sport as a beginner D5 player could talk and socialize with a pro level player… your average basketball player would NEVER get the chance to learn directly from Lebron.. in paintball it’s so casual to meet a pro and have a convo. Can’t get that in any other professional sport
I like the drills and I will definitely give them a try! Ronnie’s advice to start small and to be consistent when you start running is exactly what worked for me.
Great video yall. I think with paintball being a sport that’s harder to watch and understand for most, behind the scenes and learning the personalities like this is what’s going to really grow the sport.
Someone important to me mentioned this. We only have 48 hours on the weekend. So do the most with your best. Loved the video keep it up Matt! Love you’re expanding from the pewpews and taking a look at the grind. Ty Ronnie for getting on!
@@StaySqueezy12 do indeed. That went through a flat period. Lot of teams now starting to come out of QLD and a few new ones starting in Sydney getting some numbers back up. Now playing at 10.5 across all divs.
In all honesty after you win all the trophies it’s a dull numb feeling you get and winning just isn’t enough. That feeling from just going out into the woods with just a bunch of friends goofing off seems like a long lost dream. Paintball burnout almost caused me to give up the game in the same manner Ollie walked away.
That is a crazy schedule. Most people watching this are at their day jobs whilst Ron don is in the gym. He works in the industry right? Good insight into a day of.
@@michaelanderson5209 We didn't touch on this but the team is funded by outside people who have some investment into the team. So paintball companies and other buisness are the main income sources
Pro xball only pays 8000 for 1st. With 10-15+ (including staff) on a team that wont even pay for the expenses. Some teams have owners that pay players, but they arent really making their money back. Paintball is a pay to play sport at every level but the players that get paid make enough to live, as you can see Ronnie doesnt really have to work a standard 9-5. I loved the honesty, about how you need the income and flexibility to even think about playing at the higher levels.
What does he do for a living? Being able to go to the paintball field 4x a week seems like there is a lot of time to make that happen. Looks like a fairly high cost of living area to live also.
So like Soccer, Baseball and Football teams (almost all professional league teams) the players all train together (basketball is different). And if too baseball players can make 700million dollars playing, then it’s probably about time Professional Paintball gets in on the action??
This is equivalent to your two favorite cartoons making an episode together. Awesome video, Matt. Good luck to both of ya at cup! @ronniedizon @mattthegymrat
So...this actually turned me off to pursuing competitive paintball, as a whole. Being someone who is likely 10+ years older than either you or Ronnie, and having played at D4, and scrimmed and handily beaten D3+ teams, this is literally heartbreaking. I'm sorry, but there's no if's, and's, or buts about it. This is a shame to anybody who wants to pursue true competition in paintball, and I am disappointed in you.
If you’re referring to the intensity of the training program of pro players I think it actually helps legitimize the sport. They want to get any edge they can both mentally and physically over their competition and spectators respect that. I just started playing paintball, so I don’t know much history there, but I have followed pro motocross for a while and there are likely similarities. There was a huge swing from little training to so much training that riders were burning out fast. The good news is riders are finding a better balance now that they know what level training is required to be at the top of the sport.
